Grey Day!

Grey day weatherwise and also the day for the grey bin to go round for the men tomorrow. Alternate bins, grey one week brown for the recycling the next. green bins whenever.

New strain of the virus appearing called the South Africa one, quite an aggressive one by the sound of it, mostly down southern areas of the country but there is one in Southport a bit close to home. Advice is as usual to stay home and not go out except for essential needs.  I got my letter about the vaccine on  Saturday but we have decided to wait a little while to see if Vin gets one before we go into making the appointment.

Just had phone call from Mark the podiatrist to say he is off on Monday his due day so he is coming on Friday morning instead, not early about twelve o'clock, at least we don't have to get up early which is a bonus.

Little Jessie woke her Daddy up this morning not too early, so he went down for our coffee then and got going.  She is a good little alarm clock!

She sits by the side of the bed and miaows, until he gets up. He was saying she gets going when she hears him put his glasses on he thinks that is really clever. Aaah!!

Another One!

By another one I mean another vaccine, they seem to be coming out of the woodwork these days. I hope to God they work because it is all very new realy.

Radio very boring today, it is a musicals day and they are playing nothing but songs from them, not bad songs, just boring no change of type of song, they all have the same tone. We only went to see one musical which was Starlight Express, on in Manchester, Jane bought us tickets for it when it was on. Very good it was too really enjoyable, the cast were on roller skates and were trains. Loads of action, great to watch.

Vin met our neighbour this morning who said her little ct Milly is getting better now. She had a bad experience with another cat who tried to pull her through the cat flap, so hurting her tail. Poor little thing she is a really timid catty not at all like her brother, who is very different. Glad she is getting better after two visits to the vets.

Parcel came this morning, It was coffee pods that had been ordered from Amazon, via Dublin apparently. Came before their due date though,  Arrived at about ten o'clock this morning, so all done and dusted. Enough for the next three months now so will keep me going for a bit. Vin gets his from the supermarkets usually on offer, he tends to like the Americano's but I like the skinny Macchiato's which you can't buy in the stores and we order them online.

Jessie is downstairs, Vin feeds her when he goes down for our first coffees, she miaows until he gets what she wants!

Jessie at Christmas, going into her house which jane had put her stocking in front of! This gets moved only when mark the podiatrist comes and is moved into the kitchen then it comes out again after he has been!!

Snow Begone!

Snow all gone this morning and no sign of frost either, Still cold though although Vin says it is quite mild, he is much hardier than me, i feel the cold more than he does.

Had a visit from Jack from next door yesterday, he got in through the cat flap and Jessie disappeared upstairs. I was in the  computer room, when Vin came up with him. He is really lively, runs around al over the place and is really nosey. I stroked his head and he rolled over on the carpet. Reached down to stroke him and he went mad, growled and caught my hand, quite a bad scratch on my palm in a couple of places and the back of the hand too. Vicious little sod! I'm not doing that again! Vin says this morning they were both at the cat flap waiting for biscuits both him and his sister Milly.  he said it looked like a food kitchen!

Vin has gone off to Tesco this morning, he was going to go  tomorrow but decided to go on his usual day or he would be out of sync as he puts it. he says that he is going to be quick going round. mainly to keep out of the way of people.

The pandemic is still very strong, sad day yesterday as the death toll reached the one humdred thousand mark. Such a lot of sorrow, all thos mothers, fathers, brothers sisters etc., The Prime Minister was on television yesterday, saying he was sorry for everything that has happened. Not that they could have done anything differently really, things moved so quickly.  It is a year on Sunday when the people who were in Wuhan were brought back to isolate in Arrowe Park  and then we had no idea just how bad that things were going to get.

Vin has just rung up to say he is coming back, and walking across the car park he found a pound coin so he is a happy bunny now too!

A nice gentle cat, not a scratchy cat at all!!

Sunny Monday!

It is looking brighter today but still cold. There was quite a lot of icy hail around yesterday, but today it is looking sunnier and much clearer. As long as the rain keeps off and the flooded fields have a chane to clear.

