Brexit Day!

Finally! we have reached the day we leave the European unin, after three and a half years. It has brought trouble and strife to a lot of the country, especially in Scotland and Ireland, so we shall have to see what happens.  Some are predicting doom and gloom with rising prices etc., but we shall what occurs in the years to come.
Meanwhile here at home it is a quiet day with drizzly rain and not much happening. Little Jessie is still the same as usual, came up to get her daddy this morning, and sat on top of him for ages. Jack from next door came visiting but Vin didn't let him in. it only upsets Jess if he gets in, and she disappears upstairs for an age.  Anyway it started to rain so he ran off back home i suppose.
Ready to scoot off upstairs. don't think she will ever get used to him!

Tootsie Day Again!

Yesterday was another tootsie day. This time off to Thornton clinic instead of Aintree. We arrived justt on time  that is not late, and i sat down while Vin went off to the reception to register mein.Hispjone went while he was waiting and it  was from a man called Mark who wanted  to speak to me, about my appointment at Yhornton,  Vin explained that we were there and I was sitting outside  so of course we were called in immediately. Nice man actually, not often we see a male podiatrist really only ever seen one before many moons ago in the maghull clinic. Dealt with  the feet very efficiently and we were out to a blustery winde and cold air.
off we went to  the Costa in Formby because it was still quite early, and our coffee time. Very blustery there too we nearly got blown in there. Quite busy unfortunately and the only space left was  in the far corner, not too  warm either. in fact it was really cold there, but needs must! I had a flat white and Vin got himself a coconut latte which turned out to be a small one in a glass, he drunk that very quickly so he went back to get a filter coffee as well. Greedy boy! No not really, he deserves it. Home to soup for lunch and pasta for tea.
today is sunny but still cold, at least I think it is but i do feel the cold, unlike him.  he has gone out to trim one of the bushes which is overgrown, no green bin due but he will put it in the grey one for next time.
Jessie is asleep n her blanket, back on her other one while the red one is being laundered.
What a poser!

Mondays!

Another Monday and another week nearer to Christmas! Only kidding we have a lot to go through first, Valentines and Easter things already in the shops according to vin. No sign of christmas stuff now anywhere. it really is amazing just how quickly everything goes away after the day is over. Now its pension plans, life insurance and funeral plans instead, not forgetting the holiday adverts!
Not too bad today just very cold but there is a bit of sunshine about.
Appointment in the podiatary clinic  on friday which went as well as usual, and another one tomorrow at Thornton, which is a morning one, so might get a cup of coffee out of it.
Vin has just been up to say that he is doing a bit of gardening, some snowdrops are out already, so he has put them at the front of the house, and he had bought a lovely Hellebore plant last week so he is potting that up while the weather is nice. Good day to do that before the rain.
Jessie is asleep, apparently she was up on the bed this morningabout five or six!!  We found the other catnip mouse thingy that our Jane bought some time ago for christmas for Jessie, and we only gave her one because they drive her mad!  I put it on the table still in its package, and Vin said last night when he went down to get our drinks she was on my sofa looking for it.
Is it too early doe breakfast?

Quiet!

Not much going on here this week at all, very quiet which is a good thing I suppose really. Appointment tomorrow at  Aintree and got one through the post for the 13th of feb with Mr butcher about the toe they  are currently dealing with.  He will be sick of seeing me!
Sent our John's birthday parcel off yesterday, or was it Monday, forget now, monday i think actually. Got him a book and some comfort socks, couldn't think of anything else, very difficult to get things for an older man, and we donot really know what hobbies he has or what he needs so it is a bit of a guessing game. Still  we tried.
We have had periodic visits from little jack fromnext door, and Vin said this morning he was outside looking in and all he could see was a pair of ginger ears at the window.think he  likes it in here, more toplay with. We never see his little sister, she seems to stay inside with her owner, and she is a lot more  timid.Jessie of course runs a mile if she catches sight of him, usually runs and disappears under jane's bed in the middleroom. Comes down later when  it is clear.
I just love this picture, and think she looks gorgeous with the bright red blanket and her black and white colouring. She does indeed look like a star on it too.

