Summer!!

If you like them cold and blowy!. Typical summer weather that I remember from our holidays on the coast at Angelsey, sitting on the beach with goosebumps and wondering why we bother. The first year that we went to Florida when Jane was small was a revelation, hot and humid but you didn't get cold and shivery!. Great holidays they were and started a love affair with America, finishing with gorgeous New England ones.
Jane rang up atour coffee time, she was off to get somelunch and had been for her eye tests etc., she had a vision test done and saw the Doctor. She has to have another examination /test done in September, so is getting something done.
Little Jessie has not been much in evidence really, she woke Vin up this morning because he had his hand out of the bed and she was licking it to get him up. Clever cat!
Cold and blowy this afternoon, and we actually had carrot and coriander soup for our lunch. Who would believe that in the middle of July! supposed to be our summer and it is colder than Australia and it is their Winter!
Where is the elusive cat I wonder? Probably asleep in the front room. Or she could be outside with Vin who is scratching away at the weeds in the garden.
is she having a mooch or is she looking for her Daddy?

Funny Day!

Woke up a bit late this morning, I think mainly because Jessie didn't wake Vin up for feeding early today. It was actually quite dark this morning so probably that makes a diference. She does tend to move earlier when it is sunny.  Vin got up to go to the bathroom and lo and behold she was outside the door when he came out!! Cheeky monkey!
Vin was going to Tesco because there were some things he had run out of and he wanted to get a new cat scoop and some light bulbs. . Then it started raining, really pouring too, it was tipping down the window. He rang up to say that it had just eased off a bit but he was parked at the end of the car park but was on his way back. He had looked at light bulbs at Homebase and they were £8 !!! Good grief, that is the price of low energy bulbs, and to be honest they don't seem  to last any longer than the old ones used to.
Home for our coffees and the post was at last there with my batteries. Quite late actually, he rang up  last week and expected them Monday but maybe they were out of stock usually they deliver very quickly. Still they are free so can't  complain.
Little Jessie is very quiet today as she is most days really. We don't actually see an awful lot of her during the day but as Vin says she is just a quiet cat!
She does venture out in the back garden when Vin is out there, especially if the weather is sunny, never in the rain or drizzle. Got more sense!

Still Confined!

Yep, still in today but getting a  tad fed up now. Really do not feel like going out with the foot,  hobbling and bandaged. Podiatry on Friday so maybe pick up after that we hope.  It must be very boring for Vin though although he fills his days with bits and bobs.  Yesterday for example he spent most of the morning trying to organise his savings ( ha! that seems to be a dirty word these days) no-one really appears to want your money to save, and interest is absolutely dire. Round about 1/2 % or  1% if you are lucky, it's a joke really.  Anyway he sorted it in the end.
Just seen an advert for Gourmet cat food, Looks like a high class meal on a plate. It's a wonder that Vin hasn't bought any for his precious Jessie :)
 Waiting patiently!

Mundane Monday!!

It is indeed a very mundane life we are  leading at the moment.  It is largely a case of one day leading in to another. It is quite difficult though getting round because it's a case of hobbling everywhere, which isn't very attractive. Still we are getting there,  and I have an appointment at the podiatry clinic on Friday  so we will see what is happening then.
Vin has been doing his bits and bobs each day, including the shopping, cleaning up after the cat, and cooking teas . He works really hard keeping the house going Bless Him XXX
Don't really see much of Jessie, once she has woken Vin up for feeding in the morning which is usually early, he gets up to feed her and generally has a cup of tea at the same time. Then she normally goes to sleep somewhere in one of her baskets, and that's mostly it for the day. Just shows herself when she is hungry! Typical cat. :)
This is the basket in the front room  which was destined for the animal rescue shop, but she took it over first. Cute monkey !