Mark the podiatrist came quite early at about ten o'clcock, and was gone in around ten minutes, no sign of Jessie of course she had disappeared when the doorbell went. Probably gone under Jane's bed, but I haven't seen her come out yet. He will be back in two weeks so a respite next week again.  Vin has gone off to Sainsbury's today because he didn't go yesterday for a change. Good to alter your habits, and we had a nice day doing the crosswords in the papers. Lovely log fire in the afternoon, very cosy. One thing Vin is extremely good at is building fires! Not arson type ones but in our fireplace. He gets a great blaze going in just a few minutes.

Jessie likes her warmth, she was in front of the heater in the extension this morning after she had woken her Daddy up stupid o'clock for some food. However she went off when the doorbell went, probably back there now the coast is clear.

Her very favourite spot though, next to her daddy on her blanky which Jane bought for her last Christmas.

Floods!

Wet and windy here this morning, the back end of the storm Christop I suppose, not nice weather at all at the moment.

We had our tea with Corrie last night and got ready to watch "The Bay"  and then our Jane rang up to say that they were signs that they were in a flood danger zone in East Didswbury. It seems that they had a leaflet through the door but weren't being asked to evacuate yet. Vin suggested that she go out to see what was going on so she did that and sent photos back. The river mersey was high but not overflowing yet but roads were closed in some places due to the water. It was snowing quite hard also so not a nice night at all. Don't suppose they got much sleep last night they would be worried.

We two and Jessie are hunkering down for the forseeable, unless told to go anywhere for appointments, but not expecting that at all.  What really odd times we are living in, pandemic for the last year, flooding worries, although thankfully we don't have those, and a new American president inaugurated yesterday too. Joe Biden finally takes over from the awful Donald trump. Many have said he was the worst president that the US ever had.  We shall have to see how the new one gets on.

Jessie is soundly asleep either on her blanket or by the heater in the middle room. No sign of the naughty Jack from next door so she is safe for the time being!

Cat at play with her toy and resting on her "garden".

Tesco Day!

It's Wednesday, pouring with rain and Vin is off to Tesco's. He says that the rain will put people off going out to the supermarket and he is probably right. there is supposed to be storm Christoph on the way but so far it hasn't hit us here.Warnings of flooding in the North though, in the usual places.

No little visitors today in our house. yesterday we had a big surprise when little Jack from next door came visiting. I went along to the bathroom when I got up and saw Jessie at the bottom of the stairs. Said to Vin what is she doing down there so he goes down to see and comes back with jack under his arm. Settles down on our quilt and looks around. Jumps off and goes roaming.Vin chases him round with a pair of strong gloves on, and eventually he is pushed out of the cat flap. Nice bit of fun anyway!

The inauguration of the next American president today in the middle of the day. very different because of the way trump's supporters have behaved in the last few weeks at one point storming the Capital building, so apparently the security is very wide. Terrible scenes to watch on the television, angry mobs storming the main building. He has certainly left a terrible legacy has Trump, and not for the better.

Jessie has settled down again, actually she was remarkably good with him considering he ws in her space, Vin reckons she is very affectionate at the moment though!

 I'm coming to see you!

And Another Week!

Rolls on by, Monday again, and the highlight of the week is two deliveries, one today of Yogurt sachets and the other Bullens tomorrow, only ordered the yogurt the other day so that is good going.

Covid still proving a big problem as people seem to be taking not a lot of notice of the stay at home rules judging by the pictures in the papers this morning showing crowdsout all over. Senseless especially as it seems to be hitting a lot more young people these days, probably because the older ones are doing as they are told! Supposed to be vaccinating the over seventies now from today, so we shall wait for our letters in the post.

Not too bad this morning although I think it is quite cold but there again I always feel the cold, Vin doesn't but he does have terrible cold hands, like blocks of ice, he should be a good pastry maker!

Little Jessie girl was up on the bed last night, must have come up to check her Daddy was still here. She jumps up on the bed, climbs up on Vin's front and then starts padding . She sort of goes into a trance lies almost flat and pads away on top of him, very strnge to watch. lovely though, very endearing!

Jessie in her "house" with her "garden" in front of it. Every now and again she disappears into it and and stays in there. It was a big box that Jane sent for us with shortbread in it and an advent calendar. Vin cut a hole in the front and back of it, posted Jessie into it and she loved it! Expensive toys and what does she play with? the box!
