All Systems Go!

Vin was up early  thismorning in case the Sky delivery came. It did actually, delivered by a lady who dropped it off at the door and gave Vin the instructions as to what to do with it. All efore breakfast too. He had already taken out the old box ready to replace it. So hopefully it will be all up and going before long. Vin is really good at fixing things so I am sure he will get it done. He hasjust come up actually to say it had takenhimall that time to get it organised, mostly to do with the card and getting that done. Good Job Vin!!
Captain Tom Moore reached his 100th birtday milestone today also. He has been in our news a lot lately, originally starting to do ten laps of his garden each day to raise £1000 for the NHS. His total is now £30,Million which is remarkable, it has all just captured the world's interest. He has also been promoted to  Colonel by the Queen which is nice for him too, and he had a fly past this morning as well. Well Done Colonel Tom!
Our Jessie of course disappeared when the front door bell went as she does. Reappeared later to smell the new box in the living room. Typical.
No doubt she was hungry again and that always wakes her up!

Sky!!

What a blow! Yesterday the Sky box gave up the ghost, and would not respond to any of Vin's recovery measures. Totally gone, along with all of the recording we had on it as well. Hence no Countdown for us or Corrie last night for that matter. Oh well, worse things happen at sea as they say!
Anyway, he rang someone up last night for advice and was told that Sky were not very helpful at the mment because off the lockdown but was given the number of a place in Northern ireland who would deliver a new box. Vin rang Sky up this morning and was told that  Sky would deliver a new box tomorrow, but the man would not come in the house, and would talk him through it all from a distance. Vin reckons he knows what to do anyso that is ok. How good is that!! Apparently we are classed as vulnerable because I am over 70 so get priority. So that's good.
Baby Boris!! The Prime Minister and his gorlfriend announced the birth of a healthy baby boy this morning,  Boris's sixth child and his third son.  A bit of good news though amid all of the gloom.
Much cooler yesterday and today, and quite blowy today as wel. Real change in the temperature over the last couple of days.
Bad news for B.A. workers today, as twelve thousand workers are to be made redundant.  that is a quarter of the staff, and an enormous number of people going to be in trouble.  Doesn't bode well for the holiday  industry.
Meanwhile here at home Jessie is still carrying on her life as normal,  our next door neighbour rang vin by mistake this morning and he rang back, had a bit of a conversation with her. She said that jack was walking a bit better, and she was waiting for the vets to ring her back with the results of some tests that had been done on him. Hope he is ok, he is a lovely little cat, full of character, and I am sure hates being on cage rest.  Jessie wishes him well, and is still asleep on her banket.
Staying out of the way of him, I might get chased!!

Lockdown Continues!

Week five and still in lockdown but looking at some of the pictures in the papers you do wonder at the mentality of some  people, out and not social distancing either.
However Boris is back and has already spoken about staying in lockdown and the need to be careful. Can't blame him for that since he had it quite bad, and I suppose he wouldn't want anyone else to go through it either. Talk on the radio of opening some shops etc., and when that would happen. That remains to be seen. Won't happen all at once anyway.
Jessie is still self isolating in Jane's room at the moment, although she did come up to see her Daddy this morning before breakfast, climed up his front and lay there looking all comfy and peaceful and padding him like mad.  He said would you like to stroke her!! I did and that's my lot for the day!!
Jack next door is still on cage rest which he doesn't like apparently, but he needs to do that for safety.  Hope he recovers soon, I like little Jack, he is a lovely cat and a real little character.
Jane sent us a picture of her goodies that she had bought from the M&S in Didsbury yesterday. She came home from nights, had a shower, and then went out early to catch the shop when it opened. She bought some nice things, and enough to keep her going for the week she reckons.
I've got him!!

Goodbye...Goodbye!!

