Weekend! Nearly!

Well Friday anyway. When you retire the weekend doesn't really matter  all the days are much the same really, the only difference  is that Vin goes to Tesco on Saturday and Sainsbury's on Sunday, so we get stocked up for the week between them.
This morning a delivery came from QVC via the postman of chocolate brownies which we have for our Christmas pudding. One of those on a plate with a dollop of Creme Fraiche and a few raspberries is perfection. Suits us anyway! They are now in the freezer till the due date.  Enough of the "C" word till nearer the time.
We have of course stayed in today,  it all seems to be quite quiet everywhere todday, maybe everyone is getting ready for going back to school next week. Glad of that however the coffee shops will be quieter. Talking of coffee shops, Costa was bought some years ago by Whitbread for 19 million and Coca Cola has just bought them now for 4 Billion.! Now that is a good investment.  Money makes money it seems.
Little Jessie has been outside for  few short minutes twice today, both of them  she sat in front of the back door waiting to be let in.
He carried her inside and put her in front of me for a nice stroke, but she wasn't happy and struggled to go. Ah well you cannot win them all.

Yesterday and Today!

Yesterday was an appointment at Aintree  for one thirty. That breaks the day up nicely but  it is still a rush to get there on time. Vin went off to park and then left me, not for long because Cathy called me in after a few minutes.  Shehad a look at the feet and did a bit of scraping, and asked the orthopist to check the slipper that we had with us.Seems that they were thinking that the sole was rubbing the foot.so she swapped the insole round to give more support underneath. Vin came back after parking in the  outside park where you get a half hour free, so we were gambling that it wouldn't be any longer.  At the end of the appointment he pushed me towards the waiting area and absolutely ran off to get the car in case it  ran out of time. Funny really because in the end the barrier was up so he needn't have bothered!  Home then for lunch then I couldn't be bothered coming back upstairs so doing this a day late. Never mind!
Today in for a change and trying to make an appointment to get my hair cut and blowed but having a problem getting anywhere, the one I phoned in Formby couldn't make sense of an awful lot of noise in the background and the girl on the phone said it was a bad line, she wasn't making much sense anyway. The one I phoned in Hightown was an answerphone,  which I hate so just hung up.  Had a great conversation with someone who was supposed to be from Talk Talk and he was going " this is talk talk here just give me your bank details and we will get back to you, Funnily enough they  hung up!  Jane rang up at lunchtime too, she is worried because a letter we sent for her birthday hasn't arrived, hope it hasn't gone missing.
Jessie has been in her basket most of the morning, just got up when I came up here after lunch! I think her basket is too comfy.
Way too comfy!

Specs!

Vin went off this morning to get his glasses from Specsavers. His appointment was for  eleven thirty but he got there early, as we normally do. Seems to go in our family none of us, including Jane hate being late, so we always arrive in plenty of time. They had his glasses ready for him and his prescription which he didn't pick up last time.  His glasses are great, look really good, and a bit different from his usual.
He  nipped into Waitrose because we like a type of biscuit that they do with little bits of coffee in, and he got two packs of those. We did have one with our morning coffee and it was delicious, a bit of a treat really because we very rarely go to Waitrose these days. So we haven't had those for an absolute age. He also went to the library to renew his books and then came home in time for coffee. Good timing Vin.  He also was very brave and called in to a hairdressers near to the old one I used to go to. They have moved and gone very expensive and a bit poncey for me. He got a price list which looks quite reasonable so I might be giving them a ring soon.
Our Jane rang this morning, she had a good time yesterday with her mates, getting back at three she said!  She was off to Tesco to buy some things for the curry she likes making with chick peas and potato. Seems she is after our money so she can buy a house. They are very expensive in the area she lives in though which is a shame. It is a real problem getting on the property market.
Jessie has been out this morning. Apparently she was on the bed this morning and jumped over me but I didn't feel her at all, must have been fast asleep.  She was out at lunchtime for a while and then sat on the doorstep so he had to run to let her in. Little princess.
Sitting here waiting for my cream cake!