Out For Coffee!

The object of yesterdays exercise was to go to Dobbies to get our free coffee for the month but also to get something for our John's birthday, which is on Feb 2nd. However since it has to be posted to Australia you have to think ahead.  We always get something from there that we thinkis suitable but you never know really.
It was a really horrible day actually, very very blowy and pouri9ng down with rain, and Dobbies is always a very blustery spot at the best of times and Dobbies was freezing apparently the heating was off because it had broken down and so was really chilly.
Still we haad a good look round and got a few things two presents and a card so job done.
Went for our coffees and a few people saying how cold it was, but nice coffees though. i had a flat white and vin had  an americano with hot milk.
Got home around twoish and jessie hadn't moved she was still on the sofa where we left her.
Today  we are off to Aintree later, for yet another podiatary session. At least it isn't an early one.
Posing again as usual!

Different Tootsie Lady!

Off we went to the clinic in Thornton yesterday to the podiatary appointment at 10.45.  easy to get to and parking outside the door so someadvantages. It is alla part of "Community Care" and done to relieve some of the pressure from the Hospital clinics.  Nice lady and no waiting timeto speak of . New patient to her so was asked all of the usual questions, went through the list of medications which took a while and some hustory, only to be expected really, then got down to the dressing of the feet. Took quite a long time actually with all of the note taking we were out in around an hour all told. When we went in it was dry and when we came out it was absolutely pouring and so it stayed like that for the rest of the day really. Camehome for our coffee mainly becauseit eastoowet to go anywhere sowe didn't bother.
Little Jack from next door came in to seeour Jessie yesterday but she wasn't having any of it and disappeared upstairs out of the way.  She either goes on our Jane's besd or under itif she doesn't want to  be seen. She did come downlaterthoughand all was forgiven!
Today is lovely and sunny but a cold day.Vin has beenoutside taking some bulbs round that are growing in pots at the back of the house, to the front. The sunny weather seems to be bringing them on and we haven't really had any frost yet to delay them.
Waiting for the better weather, and her cream cake later!

Monday 13 January 2020

Monday Monday!

Another monday arrived again, started off as normal and nothing exciting happening today although an appointment at Thornton clinic tomorrow at the podiatary clinic instead of Aintree. care in the community or some such. We have now got appointments all over the place a good job that Vin has them all on the new yearly calendar!
Friday we went off to Aintree as usual for the clinic and it was really funny, there were people everywhere, including two nurses who were "helpers" came and got me from the waiting area, and said it was just along here etc., Vin pointed out that we had been going there for three years!  actually I think my wheels could find their own way there! Then there was one junior doctor then the consultant i really like who always calls me  jenny, with a medical student as well podiatrists all over the place. A screamreally.  Anyway we did get out eventually and went off for a Costa at the Aintree retail park.
Notice4d inthe papers last week that all  the mothercare shops were closing down also some of the bigger Debenhams shops. The one in lord Street Southport included. Sign of the times I suppose.  The nmber of big famous names that have disappearedinrecent years has been terrible. It all started with poor Woolies going some years back, that was the biggest shock really.
The other main news in the papers is mostly of prince Harry and Meghan who are deserting the Royal family and skipping off  to canada. Don't really care about where they go actually, shame thatHarry will go he had a lot to offer. They know best i suppose.
Jessie has been enjoying her newlovely blanket,  sleeping onit and dreamingof nicecat food I expect, and being nxt to her daddy!
Has she found her catnip mouse? Plenty of them to find this year.

Wednesday 8 January 2020

All gone!

