Good Friday!

I used to hate Good Friday when I was young. It was a very churchy day with going to the stations of the cross and the kissing of the crucifix in the afternoon. it always had a sort of miserable feel to it, but at least there were the Easter eggs to look forward to.
Nowadays it is just another day really even  though it is a bank holiday. The shops are mostly open as usual but the dentist and the chemist closed so it is nice and quiet here.  They did a walk of witness round the village this morning finishing up at the catholic church for hot cross buns. No, we didn't go!
Yesterday  I had the last of the appointments for the week at Aintree at the podiatry clinic. That was quite straightforward  just a short wait and then in to get the foot dressed again. All seems to be clearing up  quite well, got some more appointments for a few weeks ahead and left for home.
Little Jessie didn't move all the time we were out, she has had spells of going out a little bit, and Vin is so proud of the fact that she came in by herself.  All of our cats have always come in on their own as they wanted but he is especially pleased that she does that on her own. That is when she is not sat on the step waiting to be let in!
In or out? Hmmm.  Not too far from daddy though!

Odd Day!

Weather wise! Started quite dull and not very bright, then tipping it down at lunchtime, then as I do this it is bright sunshine. It's no wonder the British people discuss the weather so much, you never know where you are.  It seems from the forecasts that we are due for the same over Easter too and possibly some colder towards the end of the week.
Vin went off  to Crosby this morning because he wanted to get some logs and coal to stock us up. He also got some things that he usually gets on Sunday but with the stores being closed on Easter  Sunday plus the road going out of the village is also going to be closed for roadworks which makes things difficult.
We are out tomorrow so we stayed in today for a break. At least I did, whilst he went out.  Little Jessie came up to wake him up this morning, and then went in her basket. She has been there most of the day since, but just before I came upstairs she went in front of the heater and sprawled herself  in front of the heater in the middle room. Vin has gone out to his car to get the logs so maybe she will follow him into the garden. She is very good at staying there though and is certainly not one who strays. Thankfully.
Having a conversation, very one sided though. She is never far from her Daddy though!

Another Little Outing!

The second of three outings this week, yesterday was to the optician today was to the GP over the road while it is there, this was for a medicine review , done yearly. Can't believe it was a year since the last one.  That was for 10.30 which is quite early for us but it is just over the road so no travelling.
Got there on time but didn't get in till half an hour later. No matter we weren't in a rush exactly.  The Dr had a letter from the hospital suggesting that I went on statins so after a bit of discussion put me on one. Yet another tablet to add to the list! All I seem to do thesedays is swallow tablets or do injections! Never mind it's poor Vin who has to dole them out!!.
Home for coffee later we didn't go for a coffee anywhere. It was too early really and the kids are all off so would probably be busy. Had a gorgeous skinny latte at home instead.  We are out on Thursday as well at the podiatry clinic in Aintree but that is an afternoon appointment, then we are done for the week.
Little Jessie didn't move from when we went out till when we got back. She isn't a cat who greets you at the door, like a lot of other cats we have had. The best one for that was our Lucy who would wait for ages for Vin when he came home from work. She always knew what time he was due and would sit in the hall and wait, Bless her. Rusty was great for that too she would always greet you at the door. Gorgeous little cat she was.
Raining this morning, and apparently we are in for some more cold weather  as we go towards the weekend. poor little daffodils in the front garden.
Keeping out of the way!

Peepers!

One appointment today, right in the middle of the day at twelve o'clock. Specsavers in Formby for an eye test, I last had one done about sixteen months ago but thought when they rang that it was longer. Anyway, when Vin found my prescription it was only sixteen months, but I went because I had made the appointment then. Got there on time as we always do and only waited a short while. Same bloke as last time, and he did all the usual tests but my eyes don't need a different prescription so I have stuck with the pairs that I have.
Home for coffee  mainly because it is the Easter holidays and there are lots of kids around, plus it was lunchtime so we decided to go home. Had lovely coffees at home with the radio and the cat!
There are signs of Spring all over now and lots of sunshine, but the weather forecast says it is going to get colder towards the weekend.  We shall wait and see.
Little Jessie went out this morning according to Vin she likes a bit of a mooch ion the garden, and he was very proud of the fact that she came in by herself!!!!
Gorgeous daffodils this year. Tete-a-tete variety again.
Tired out after her outing!!