Happy Birthday to Jane !

Many many Happies Jane, a nice round thirty five today. It seems like yesterday that we had her in Aintree in their Maternity unit which is not there any more.  She was seen by Vin at first because it was a Caesarian and she was taken off upstairs to the special care baby unit. A healthy 9lb 10 oz  and the staff were thrilled to have a good sized baby to dress up.
She has been a good kid , and a joy to have mostly. We have had ups and downs but so has everyone.  Hope she has a lovely day today, she rang up on her way to the bus  to go into the city centre to meet some friends from Ticketmaster and then go to the gay bingo later.  She always has a good time there. Hope you win loads.
Cool and blowy today it was really cold yesterday and I have actually had  the electric blanket on for the last couple of nights. I hate being cold at night so it is a lovely cosy bed for me. Vin of course doesn't have his on because he is far more hardy than I am , but...he is in his long sleeved shirt!
Little Jessie has her own comfy spot in her basket which she really loves.  That was a good buy as it is a little bit bigger so she can snuggle into it.
Remember this in Greens in 2006, veggieburger and chips?
Cosy and waiting for cream cake!

Happy Birthday To You.

Happy Birthday to Vin for today, a sprightly 68 although he says his knees are going! His Princess didn't wake him up this morning but she was waiting when he went down to get coffees. Jane rang early to wish him a Happy Birthday too which was nice, she was off to Tesco later because she needed some bits and pieces for the weekend.
We went off to Dobbies this morning for a coffee I said i would treat him because we have used our vouchers for the month already. Had a bit of a mooch first  and noticed that  the first signs of Christmas things going up. Loads of cards and calendars and  the first decorations up too. Big sale of garden things now as well mostly barbecues and chimneas. Just the thing for the rainy day it is today. We had our coffees then, I had a flat white in a poncey little cup and Vin had a latte with hazelnut syrup which he likes.  Shopping then to get our cherry cake, shortbreads and some pasta sauce and also tea lights which were on offer. So a successful trip and a treat!
Actually the weather is very patchy today, we went through bright sunshine and rain as well. Very odd.  It is a strange journey because you quite often go through patchy weather. Home to a fairly dry home  and dry roads
Jessie was fast asleep in her basket when we got home, not one for greeting you at the door that one, she did plonk herself right in the doorway when I came down from getting changed though!
Nice picture of a posing cat!

Our Anniversary!

23rd August 1973 we were married at Alexandra Hall Register Office in Crosby. It was a Friday and it poured with rain, but it didn't matter to us. The hall was knocked down years ago unfortunately because it was actually a lovely building .  It is now a block of retirement homes.  I wouldn't change much except that I wish my health was better, but wouldn't change Vin, and our Jane was a blessing. She is 35 in a couple of days on the 27th, and Vin's birthday tomorrow  so it has always been a busy week. The best times were when we stayed in Orlando we used to go somewhere special on each of the days. Happy days!
We haven't been anywhere today it is raining again anyway, and quite cool and blowy. Maybe it will brighten up tomorrow.
Our Jane rang up just before lunch on her way to  Tesco to get some juice, she was bemoaning the fact that she has a car sitting outside but cannot use it because of her eye.  She was having lunch today with Jo one of her friends from university who is also a radiographer in another hospital in Manchester.  She rung up after she had been to say she was stuffed with pizza having been to Pizza Hut for their buffet lunch. Hope she enjoyed the salad!!
Little Jessie has really settled into her new basket and gets comfy quickly.  She looks lovely.
Boo!  I'm coming for my breakfast!

Off Out !