From Cloudy to Sunny,

Started off very overcast and cloudy this mornibng, but it is now lovely and sunny. Good for the golf in The Royal Birkdale course just up the road from here. Definitley not a good week to go into Southport because the traffic will be horrendous.  Not much better on the railways either because the trains are running a  weird service. Vin heard lots of express ones going through the village earlier.
Didn't do a blog yesterday, we didn't move from the middle room after coffee and lunch, but it doesn't matter, it wasn't a very nice day actually so no problems.
Little Jessie is out and about a bit, Vin had to shove her out of the cat flap earlier because she was upchucking all over in the kitchen, so that made him sigh.  I said "well it's your cat" and that made him more grumpy as well.
Sorry Daddy she says!

Happy Birthday to Me !!

Yet another one, they come round with monotonous regularity don't they? 71 this year can't believe how the years have gone really, I can well remember my 21st, that was a special occasion in those days, not so much now, it's more the 18th I think.  My parents took me for a meal in the River Room which was at the Pier Head in Liverpool, it was lovely actually and a terrific evening with a beautiful sunset.
Mostly my birthdays have been in schol or on school trips, so not the best.
Vin gave me a lovely card, with a lottery ticket for tonight so here's hoping it is a winner. Also an absolutely gorgeous bunch og beautiful white roses, haven't had fresh flowers for ages so that's nice. and..a very pretty little black and white cat that looks like Jess but is MINE. Really cuddly and appealing. I am going to call her Jinnie, always liked that name.
Jane was on nights last night, so will be asleep for most of today. Goodness knows how she manages to get to sleep in the sunshine though.
Little Jessie is asleep in the front room again, did surface we came down for coffee this morning . She had a bit of a look at my Jinnie but then ran off. Don't think she was too impressed. !
 Giving me the evils !!!

Tootsies!

At long last the day arrived and Friday was the day of the foot operation. Been a long haul but hopefully it is nearing the end now and there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Got there very early actually about seven thirty! which seems like the middle of the night to us, but Vin had all sorts of alarms going however, we were up before them. He waited with me in the waiting room, and we were called in for the various tests, exams, questioning etc., saw Mr Butcher, who drew a nice big arrow picture on the leg pointing to the place he was going to work on.   Eventually got changed and was taken off mid morning to the operation. Woke up in recovery with lovely hot blankets! Bliss for me! Soon moved to a different recovery room and coffee and toast, then home mid afternoon.
Saturday didn't do much, mostly watched the tennis finals which was a disaster for Venus Williams, Sunday had a bit of a go on the computer, and did the crosswords, so brain still working! and watched the men's finals in the afternoon. My Roger Federer won for the record eigth time, absolutely amazing, what a player! He is always so nice too, never loses his temper or has a hissy fit like some of them. Well done my Roger.
Little Jessie has been round and about as usual, broke a glass vase on Saturday night which didn't please her Daddy because it went everywhere and he had to clean it up. Oh dear!
Ah but she loves him really!

Prep !!

Today we stayed in because we are out very early tomorrow morning. Not going to be easy that, but never mind!
Today was largely a day for getting ready.  Nice shower this morning, always a bit of a faff, because it involves getting the cuff on the foot and leg, the waterproof one so the bandage stays dry.  Jewellery off, nail varnish removed, clothing washed and all done. Pretty good.
Vin has just been trying to get some photos on snapfish which he was ages doing, since he had to load them one at a time. I would have given up long ago, but he kept going. and got there eventually. Well done lovely.
Little Jessie has been in and out today, asleep quite a lot, but did go out with Vin earlier.  The doorbell went at about ten to four, and it was a courier with a parcel for next door. Nothing odd about that, except that little Jessie didn't get up and scoot away upstairs like she usually does. So that is good, I wonder if  finally she is getting used to the sound of it.
This is the basket that was meant for the charity shop because she never used it. Then she started and now she is always in the front room, especially when she wants peace and quiet.

Nice and Sunny !

