Relaxed Rules!

Not much different really. The P.M. spoke yesterday at seven in the evening to tell us what was going on. You can now go out exercising as much as you want as lng as you social distance. People can also go back to work if they cannot work at home. However, Wales and Scotland are keeping their lockdown rules for sometime yet.  So some confusion arises. No return for the hospitality  industry, or foreign travel except for France it seems which is odd. Oh well.
No coffee shops open yet though.  Primary schools open from June, hardly worth their  while since they will soon be closed for the Summer Holidays. People to avoid public transport as much as they can use cars, or bicycles which is fineif you work nearto where you live. We shall wait and see what happens.
Jessie isof course unaffected, she is alternating between downstairs and jane's  bed.
Now which way should I go?

Jane's Little Present!

To herself, yesterday she rang up and  told us she had bought herself a little present. A new bike. It is a bright red Raleigh Strada one which she fancied for getting about on. She has bought a helmet and a strong lock for it as well so is all protected. She rode it back to her house from the shop and left her car at Morrisons which meant she had to go back there to get her car back. She needed shopping anyway so went later.  All good for the fitness anyway. just hope she doesn't keep on about bar ends which she did when she was young and at school. Mithered the life out os till  we eventually gave in and got her some!!
Today is V.E. Day the 75th anniversary of said occasion, so everything is wall to wall memories of that day which was momentous in this country's history. Now we need a victory over this virus which is still claiming lives. I read in the paper that nine of the famous Chelsea pensioners have lost their fight over the virus. No sign really of it going away, and we are awaiting the PM on Sunday to let us know what the next step will be.
jessie is still unconcerned about everything, as long as she is near her daddy she is happy in her little world.
She positioned herself very nicely on the landing this morning just outside the bathroom, waiting to trip me up perhaps!!

Up And At Em!

Up and going quite early this morning. Reason, the podiatrist was coming to do my feet, he tends to arrive at the same time about nine fifteen or thereabouts so that is good. He is always on time so that leaves  the rest of the day for Vin to do what he wants.
Even though he opened the front door ready and just left the porch door shut so he didn't have to ring the bell. For some reason Jessie hates the doorbell, we have no idea why but if it goes she runs a mile and hides. Even though the bell didn't go she still ran off and at the time of typing she is still hiding.  No idea where, probably under Jane's bed.
No sign of a relaxing of the lockdown just yet, but we are expecting Boris to say something about it on Sunday.  It is another lovely day today, but is supposed to be getting cooler towards the Bank Holiday weekend. We shall see what happens.
"Was that the doorbell? if it was I'm off!

Lockdown Still!

Looks like another week of the lockdown.  Some countries are beginningto relax their rules but not here so far yet.  Apparently boris is speaking on Sunday to tell the country what is going to happen. We shall see therefore.
Not a lot going on in our house at the moment as you would expect, not being able to go anywhere and avoiding going shopping as much aspossible. Vin is just going out on a Wednesday to Tesco at the moment, he is not going the other way to Sainsbury's because it is a smaller shop and not so easy to social distance. With the Tesco store and our corner shop that is enough to keep us going, and vin does a wonderful jobof getting our meals sorted so not too hard going.
Little Jack next door seems to have recovered from his mishap whatener it was, and vin was waving at him through the window so he must be  getting around a bit more.  Our jessie isn't bothered at all, either by the lockdown or by the fact that jack hasn't been around the back garden either. She did go out yesterday but not for long, she is a catty who likes her home comforts is our Jessie.
On the prowl, as long as there is noone else about!

Tootsie day!

It is indeed a tootsie day today with the very nice cheerful mark coming to do the feet which are getting better day by day. I was discharged into the care of the community last week from aintree so do not have to go back there and the community podiatrist comes to the house because they are not doing clinics for the over seventies!
Yesterday the new Sky box arrived and Vin was most of the morning getting that set up which he did very successfully. he has reinstated some of the series we watch and also a couple of the ones we have missed so that was a very good job done and all so quick too.
Everything is being done online these days, vin orderedsomething from Argos yesterday that he had a voucher for and that arrived this morning at the same time as the podiatrist which was a bit of a rush but it al went well.    Just waiting for a delivery from M&S now.
Jessie has done her disappearing act again, but has probably come out again now she feels safe again. !
Safe again!

All Systems Go!

Vin was up early  thismorning in case the Sky delivery came. It did actually, delivered by a lady who dropped it off at the door and gave Vin the instructions as to what to do with it. All efore breakfast too. He had already taken out the old box ready to replace it. So hopefully it will be all up and going before long. Vin is really good at fixing things so I am sure he will get it done. He hasjust come up actually to say it had takenhimall that time to get it organised, mostly to do with the card and getting that done. Good Job Vin!!
Captain Tom Moore reached his 100th birtday milestone today also. He has been in our news a lot lately, originally starting to do ten laps of his garden each day to raise £1000 for the NHS. His total is now £30,Million which is remarkable, it has all just captured the world's interest. He has also been promoted to  Colonel by the Queen which is nice for him too, and he had a fly past this morning as well. Well Done Colonel Tom!
Our Jessie of course disappeared when the front door bell went as she does. Reappeared later to smell the new box in the living room. Typical.
No doubt she was hungry again and that always wakes her up!

Sky!!

What a blow! Yesterday the Sky box gave up the ghost, and would not respond to any of Vin's recovery measures. Totally gone, along with all of the recording we had on it as well. Hence no Countdown for us or Corrie last night for that matter. Oh well, worse things happen at sea as they say!
Anyway, he rang someone up last night for advice and was told that Sky were not very helpful at the mment because off the lockdown but was given the number of a place in Northern ireland who would deliver a new box. Vin rang Sky up this morning and was told that  Sky would deliver a new box tomorrow, but the man would not come in the house, and would talk him through it all from a distance. Vin reckons he knows what to do anyso that is ok. How good is that!! Apparently we are classed as vulnerable because I am over 70 so get priority. So that's good.
Baby Boris!! The Prime Minister and his gorlfriend announced the birth of a healthy baby boy this morning,  Boris's sixth child and his third son.  A bit of good news though amid all of the gloom.
Much cooler yesterday and today, and quite blowy today as wel. Real change in the temperature over the last couple of days.
Bad news for B.A. workers today, as twelve thousand workers are to be made redundant.  that is a quarter of the staff, and an enormous number of people going to be in trouble.  Doesn't bode well for the holiday  industry.
Meanwhile here at home Jessie is still carrying on her life as normal,  our next door neighbour rang vin by mistake this morning and he rang back, had a bit of a conversation with her. She said that jack was walking a bit better, and she was waiting for the vets to ring her back with the results of some tests that had been done on him. Hope he is ok, he is a lovely little cat, full of character, and I am sure hates being on cage rest.  Jessie wishes him well, and is still asleep on her banket.
Staying out of the way of him, I might get chased!!
