Flurry of Activity!

Startedearly this morning with a phone call from Bullens to ask about my supplies. Vin explained that he had contacted Coloplast and they were dealing with it, so she said she would ring back when they got the prescription.  Then I got moving and the doorbell went, therewas I in the bathroom getting washed and Vin was outside saying the Podiatrist was here! It was indeed, the very nice mark from Thornton, already masked and aproned and waiting for me downstairs.  So feet all dressed and repadded and dealt with.
Vin spent yesterday getting the room ready downstairs so at leaast all was niceand clean. Looks like a pre Christmas do!
Jessie of course ran away, she never likes people in the house except for our Jane of course!  She gets very worried when anyone new comes to the house.
I'm keeping out of the way I am!

More Coronavirus!!

Never mind self-isolation, we are all now in lockdown. Only allowed out to get essential shopping, medical supplies or one walk a day for exercise. Otherwise stay at home.  Doesn't apply to essential workers like our Jane and anyone who works in the N.H.S.
Hasn't really bothered us since we are not social much, and we don't have a family, most of them now being in Australia.  Vin went off to Tesco on Saturday, and got a good shop which will last us till he next goes out. He is being very careful keeping away from people and social distancing, but there are dreadful stories all the time in the papers of people doing stupid thing. The lockdown came about because last weekend there were hoardes of people on Snwdonia and in places like the Lake Districe, treating the enforced isolation like a Bank Holiday! Totally ignoring public advice.
The only appointment i had was at the podiatry clinic but they are trying to cut down on visits, so we were advised to contact the community service at Thornton. Vin did that and got an appointment for friday afternoon. Anyway yesterday we got another phone call from them to say that they are cancelling all appointments for people over seventy! Nothing more. Vin rang back to ask what we should do in that case and later a community podiatrist rang back to say that someone would visit on Friday to do the dressings. So that's it. Don't know what will happen after that.
Otherwise it is same old same old for us!
Jessie is totally un affected by everything, she just carries on as normal. We are joking that she is self-isolating on jane's bed. that is till I come into the room then she jumps off to go and see what her daddy is doing. Charming!
Love this one!

Tootsies!

Yesterday off we went to SAintree to the podiatry appointment, out of our semi-self isoation. It seemed strange to me, that there was so much traffic on the roads, quite busy on the way there, but when we got to Aintree it was very quiet. Suppose the no visiting rule has made a big difference.
Talking to Cathy my podiatry lady, she was saying a lot of clinics are cancelled, separate plaes set up in the hospital to deal with the virus patients, and dressings to be done in the community clinics.  I have an appointment there on the 17th April but have to contact the local clinic to get the dressings done in the meantime.  The waiting area there was deserted, only one other couple and later another man came in but everyone sitting well away from each other. It's like the plague!  Appreciate the seriousness of it all though.
Jane has been ringing up every day, while out o a toddle to see what is left in the supermarkets. She is doing ok really and is going in on Sunday as an extra shift to help out.
Jessie has been following the self isolating rule as well, and has been going up to Jane's bed in the daytime to have a sleep where it is nice and quiet. She soon moves when I go in there to use the computer though!
Hope you have stockpiled some cat food for me?  None of that cheap stuff mind!

CORONAVIRUS!!

Seems to be getting quite serious, aqnyone over seventy being urged to stay at home, avoid crowded places etc.,  Airlines grounded and stafflaid off, businesses closing, carphone Warehouse have announced they are closing all their stores with the loss of 3,ooo jobs and also recently on the news Laura Ashley to close after they have gone into administration. Don't think that will be the end of it either, we think it will be the tip of the iceberg, there are probablylots of businesses out there who are living on the edge who will fold because of this.
China hasa lot to answer for!!
At least we are fine touch wood, Vin has done a wonderful job of keeping the shopping going, and our house supplied with goods. He went to Tesco's on Saturday and got most of the things we needed, top of the list being cat sprinkles, cat food, and cat litter. Guess who is number one on his list for provisions.
Said cat is keeping up her spirits with frequent visits to her Daddy to see what he is doing, also self isolating in Jane's bedroom (when I am not there!)
I've got him! Keep off!