Woke up this morning to a much better day. Lovely and bright and sunny and totally different from yesterday. So we decided to do what we were going to do yesterday but didn't.
So off we went to Dobbies. it is nice in the sun, and you can have a good look round inside at the gifts etc., there was a sale on but there wasn't anything that we fancied. The house is pretty full of clutter anyway and we aren't really looking for more.  :)
We did have a good browse inside, and bought a few foodie things that we will use anyway, but no candle things much. At least not the Yankee candles, they seem to be disappearing from there.
Went for our coffee, and found a nice quiet table in the shade. We both had flat whites which ended up being mostly in the saucers. No just kidding, the girl had overfilled the cups so they spilt over the tops a bit ! Nice though, and since they are free you can't complain can you !!
Little Jessie hadn't moved when we got back, She was still in her basket on the sofa in the front room.  She seems to like the peace and quiet there.
Now where shall I goto trip her up?  Coming downstairs after changing my clothes, there she was lying full length along the bottom step!!!  Trying to get her daddy on her own?

Tuesday 11 July 2017

Are we Hibernating?

No not really. The thing is when you are retired you can choose just what you want to do, and this morning we woke up to dark and drizzle and very uncertain weather so we decided we would stop in since neither of us was fired up to go out anyway.  Probably tomorrow.
It is actually quite cool today too, I have put my fleece jacket on again after wearing a much lighter one for the past few weeks.  Vin got a letter from Ebico the gas firm today about the gas bill, and it going up. It was very confusing and he was an age working out which was the best tariff to go for, when he did he then tried to contact the number but was put on one of those music hold lines for ever. Why are they always awful tunes. When he eventually got through he was dealt with quite quickly and efficiently by the sound of it and it was all sorted.
Little Jessie hasn't been around much but then again she never is once she is fed and watered at morning time.  Shr did move around lunchtime to crawl up to her Daddy's neck and give him a nuzzle. AAAh!
She sprawls on the back of the sofa looking  lovely. XXX  doesn't come on me though.

Monday 10 July 2017

Pigs Ears!!

We will get to them later. Just another Monday otherwise. Vin decided to do the ironing mainly of the bedding. We will probably have a fairly quiet week, with no appointments apart from the foot operation one on Friday. That will be a very early start since we have to be there by seven in the morning. Oh my goodness that is so early for a person who isn't a morning person. Never mind, bite the bullet.
Not too bad today, a bit overcast and cloudy now but was quite nice earlier. Sine little Jessie woke her Daddy up at six o'clock this morning she had some food then went into her basket. This is the basket that was destined for the charity shop till she decided that she was going to use it in the front room where it is nice and quiet. She did wake up around lunchtime, ours not hers although she does get fed when she wants some. She certainly has her Daddy wrapped round her little paws!
This is what she does most evenings, she likes nuzzling up to his face from the back of the sofa. Judging by the look on his face he doesn't mind very much either.
Now to the Pigs Ears. We got a leaflet through the door this morning advertising all manner of goods for sale of items for dogs and cats for delivery. You can apparently get a bag of them, plus other horrible stuff like tripe and "other" offal , liver, etc., etc., Absolutely horrible especially for Vegetarians, which we are.
Jessie isn't though, she eats normal cat food.

Friday 7 July 2017

Tootsie Check!

Up early this morning, Vin was woken up much earlier by the puss who was around at five o'clock! That is definitely too early for me, he must love her because he said he had his hand out of the bed to cool it and then he felt this licking and it was madam  trying to get him up to feed her. He did go down then and made himself a cup of tea and came back to bed. I had no idea he had gone, one of the advantages of being deaf.  Then he got moving at about eightish, made quite good time and left the house at nine thirty.
Seated in the podiatry clinic at ten when my appointment was for  but didn't get in to the podiatry room till twenty to eleven so a bit of a wait, which there always is on a doctor day.  The foot was undressed and she came in to look, said that it looked fine for the operation next Friday, foot redressed and we were done.  Had a nice chat with Rachel who lives over the line to us at home, and we were talking about her two girls who we had known since they were tiny and walking over the bridge witheir daddy and their bikes to the school bus. She is going to be a granny come November, my, doesn't time fly.
Little Jessie was in her basket in the front room when we left and she was still there when we came back! What a life, mind she was up at five so she was probably tired! That's what Vin said anyway. The only time she moved was when the doorbell went with a parcel for our next door neighbour, and she belted upstairs like she had been shot. Aaah!
This is what Vin sees first thing in the morning when he wakes up, a little face on his tummy, trying to get him up, and it works!