Nope not to the blog, but to the Podiatry Clinic! After all these years too,Lost count of the number of years but it must be about four by now.  Quite a number of hospital admissions with a variety of foot infections, and quite a few operations for procedures to remove toes or do various things to them, finally they seem to be on the upturn and i have been discharged into the community care now.
We had an appointment yesterday at Aintree with them to see the doctor and surprise surprise it turned out to be Mr Butcher who has done all of the procedures so knew my feet. The toe which has been causing trouble for a bit now seems to be healing over because a while ago one of the podiatrists removed a bit of loose bone which was preventing healing  and that appears to have done the trick. it is healing over very well so he says it doesn't need any work doing to it now.  He was originally going to remove said toe and others but waiting proved the right path. Result, now discharged.
I thought they should all have lined the corridor and clapped!!
The hospital was very odd, very quiet because of the lockdown, and the only people on the corridors were the nurses and doctors and other medical personel.  Car parking was free which was a bonusSo that saved ys £3 pleasing Vin. No Costa Coffee afterwards because of the lockdown they are all shut so it was home for our coffees, very nice too.
Little Jack next door has been in the wars, he came home apparently with oil on him and walking awkwardly so our neighbour took him to the vets. He had lots of xrays done which apparently showed no broken bones but a deformity of the pelvis which the vet said he might have been born with. Anyway he was on cage rest, but she rang Vin up this morning to ask him if he could take a parcel in for her because she was at the vets agin, she wasn't happy with him. Hope he is ok, he is a lovely little cat, and quite often visits our back garden where Vin feed him biscuits. He has just come in to say they were back and Jack had had to have an enema oooh nasty! and he might need an operation. What a shame.
Jessie is still isolating, but on our bed , this time, not Janes bed. Vin was in the front room and she came to find him and settled on the bed.
Isolation.

All Change!

In these times of uncertainty things differ. Whereas vin usually goes shopping on a Saturday to Tesco and Sainsbury on a Sunday  he has altered that to going once a week to Tesco on a Wednesday so today is the day. He has just rung up to say the queue isn't too long and it tends to move quickly so he should be alright. He goes with a list so has a good idea of what he wants if it isinstock however the shelves appear to be almost normal again.
Just said on the news that speeding offences arethroughthe roof, wonder why? Maybe its the empty roads, our Jane was saying last night that therewere a lot of people out either walking or cycling, it looked like a Bank Holiday.  Stupid people think it is fine to speed because the roads are quiet and they can get away with it.
Jessie is not finding her little world disturbed too much. She gets fed when she wants, and she miaowsto tell Vin she is hungry. Jack boy from next door still comes to the back door to try and get in, Vin puts some biscuits through the cat flap and that seems to keep him happy.
Where's my Daddy?
Answer  gone to get your supplies.

The Animal!

I walked along the landing this morning, well toddled really and said to Vin "where is the animal?" He went mad and said she isn't an animal she is my cat!! ooops, that's me told then! Anyway she wasn't in the bedroom so Jane's bed was empty.
Still all the news is about the virus which is of course incredibly important, with the death toll still reaching high numbers.  The numbers in care homes very worrying, it must be terrible for their families who are not allowed to visit or be with their relatives.
Lovely sunny day here but still cool outside according to Vin who goes down for the paper in the mornings. Not that they are worth reading much, all about the virus or harry and Meghan having a hissy fit, over there in trump land. What a couple they are turning out to be!
The catty. (Not an animal!)

Monday 20 April 2020

Jennifer's World!

Vin wakes me up in the morning and says "How is Jennifer's World today?" Well the answer is the same old same old.fifth week in lockdown and so far no sign of slowing down.  Still thenumbers of deaths are high and admissions to hospital  still in the many thousands. Also the care homes ina dreadful state with a lot of residents dying too of the virus. Just unbelievable how this thing has spread, all from China.
The BBC have got themselves going with online lessons available for children while they are off school,  on their apps and all sorts of other devices too. Should help the parents a bit, those that are concerned anyway.
Still very quiet outside, not having the dentists in operation helps a lot, they usually have many cars outside which block up the road, and not many cars going up and down the road either. Like it used to be years ago.
Jessie is still in her self isolation in Jane's bedroom, asleep for ages on the end of the bed. She usually moveswhen I come in to use the computer but not today, she seems quite happy to stay there.
No doubt she will go and find her daddy soon.