Just an appointment to Aintree to the podiatry clinic. It was for one thirty so what we normally do is have our coffee as usual but a bit earlier, and then get ready. Leave the house at around one and most often get there right on time. Vin goes off to park and I go in and wait.  Didn't have to wait long today because Cathy came for me quite quickly, took me off to her room.
Not a lot to do now actually, it is a matter of padding to protect the toe from any further damage till the operation with Mr Butcher in September.  She has put a pad on the left foot as well in case that breaks down because there is a callous on it.
Meanwhile Vin was playing games in the car park in and out of the high rise one and then in the outdoor one where you  can park for half an hour free. Luckily Cathy finished with me very quickly so we were on our way home by about a quarter to two. Lunch was yogit for me and humus and pitta bread for Vin.
Jessie raised her head up when we came in the door but doesn't bother getting up to greet us. Charming!  Vin has brought the new cat basket in from the back of his car last night and  surprise surprise she actually went into it. She spent ages padding it first and then settled down for a while.  Very comfy she looked too.
I shall lie here and trip people up, but not my Daddy!

Tuesday 21 August 2018

In Today Out Tomorrow!

Nowhere to go in particular today so it was a day in for us today. Doesn't matter, Vin had some sending off to do. One of them was a package for me which was a top to return to QVC which I had ordered thinking it was really nice. When it arrived I had my doubts but tried it on this morning and it was worse than I thought. Very creased and very long too, but Vin pointed out that the models they use on screen are very tall so it wouldn't have looked so long on them. Anyway that has gone back now for a refund.
Quite a nice day today with a bit of sunshine now and Vin has gone outside for a bit and also to see if  he can tempt Jessie out there too.  Knowing him he will probably come in after a while saying it is too hot out there!
Coming in soon for my cream cake!

Monday 20 August 2018

A Light Bulb Moment !

When Vin went to Tesco on Saturday he also went to Homebase because he was looking for a specific light bulb for one of our lights. It seems that all of the lights in our house have different bulbs and fittings which makes life very awkward these days. Anyway on Saturday he got what he wanted and found that they were reduced by quite a bit. This morning he decided to go back and get stocked up because they are phasing out things like halogen light bulbs as directed by the EU. Typical! the EU telling us what to do again.  He returned with a big bag of them, all different sorts. Spent about £12 but they are worth quite a bit more.
He has been looking after Charlie on of our neighbours cats over the weekend, and went to let her in at lunchtime because he had let her out after feeding this morning. When he went round  their little dog was back and whoever had brought the dog back had also let the cat in so he came back quite happy with that.
Our Jessie  has been around and about mostly in the house, sitting on his knee this morning and rolling over on the floor looking up at him.
If I lie here and look appealing can I have some cream cake?
Puurlease!

Friday 17 August 2018

Ding Dong!

Just getting up and ready this morning, and I was in the bathroom when ding dong the doorbell went. I thought oops it is the Marmite that Jane had ordered but it was Michelle from down  the road who asked Vin if he would look after her cat while she was away for the weekend. Apparently her sister usually does it but she is ill at the moment so I think Vin was the last resort. He has looked after her before so he does know her.
We were going to go out today but in the end neither of was fired up enough so we didn't bother the weather is very dodgy too has been drizzly rain off and on also quite blowy so we just didn't bother. It is now very grey and overcast so looks horrible out.
Jessie has not been out much today at all. She has been mooching about following Vin around. She did sit on his knee at lunchtime  and looked lovely till she started nipping at him. Of course he says she is only playing, that cat can do no wrong!
She seems to have gone off this basket which she used to use all the time. He has a spare in the back of his car maybe that would be more comfy.

Thursday 16 August 2018

Sunny and Blowy!

Well it started off bright and blowy but it is now dull and blowy. There are some sheets on the line  which will dry as long as there isn't any rain but it looks ok so far.
We stayed in today because we were out yesterday so mostly we stop in the day after.  I got a letter this morning to go for the toe op on the 21st of September at 7.30 in the morning. That is the worst bit actually, getting up early in the morning but it has to be done.  Bite the bullet as they say!
Poor Jane is getting up early at the moment she is on eight to eight today so will be ringing up on her way home tonight as long as the phones are working properly. Her shifts are terrible don't know how she copes, she says they are all on her phone. Well I couldn't cope with that. At least teaching was the same hours every day plus of course the parent's evenings which went on quite late sometimes.
We were listening to the Jeremy Vine show while we were having our coffee this morning and there was a discussion about hoarding. Apparently it is now officially a disease.  We had a good laugh about that because Vin is a terrible hoarder. So was his sister, I wonder if it was hereditary? The back room is full of his "stuff" God knows what, he will not let me in there! Ah well he is lovely though.
Little Jessie was on his knee at coffee time, and he was stroking her when she started nipping him. Enough for him to say Ow! then he quickly said she was only playing, so I told him to stroke her a bit more and she was definitely going for him. Didn't help that I was going "bite".  You had better be careful Jessie he will  be confiscating your cream cake.
I don't get grumpy, especially if there is cream cake involved.