Thursday 6 July 2017

Just a Quiet Day!

We didn't plan to go out anywhere today because we are off to Aintree tomorrow for a Podiatry appointment which is at ten o'clock so we will have to be up early for that.  We managed to get to the hair one at 10.30 yesterday so that was good.  Next  Friday is going to be really really early because we have to be there for seven          o'clock. That is very hard going.
Vin did the bedding this morning and managed to get the sheets on the line with it being a lovely warm sunny day.   Little Jessie was out for a bit this morning but not for long, Vin reckons she doesn't like the full sun. Most of the cats we have had have quite enjoyed the sunshine, Bobby was a real sun baby, she used to find a nice sunny spot and recline there. Rusty would go out quite a lot, but didn't like to get too hot.  Inky loved the heat whether it be sunshine or the fireplace. In the winter she would practically live in front of the fire where she would stick her little tongue out. Ah memories of lovely cats.
His baby posing in the garden!
These two would usually be together in the garden but they weren't exactly close actually.

Hair-Do!

Awake early this morning because I had a hair appointment at 10.30. The plan was to just have a baby coffee on waking then go to breakfast.Got ready to go out then and had a little bit of time on the computer before we went out.  Cloudy to begin with but beautifully sunny now, and Vin is in the garden doing a bit of weed burning.
Good hairdresser, I have actually been going for years and always had a good cut, this time was no exception. Helen has made a great job of it doing a nice spiky fringe and shortened the back where it had got straggly. Vin picked me up when I was finished, and we were going to go for a coffee out, but in fact it was too early for us so we came home to have our coffees at from the machine instead. nice and cheap, and good biscuits too.
Little Jessie got up early this morning, before us actually, and was sitting on the bed gazing lovingly at her daddy. Then once fed it was in her basket and there she stayed till we came home again. Now I think she is in the garden with him hope she keeps out of the way of the weed burner.

Trying to hide do you think?

Tuesday 4 July 2017

Nothing Doing!

Nothing on the horizon today, not going out so we stopped in and did our usual things according to our little routine, veery boring but it suits us nicely. Vin did a bit of clearing out, mainly packaging because it is the brown bin tomorrow.  I did some of my letter to John and Ann on the computer, which I need to get off fairly soon.
Vin said the weather over there in Perth is about the same as it is here, which is quite cool actually. The only thing is is that it is their Winter and our Summer!  We did have a brief heatwave which lastedabout three days then it has been all downhill since. Even Wimbledon was rained off twice yesterday.
Little Jessie has been in like us today, she did go out for a little while just before lunchtime and Vin said "Don't get your paws wet"  :) Not much chance of that really.  The doorbell went this morning and it was a man selling fresh fish, it's funny she didn't run to the door.  Vin had to turn him away because he said we are vegetarian!
"His" cat having a mooch.

Monday 3 July 2017

In Today

Just another mundane Monday!  Since we had to go out yesterday to the dressings clinic in Litherland,Vin didn't do his usual Sainsburys run so he did that this morning instead. We were up quite late but got got going fairly quickly, so he went off to Crosby in good time to get back for his coffee time.  Always important in our house.
I did a bit of mooching about on the computer upstairs, but nothing much going on, quite quiet today in fact.
Jane rang at lunchtime, she was on her way to the shop to get a sandwich, so was on a break, but will ring properly when she finishes at eight.
Little Jessie didn't wake her daddy up early this morning and we think it was because it was darker this morning. She has been quiet today and in her basket in the front room most of the day.  Vin says she is nocturnal and wakes up at night!
You can tell who she loves in this house!!