Everything down now and all looks very bare again. I always think everywhere looks a bit sad when the decoratins come down, but they can't stay u for ever and twelfth night has well been and gone now.
Not much food wasted really just bits and bobs, Vin has done a wonderful job of organising everything, cooking etc.,only a few bits in the freezer left and shortbread! We seemed to get a lot of shortbread this yeaar but it will all be used up over time.
A big hit this christmas was Jessie's new blanket which she loves and looks really lovely on too. Must be very comfortable because she spends a lot of time asleep on it.  !
Just said on the news that Australia has already lost one billion animals in the fires and now they are thinking of shooting ten thousand camels because they are drinking the precious water. seems awful. Terrible high temperatures and tinder dry wood and bush fires are just awful.
Love this one, it was her present from last year actually, on the bed with a few dreamies in it!

January The Sixth!

traditionally the day the decorations come down, at least they always have in our house anyway. Vin is working his little socks off trying to get everything back in the cupboard. I always feel a bit sad hen they come down everywhere looks so bare, and my little snowman has now gone awy too. This is a lovely little snowman that takes a tealight to make his body shine. Love him.
Been a nice Christmas this year, it was lovely having our Jane home even if she did spend so much time catching up on her sleep.
Little jack from next door was  in our house loast night, except he is getting bigger jack now, he really has grown and getting to be a big boy now. He followed Vin in when he went to get the logs and coal, and wouldn't go out. our Jessie caught sight of him and jumped down off the sofa and her blanket and disappeared upstairs, but she did reappear later when he had gone and she knew it was safe.
Us n Christmas morning with little Jessie who really enjoyed her presents.

Friday 3 January 2020

Friday!

Is it me or do you lose track of the days over Christmas? Could have sworn that today was Saturday when I woke up. Trouble arising between America and iran, headlines of the news today, hope that doesn't cause another war situation.
Heatwaves in Australia still very bad with bush fires out of control in Sydney and new South Wales. Temps of 40 degrees there Phew, don't think we coulod manage that here.Wonder if it is to do with climate change after all.
We are fortunately quite cool here sun is shining today but a cold atmosphere.  We willmake do with our coal fires thankyou. Vinput a log on the fire last night and I was watching it burn up and flame and you could see why the fires take hold and houses go up loke  tinder boxes.  Something to be said for the English weather after all.
Went off to podiatary yesterday afternoon, and came home inthedark, it gets dark so early these days. Nice to see some of the lights onpeoples houses though.  Got my toe padded up again and foot put into the open sandals once more for the timebeing.  Feels like I amwalking on a stilt onone side, Theright foot is flat and the left isup onthe sole.very odd.
Little Jessie was on her blanket when we left and still there when we returned, hadn't moved i don't think, funny little cat. She came upstairs last night jumped on the bed climbed up on top of Vin and sat there for a while so he could stroke her. then all og a sudden she jumps off and goes downstairs to her blanket again I suppose. Gosh she does love him. !
She likes her fire though and often lies in front of it with her face on the wooden fender. looks lovely.

All Over Nearly!

Christmas and new Year all but gone now. Just to eat the leftovers, not that we bought too much this year except maybe for shortbread. That will go over the months though. Now we are talking about taking down the decorations, but we have till the 6th to do that.
Really nice Christmas this year it was lovely to have jane home, and Jessie bonded with her really quickly this time, didn't run away. We had our traditional G&T at midnight on New year's eve watching the fireworks from London on the box. A few nibbles andlate to bed but it was nice. Don't think our jessie noticed much .
Podiatry appointment today at 3'o'clock so no particular rush but will get our coffee in before we go there.
Very quiet in the neighbourhood over Christmas both sets of neighbours were away for the festive period, so it was pretty dead in the road.  Wonder what will happen this year, it does have a nice ring to it 2020 and a new dcade too.  Terrible bush fires in Australia, they look awful, a lot of people have lost their homes totally and loads of animals too. terrible to see on the screen. So hard to put out, nothing much they can do to help. The firefighters apparently are exhausted and the heat and the winds don't help either. They need some good rain.
Our Christmas fireplace.
Happy New Year Jessie!