Is Spring Springing!

Friday and another stop in day for us.  Mostly having a bit odf a breather from appointments, and a few coming up next week so just enjoying going nowhere. Doesn't matter really  it's nice to enjoy  being in. I'm sure little Jessie likes being in with her daddy!
Hope our Jane had a good night last night, she is on four nights in a row, don't know how she manages that.
Quite dull today, no sunshine around either. I see next door have a lot  of steam coming out of their boiler which generally means it is cold. We still have heaters on all the time. Mind you I feel the cold, always have so it has to be very warm for me not to have warmth somewhere.
Vin has been out with his camera today, and taken some snaps of the garden and his bulbs. Nice show this year particularly the barrel; which looks great in our little front garden.

Vin has uploaded some more photos from the camera, but for the life of me i can't find them. Really tried, so here is one of last year's barrel. Baby moon they were and not a patch on this year which look gorgeous.
Look at me Daddy XXX

Another one in Today!

Just a very ordinary day today, mundane really. The weather is tolerable  but not as sunny looking as yesterday. I read somewhere there is due another storm due over Easter, we have had a few of those this year.  We have been lucky here though touch wood.
This Easter seems to have come round very quickly this year, although it is at the beginning of April i suppose.  My mum's. birthday was April 4th, and that was always around Good Friday or Easter time, so usually go by that. We don't generally do very much for Easter, never did really except when I was young we used to have a Chicken which was a treat . How the times have changed now chicken is commonplace. Not that we eat it because we are Veggies  have been for a lot of years now.
Little Jessie is getting up earlier all the time as the days get lighter, she wakes up.  Then she comes up to trample all over the bed and ends up on Vins front till he moves and goes down to feed her.
About to fall out of her basket. She did this twice yesterday, much to Vins dismay. Of course he rushes to pick her up and see if she is ok. She is  to his relief, it's a soft carpet.

Pussy in Her Basket!

I woke up this morning to see in the dark a little lump on the top of Vin.  Just sitting there, and when she gets tired of that he says she has started to put a long claw out to touch his cheek. This usually has the desired effect, as it would and wakes him up, so the next step is to go down to feed her. Normally she goes into her basket and Vin comes back to bed because it is very very early. Well for us anyway.
Yesterday I didn't have time to do this because I had my appointment at Aintree at 2.00. By the time we got back from there and had our lunch it was too late to come upstairs so I didn't bother. It was quite a straightforward appointment, except that when we got there it was busy so we were kept waiting quite a while which made us later going in.   The next one on Thursday.
Quite nice today, at least the snow appears to have gone, round here anyway.  Little Jessie has been out a little today, she is not the one to go out much without her daddy though.  Yesterday she was out when we were having our lunch mid afternoon, and he jumped up to let her in again because she sits on the step waiting for him!  Talk about wrap round your little claw!!
Today at lunchtime he came in with our trays, and she was asleep in her basket. We both said it looks like she is going to fall out of her basket. Lo and behold a few minutes later, she does, basket on the floor and she sits there looking bewildered.  Funny it was. Vin jumped up. "Are you alright darling?" His little Princess on the floor! What a shame.
Cling on there Jessie!

Monday 19 March 2018

Monday Monday!

Just another manic Monday! Not! in our house nothing ever happens on a Monday really. It is quiet which is the way we like it. It has dawned nice and sunny but cold, and last night when Vin went to post his letters he said it was freezing so expected to see frost this morning. Didn't happen and it is really bright.
We are out tomorrow at the podiatry clinic so stayed in today. Vin goes out on a Saturday and a Sunday to the shops Tesco and Sainsbury , got our usual weekly shopping so stocked up for now anyway.
Little Jessie up early this morning as usual, wakes her daddy up until he goes down to feed her, then he comes back to bed until it is a decent time to get up. It's a good job he loves her!  She loves her food does our Jessie!
All fed and watered and ready for a nice peaceful sleepie in her basket.

A Good Job!