Tootsie Time!

The morning was arranged around the appointment at  Aintree for one thirty. We had a coffee at twelve and then went to get ready.
Left the house at one and got there pretty much on time. Arrived in reception and sat down for a few minutes and called in by Helena.  She had just come back from Orlando so we had a nice chat about that. They stayed on the Disney Resort which sounds really good especially since you get the food in as well. That always used to be
a pain there having to go out each night to get dinner!
The appointment went very quickly mainly because the toe is healing really well so is just being padded now to protect it.
Jessie was in the middle room when we got home. She actually gave me a nice miaow, at least I think it was a nice one, you can't tell with her.
Are you eating my cream cake!

Tuesday 14 August 2018

Bits and Bobs!

We are both in today, Vin has been busy doing the bedding getting it on to wash  and making up the new one. He has put the quilt cover on the line, when he did so it was dull but now the sun is shining brightly so it will probably dry well.
He printed off the letter that I had done to John and Ann which I had been writing since July! I tend to write them  in dribs and drabs when anything comes to mind and in between doing things. Consequently my letters seem to ramble on mostly about things that come into my head at that time. They don't seem to mind though, they probably say it's another letter from that mad woman!
Jessie has been in and out today, she does tend to follow Vin around when she is awake, and when Jane rang at lunchtime she was looking for some food so was miaowing a bit at him. He ran in for the phone and was chasing her round waiting for her to miaow but she wouldn't. Typical.
Get off my cake!!

Monday 13 August 2018

One in One out!

It was a day in for me but Vin had an appointment at Specsavers for twenty to twelve this morning. He left on time and got there ten minutes early, he said he waited for a bit then went upstairs for his eye test.  He said they did all of the right tests and the optician said his sight had changed a bit and when he put the old prescription up followed by the new one Vin could see a change so he has gone with getting  two new pairs. They do a two for one offer so it isn't too bad.  He will get the money from Medicash too so that is a good help. He got them up online for me to see what he has chosen and they look very good.
He got back about one so we have had a late coffee and a late lunch which was my usual yogit and crips. Vin had the same today, and I came up to do this.
Jessie came in and out once Vin was  home. He was in the middle room with her box of biscuits and a pack of wet food asking her which she wanted, she nosed the biscuit box over so he gave her those!!  He talks away to her and quite often she will answer him with a loud miaow.
Cream cake today Jessie ! Licking your lips already?

Friday 10 August 2018

Post for Jessie !

Funny thing this morning. Our post has been very sparse for the last few days, but Vin came up and said that there had been a delivery. He said ask me who is it for, and I replied you, he shook his head and I said me? he shook his head so I said the cat? Yes right, even addressed  to her as well. Wonder where that has come from. I had no idea until our Jane rang up later to say she couldn't sleep because there was a massive storm going on and was keeping her awake. She had been on nights as well so was struggling. She had seen it somewhere as free sample so sent off for it. Turns out it was a pack of Iams cat food and a voucher for two pounds so he willget her some tomorrow when he goes to Tesco. Nice job Jane it really gave us a laugh.
Didn't go out today because we have been out twice this week as it is so we stopped in. The weather is very odd as well. We have had rain and the thunder that woke Vin up at four this morning but didn't wake me. One advantage of being deaf, I take the hearing aids out and I am dead to the world..  It is now bright sunshine and quite warm again.
Vin has been doing some tidying up of bits and pieces this morning, trying to downsize maybe?
Jessie was in and out of the middle room, just long enough to get her nails cut. They grow quite long in what seems like no time. You notice when she gets on the bed and they get caught on the bedspread.
I am keeping my claws to myself thank you.!