Friday 17 April 2020

Tootsie Day!

A little bit of a change today with a visit from the podiatrist!  He comes on a Friday to redress my feet, complete with masks and all his stuff. Came and went quite early, tendsto come at the same time which is useful you are not left waiting all day. Lovely man, really friendly and down to earth.
Coronavirus still all over the news, every aspect of it being covered. Last night it was clapping for the carers which is a major problem it seems. A lot of older people dying and some care homes losing many of  their residents.   Very difficult for the relatives when they can't visit them but there are measures being made to get around this. Thankfully.
Jessie has taken herself off to hide somewhere, Vin can't find her so he worries. She does tend to run off when there is someone new in the house although not when jane comes home which is nice.
Favourite spot on the back of her Daddy's sofa!

Thursday 16 April 2020

Another Day Another Dollar Out!

Vin took himself off for the weekly shop to Tesco yesterday. Getting to be a regular day now that is. He got enough things to last the week mostly with a bit of a top up grom the local shop along the road.
Lovely weather today as it was yesterday, shame that people cannot go out really, we would be off to Dobbies by now but that is out, so at home instead.  Good job we have our coffee machine!
Jane rasng up this morning she had been to her Tesco's to get some things she needed, and a fair amount of chocolate too which was half price or less. they have obviously not sold their stocks because they were reducing everything by half or less so she was well pleased.
Nothing much doing online either really, people are beginning to start to know someone who has died or got the virus now.  certainly a terrible disease, the trouble is that yu don't know where or what it is and there is of course no vaccination against it yet because it is so new, but no doubt there are scientists all over the world racing to find one.
One little piece of good news is that a 99 year old man has been walking ten laps of his garden every day to raise he thought a thousand pounds for the NHS, well he did and more, the figure as I type this is now 12.8 MILLION!! Good for him.
Meanwhile here at home our Jessie continues to behave as normal. that is isolating on Jane's bed or in the front room, or her favourite place by her Daddy on the sofa!
Her favourite person!

Tuesday 14 April 2020

Same Old Same Old!

Another day at the fun  factory! Nothing much going on here except for a nice email from our relatives in Australia with a picture of their newly acquired doggie Amigo. Lovely to hear they are all right
Vin is only going out for his daily walk around the block and to see what is going on which isn't much actually. he gets the papers early on and and gaets any news from the shop which isn't much at the moment. He is only going out for the weekly things on Wednesday usually, instead of going out twice at the weekend, so that is better.
The only people seen going through the vilage is a load of cyclists travelling at quite a spped along to the cycle path. Think they should close that to prevent them surely they should not be doing this?
Jane worked eight to eight day on Sunday which was Easter Sunday of course, off yesterday, not sure what she is doing today.  Two of her friends/colleagues have the virus, hope they get over it ok.
Jessie is still self isolating in Jane's bedroom which she has really taken to, asleep at the end of her bed and making a right little nest for herself. Normally she comes down in the afternoon to be with her Daddy.  Not going out of course and Vin is not letting the cats in from next door either so keeping her safe!
Out for the count!!

Friday 10 April 2020

Lockdown!

Still all the country under lockdown with little movement in our village anyway. just some cuclists out for an Easter ride i suppose, and Vin say three girls out on their bikes yesterday riding around which is a bit irresponsible unless they are from the same family, but they didn't look like  it. You do wonder what their parents are thinking!
Good  Fridaytoday but no church services going on because of the lockdown of course. I used to hate Good Friday as a child growng up in a Catholic family, it was all doom and gloom and stations of the Cross and long services. No Maundy Thursday ceremony from the Queen this year either, the maundy Thursday money has apparently been sent out by post this year. Bet she is secretly glad about that!
Boris is out of ICU and is back on a ward but being closely monitored we are told. At least that is an improvement. Vin was out last night clapping for the carers and support workers, and he said pretty much the whole street was out. Our jane wouldn't be since she was on her last of four very demanding night shifts. very proud of you our Jane ! Hope you enjoyed your Easter Egg.
Jessie is back on her lovely red blanket at the moment, sleeping her isolation away. Without a care in the world!
I love these pictures of her, she looks great against the red.