It was a good job we were in today. On Wednesday I ordered a box of Borders biscuits from Amazon. Originally  I was going to get a DVD of Little Women  for Ann for her birthday in May, and was looking for something to make up the money so you get the free delivery. However, when I clicked on these they were free delivery anyway,  so I bought them. They arrived today via the postman, that was super quick. We weren't expecting them that quickly.  Lovely biscuits 48 in the box  four different flavours.  Yum!
Vin has done the bedding today, and the surgery rang to make an appointment for a review and a check up on something.  So it was as well we stopped in really.
Nothing much happening online by the looks of it, everything seems to be steady at the moment. At least on the sites I visit anyway.
Little Jessie seems to be in a bitey mood today and last night too. She was on the bed on top of Vin last night and he went to tickle her as he often does but this time she didn't like it and went to bite him. Not a good idea that Jessie.  He said give her a tickle..erm NO thank you, I'm not soft.
All nice and quiet and peaceful, looking like she does nothing wrong. Go on tickle her tummy !!!

Yesterday and Today!

Did not have time to do a blog yesterday because by the time we got back from Aintree it was time to get changed and go down for our coffee.
The podiatry clinic was a bit longer than expected . We took the slippers and shoes to have them inspected for rubbing etc., and Ashley took them off for re-doing, something with the insoles I think. The lovely lady who was doing my feet was a little concerned with the right one which has a little ulcer on the top of the toe was still looking a bit red  so she wanted the Dr to give me some antibiotics again to clear it up. Uuugh! Two at a time and big things they are too.  So it was actually quite late when we got home, the traffic was bad as it was getting on for rush hour, which seems to be longer these days. With a clever bit of driving Vin managed to keep us moving even though it was a longer way round. Clever boy.
Our Jane just rang up before I came upstairs to do this. She was in her kitchen making a batch of curries. She cooks up a big pot full and divides them up into about six portions in pots she got from the pound shop. Some she keerps for now and the rest goes in the freezer for next week when she is on nights. Clever girl. She sent us a picture of what she had made on her phone then did a video link so we coukld see what she was up to. Aaah! The wonders of technology.
In today therefore,  and a nice normal day. Little Jessie doing normal things, mostly in her basket.
Vin sent a lovely picture of her to Jane via the phone. One thing about her, she is very photogenic.

Me with my lovely long thick hair! NOT!
Let's have a pose then !

Tuesday 13 March 2018

Sunny and Out!

Lovely and bright when we woke up this morning and we got going quite quickly so we decided to go off to Dobbies.  Very bright sunshine for a change  the temperatures have gone up a fair bit so it is a treat to get out.
We had a look round first to see whether there was anything different. In a word No! but at least they had the things we wanted, everything Christmas had gone long since, but all seems to be everything gardening. You can't move for tables chairs and sets of the same. Chimneas, barbecues and other gadgets for the few times when it isn't raining or freezing cold!
We then went for our free coffees. To be honest we missed the ones in February because of the weather mainly or hospital appointments and I think that annoyed Vin because he likes getting those. Well we have had this months anyway!
I had a very nice flat white and he had an Americano  and shared a pack of biscuits they sell there now.  Actually that reminded me to order some Borders biscuits from Amazon, which I did when we got home. £10.47 for 48 individual packs and free P&P. Not bad really.
Coffees were lovely, then we went for our shopping.  Two boxes of shortbreads, one of twirly biscuits with a long sell by date, two cherry cakes and a lovely little notebook which I fancied but Vin has put away for Ann for her birthday in May.  Then home for our lunch yogit and cripps for me and a sourdough sandwich for Vin.
Little Jessie  has been in her basket by the looks of it. All the time we were out probably.

Monday 12 March 2018

Beautiful Day!