Two Days Worth!

Getting to be a habit, this is. We were delayed yesterday at Aintree so  given the fact that we were up early, we stayed downstairs.
It was quite an eventful morning all in all. Started off with an appointment with  Mr Butcher in the fracture clinic. not that I have any fractures but that is where his clinic is. He had a look at the offending toe and then decided to do some work on the two toes to prevent it happening again. He is to remove two bones from the toes and put wires in for about six weeks to keep them straight.  Signed the agreement forms and then went to the pre-op department where we were seen straight away. A heck of a lot of questions and form filling by the nurse in charge, then went to the  room where you are weighed had height done and bl9ood pressure done then homewards.
We just about had enough time for a Costa so we went to the Aintree retail park, quite busy it was too but we got a good seat where we usually go,  and Vin  went off to get the drinks. I had a really lovely flat white and he had an Americano  and we shared a packet of little wafer biscuits.  Surprised at the mix of people in there actually, a lot of younger yummy mummies and also older ones too.

Today we  have stayed in, Vin has made an appointment for a sight test at  Specsavers on Monday. He reckons that should give him time to get back for his coffee. He does love his coffee my man !
Home for lunch and little Jessie hadn't moved all morning. She tends to get up early, gets her daddy going then goes to sleep in the front room while we are out. When she raises herself she comes straight in and goes to her daddy .
Her best friend!  Both of them look quite snooty here!

Tuesday 7 August 2018

Today and Yesterday !

Today is a double whammy !  I had an appointment at Aintree, this time at the nephrology clinic but it was at four thirty. Not used to afternoon ones but this one turned out quite well. When we arrived Vin dropped me off at the front entrance and went off to park. He was back in a couple of minutes  having bagged a space on the ground floor near the exit. Up to the reception and went along , called to have my weight and blood pressure done immediately and sat in the waiting area. Expected it to be busy but there were only three waiting. Lots of doctors on duty and the others went in really quickly.  I went in to see the head honcho who I haven't seen for ages. He was lovely, Ilike him. Didn't alter much, except that my blood count was a bit low so he suggested that I had two injections of Aranesp instead of the one because we had a few left. I started smiling because Vin loves bringing them in to me, he waves it about and goes "Here's your injection" now he can do it twice !
Home quickly actually, just beating the rush hour.  I know Vin wasn't looking forward to that one. Sorry! but all in all it went really well.
When we got home little Jessie was just about rousing herself. She greets her daddy with a big meaow and lay down in the doorway to trip you over.  She likes doing that.
Waiting patiently !

Out Yesterday In Today !

We were out yesterday at Aintree at the podiatry clinic. The appointment was for one thirty so we had our coffees at the right time then got ready to go. Made quite good time so  got there right on the nail. Vin went off to park and within about five minutes I was called in by Cathy. Had a bit of a chat and were  joined by a student nurse doing the rounds.  She was very interested and chatty, eager to learn. Some of them just stand there and look and don't communicate at all, that one will go far I think. The foot is healing up nicely now so she put a lighter dressing on it but still the padding, won't be long till it has gone though I think. Vin joined me there quite early as he parked quickly on level three he said. They have implemented the new system there, which reads your number plate as you enter and then when you have finished and go back to your car, you key in your number in the machine  and the barrier lets you out.  No cheaper though unfortunately !
Home for our lunch and actually we were both tired so I didn't bother coming back up to do this.
Today we have stopped in but might go out tomorrow. It started off quite dull today but has brightened up considerably and gone very warm again and sunny now. In fact in the room that I am typing this in it is really bright and almost too sunny.
Little Jessie has been in mostly but did go out just before lunchtime. Vin says he has to ease her out of the cat flap or she stubbornly will not go out. Then she sits on the flags just away from the flap and waits for him to open the door for her. Of course he jumps up and obeys her. !
Can I come in now ?