Wednesday 8 April 2020

Tesco!

Vin has braved Tesco's this morning to go and get the weekly shop. He didn't go on Saturday as he aways did because he thought it would be too busy or Sainsbury's either on Sunday.  Terrible situation still, with the numbers rising and not much sign of levelling off yet.
He did the ironing yesterday and says thething is to doone bigthing each day. Good for him!
Jessie is self isolating in the house, there was a vet on this morning sayingtokeep your pets indoors because they could bring something in on their fur, but since our jessie doesn't go out anyway that is quite safe advice for her.
Beautiful sunny day too today, at the moment  the weather is warming up quite a lot, and the sun is blazing through the window as I type this. Shame Jessie can't get outin it.
Reclining in self isolation!

Monday 6 April 2020

Sloooow!

Internet very slow at the moment, I suppose the whole world is on the broadband at present with the lockdown.
We had a broadcast from the Queen yesterday which was really nicely done, Bless her. Apparently there were 24 million people watching that, so I guess it got across.
The virus is still hitting quite hard with death toll all over the world really horrific. Most countries are in lockdown except it seems for Sweden which is a law unto itself, they are doing what they want. Whether it is wise or not I don'tknow. The prime Minister is in hospital with the virus admitted last evening, but still said to be running the country from there. Said to be precautionary measure, because his temperature won't go down. Wish him well.
It is indeed a remarkable time for the country..
Jessie was in jane's room this morning but jumped off soon as I came in here, off to see her daddy I suppose.
Who is that disturbing my sleep!

Friday 3 April 2020

Podiatry!

Tootsie day today, so we were up earlyish. Last week he surprised us by coming early so we were ready this week. He arrived a little bit later but were ready anyso all good. Toes looking quite good all padded up now, and done for another week.
Everybody out in the road last night clapping for the essential workers, supermarket workers cleaners porters etc., all those who never get mentioned other than nurses and doctors. For the whole NHS really!
Nice and sunny today, and  a bitwarmertoo. At least the rain has gone for nowwhich should dry out the fields ready for planting. Vin has just been out for his daiy exercise round the block. not met many people out as you would expect, he said he walked down to the river Alt , the tide was out and noone around.  Funny at the moment, due to the virus people really do seem to be keeping to the guidelines and isolating.
Jessie ran off upstairs when the podiatry man came which she does tend to do, she never likes people coming to the house. Yesterday she had a meeting with her "granny" from over the line. the one she stayed with when her owner had to move her because of her son's bad asthma and allergy to cats.  Granny was pleased to see her and took a photo on her phone to show her original owner. Aaah!
Running Off!

Thursday 2 April 2020

Virus Continues!

Its upwards march, the death toll is terrible 500plus overnight and still rising.  We are here at home and only going out for essentials at least Vin is, he goes to the local shop for things like bread and milk etc., and he did make a visit to Tesco yesterday. Mostly for things on his list like cat food, cat sprinkles, cat litter, and cream for her then our thingsfollow!  Guess who is the boss in our house!
We are all in "lockdown" in this country as is most of the rest of the world except it seems for Sweden. All big events have been canceled like The Grand National, Wimbledon everything actualy. The last big event on the television really was the races at Cheltenham and it seems quite a lot of people were infected there.
Vin said it was weird going to tesco yesterday because the roads were so quiet and the shop was too actually. No queues to get in or at the tills and people were definitely keeping away from each other. He did really well with the shopping and got everything we wanted and the shelves were well stocked. too.
Our Jessie is carrying on as normal! nothing affects her except for the doorbell going which isn't very often!
Bit out of focus this ne, Jessie keeping an ear out for the doorbell, she is a very good alarm cat really!