Not!! It is a very wet day today. Not exactly pouring down but it has been drizzly all day and quite cold. Very grey outside. We haven't been out today which is our normal for us we don't tend to go out on a Monday, but maybe tomorrow to Dobbies unless it snows really hard again!!
Quite a sad day for comedy today with the death of Sir Ken Dodd. He died in the house he was born in and married his long term partner two days ago too. No doubt there will be a lot on the local news tonight because being a local lad he was very popular here. They regularly gave updates about him and showed him coming out of hospital the other week after being in for quite a while with a chest infection.  R.I.P. Sir Ken.
The doorbell went at lunchtime, it was our next door neighbour giving Vin a nice bottle of wine for helping them fasten their bikes to their car on Saturday morning. He was pleased with that I think.
Needless to say our Jessie hasn't been out today because of the weather. She doesn't like getting wet. Who does?
HaHa ! Not Jessie. It's my little cat called Smudge. Doesn't need feeding, or use cat litter and doesn't cost any money. Perfect!
The other one the one who does cost money for food and cat litter and biscuits! I don't mind though. She is a cute cat, even though she is his princess!

Foot and Mouth!

Strange day today. We were woken up this morning to the doorbell going. It was our next door neighbour, who was setting off for the Lake District with her daughter and grandson . They were trying to put bikes on the back of their car, and were a bit stuck, so asked Vin if he could help.  He answered the door in his pyjamas and a coat!!! so the first thing he did was to come up and get dressed, then he went out to see what he could do. He did fix the problem and off they went.
I had an appointment at 1.00 at the podiatry clinic to have the toe redressed.  We got there on time because there was no traffic except for ordinary stuff. Waited a little while and Vin went off to park the car. He came back quite quickly because he spotted a man just leaving his car so got a space on the ground floor. The other day he parked right on the top floor, there was nothing to be seen anywhere.
The toe that was quite red the other day was looking a lot better, and the lovely  girl was really pleased with it. Due back next Wednesday with my shoes and slippers to see what the next step is (forgive the pun!)
For the last few days I have been a bit concerned about the bridge in the front of my teeth, and thought it was getting very wobbly this morning. Didn't want to make an appointment because I didn't know how long we were going to be in Aintree. As it happens we were home by about 2.30 ish so I said to Vin would it be worth nipping in to the dentist to see if they could fit me in. As it happened  she slotted me in right then which was really good of them. So he glued it in again, and it didn't take much to dislodge it either so it wouldn't have lasted the weekend. Great job!
Little Jessie was wandering around just as we were leaving this morning, so Vin said "do you want feeding?" Daft question. Of course she wants feeding. So he goes in the kitchen to feed her then she  goes in her basket and there she remains until we came home.
The Good Neighbour! Bless him.
My puss! The only one who will come on my knee!
The other one.The pretty one!

Thursday 8 March 2018

Snow Again!

Who would have thought it. Snow again this morning, and according to Vin it was quite thick too, with traffic hold ups on the by-pass, and schools shut down! Again!  They seem to shut schools down for anything these days. Anyway it has all gone now, and it looks more like rain than anything.  Vin tried to push jessie out in the garden this morning but she wasn't having any of it, and walked away from the cat flap.
Just before I came upstairs to do this he said to  the room "Are you warm enough darling?  I said "yes thanks"  He said " I didn't mean you, I meant the cat!" Huh well that's me told then! Just as long as his little princess is warm then!
Nice soup for lunch today, nothing like a bit of snowy weather to make soup look inviting. We had carrot and coriander, the Heinz one which is lovely and we think much better than the Baxter's one.  Four croutons and a piece of toast, yummy.

Out today darling ? No I don't think so either.

Wednesday 7 March 2018

Podiatry Again!

Yep podiatry clinic again, today the appointment was for 11.0 . We got there early despite sitting outside the dept., to listen to the end of the Popmaster quiz on radio two. We were in the waiting area at about a quarter to eleven and sat for an age today. Funny actually because there were a fair number of people waiting who were mostly on phones engrossed in what they were doing. Not much conversation going on these days.
Got in eventually at about a quarter to twelve but qu
ite often I don't wait much at all, so it is all swings and roundabouts as they say. The girl spent ages putting padding on my left foot, and a bit of padding on the other one, warning not to wear the slippers for a bit,  and we then went with another extra appt for friday.
By the time we left there it was far too late to go for a morning coffee which was a shame because poor Vin was looking forward to that, as was I too. Never mind we came home and had one from the machine instead.
Little Jessie was in her basket when we got home, the lazy little minx doesn't even get up to greet us at the door.  She has never really been a cat for doing that, the best ones we had for greeting us were Lucy and Rusty. Lucy was a beautiful cat, she used to wait for Vin when he came home from work, and the minute the gate went she would jump down and go to the front door. Really loyal that one.
Snooty expressions there!