Early Up!

Early up for us,this morning, because I had an appointment at the podiatry clinic for 10 o'clock. We just about got there on time, but no matter because we usualy have to wait a while anyway. Went in and saw the podiatrist we have only seen once before and i wasn't keen, but she was nicer today a bit more chatty.
Since we got out of there by a quarter past eleven we decided to come home instead of going for a Costa, for two reaswons really, firstly Vin thought it would be better to keep away from crowded places and also it was a bit early really.  So home it was, changed and time on here instead.
All talk at the moment is about the Corona virus which is looking quite bad at the moment, not necessarily here but certainly in Italy and China. It appears that it will hit some businesses quite badly, certainly ones where ther are likely to be crowds. People panic buying, especially loo paper and tinned foods like tomatoes and pasta as well. Goodness knows why!
Little Jessie isn't bothered,  she  didn't want feeding when vin went down to get his cup of tea, but did follow him up and settled on his bed down by his feet for a while till he got going.
Little Jessie no sprinkles and no cream cake either!

Very Sad Week!

On saturday when vin was going off to tescos he said he saw a paramedic rushing into one of the houses along the road, then when he came back later there was a police car outside the house. not looking good he said.  It appeared later that it was the lady of the house, shame, we have known the couple for a long time and their son who is married and lives away but luckily not too far.
Then last night he was talking to the girl who lives in our end house of the block, and she told him that their lovely little dog had died on friday. Apparently it had previously had a few small epileptic fits but it had then had a very big one on friday that it had not recovered from. It was a beautiful little dog with the waggiest tail you have ever seen, only small and really cuddly, it would have hit the girls for six. So a sad weekend all round really.
Monday morning and nothing much going on really. So nice and quiet and a normal day.
No sprinkles Jessie! Oh Dear!

Tinternet Probems!

Yesterday it was an early visit to the podiatry clinic in Aintree, but not too bad. The wait was about three quarters of an hour but it was the doctors day and that is always longer. Quite busy too, saw the nice joanne and the really nice Dr Oui who I really like, he knows me well and always gives good advice.
Left there about twelvish so decided to go for a costa. last week we wenr there   but the weather was terrible and it was absolutely heaving so we turned round and came home. yesterday it was much quieter and very pleasant, sat at our usual table and vin had an Americano and i had a flat white.Very nice too.
Home for lunchtime and a bit of a fiddleon the computer, which was really playing up yesterday. kept getting the 401 messages every time I signed up to a site andnothing was workingproperly. Mr Fixit had a go at it and eventually rebooted and rerouted the computer and got it going again. Thought it was going to be a problem this morningtoo but it righted itself so all is ok touch wood as they say.
Weather not too bad over the last few days so maybe the fields will start to dry out, the ditches and the fields round here have been sodden for a long while now so could do with drying out. The poor farmers will be wanting to plant their crops for the summer and at the moment it looks too muddy.
Our Jessie has been living her nice quiet normallife loving the fire and the heater, she seems to like being in a warmspot, and as long as she gets her daddy fix every now and again she is very happy.
Yep! Quite happy!

Staying In!

Monday Tuesday and Wednesday, we are at home. Avoiding crowds for the moment, not panicking but no need to go anywhere really and at the moment best to avoid crowds.   An awful lot of media coverage about this Coronavirus which does seem to be spreading a bit. Schools closed and fears about it spreading.
Otherwise not a lot happening really, the flooding seems to have lessened somewhat, but the people affected by that will be clearing up after the worst. Mostly it was areas of Lancashire and Yorkshire, and the Fens area of the Midlands where it is flat. Awful pictures on the news of peoples houses up to the windows in water, absolutely deluged. Would cost millions to put right.
Meanwhile Jessie is carrying on as normal, she came upstairs last night to have a sit on Vin's chest, must have wanted a cuddle from him.  Sits there like a princess for a while then all of a sudden gets up and jumps off having recharged her batteries! Toddles out of the bedroom with her tail up, we say night night and she goes off quite happy.