Touch of Spring in the air today the barrel by the front door looks really nice with the little miniature daffodils in there.  All the snow has gone just some wet muddy looking fields around, and some terrible pot-hol;es in the roads.

Tuesday 6 March 2018

In Today Out Tomorrow!

Not out today mainly because we are out tomorrow. i have an appointment at Aintree at 11.00 in the morning so it will be a get to bed early for us tonight.  Normal day for us today therefore, doing what we do most days.
Very drizzly today, at least it was this morning but it has cleared up now and is just dull and grey. At least that horrible wind has gone and the snow which we did not get much of at all.
Vin was trying to cut little Jessie's claws this morning, but she struggled like mad and would have clawed him to death I think if he had gone on. Just have to judge the right moment I think really, or wear a very very thick pair of gloves!
Rule number one. Do Not Scratch Daddy!

Note the claw stuck in the cover.  Naughty puss, why don't you let him do them?

Monday 5 March 2018

Rain!

After the snow the rain came! Not a lot of it though, just a drizzle, but it does warm the temperature up a bit. The "Beast from the East" seems to have gone, but there are pockets of snow in the country making roads impassable. One of the worst areas appears to be in Cumbria where the army has been called in to drop deliveries to a village which has been snowbound for five days.
Nothing doing here much today, we tend not to go out on a monday so stopped in. We had a delivery from Bullens today, came in a great big cardboard box but only contained my usual things. Also a thermos cool bag for cans. It is not actually what I was inquiring about, I really wanted a storage bag to replace the one in the bathroom which is looking scruffy now.  It's really hard to find exactly the right one. I want the same bag but maybe in a different colour. Something a bit brighter.
Little Jessie got her daddy up quite early this morning, then retired to her  comfy basket, where she has been most of the morning. She has just moved herself to chase her daddy for some food. He went out to post a letter, and she jumped down to sit by the middle room door. I say "he'll be back in a minute" and she goes miaow and sits there waiting. As soon as he comes back she miaows like mad and goes to urge him towards the kitchen.  Not soft that one!
Nearly empty daddy!

Friday 2 March 2018

Still Cold!

But it is getting better, the forecast is on for a bit warmer weather coming. However, there is supposed to be a !"Storm Emma" coming, but maybe it will pass us by.
We have stayed in today because we were out yesterday and it was really cold. Soup for lunch and very nice it was too. Carrot and Coriander, four croutons and a slice of olive and rosemary bread toasted. Very tasty.  Very quiet here even the cat is fast asleep in her basket. They do seem to spend a lot of their time sleeping, at least she does.  The liveliest cat we ever had was lovely little Rusty who was always up and around, usually meithering for food.  Her and Vin used to have a sort of game, he would put food down for her, and she would sniff it and run off, then he would chase her with a tea towel. Only in fun, she always came back!
No cream cake today Jessie. Sorry, it ran out yesterday. It is cherry cake today for us!

Thursday 1 March 2018

Out Today!

Brrr! It is freezing today. I do have to say that we are lucky here on the coast though. looking at the news today the rest of the country, particularly in the East are having it extremely badly, with very bad snow, traffic jams on a number of motorways, with some people stuck for hours unable to move.
I had an appointment in the Podiatry clinic at 3.30 and because Vin wanted to get there early we left early.  The traffic was quite light actually and we made excellent time. Got there quite a bit early and the foyer was busy so I thought  we would be waiting for ages. As it happened we weren't and after a little while I was called in.  Cathy undid both of the paddings and cleaned it up a bit, then the Dr came in to inspect. It was my really really nice little Dr Oui who I have seen loads of times before. Greeted me with "Back again"  I like him, he was the one who used to send me home when I was inside>  All good today and re dressed then  off on our journey back home again.
Back for around 4.20 and sat here doing the posting. Quite a wind getting up and it is a really cold bitter one too. The sky does actually look like it is going to snow but we shall have to wait and see.
Little Jessie hasn't been out today, she isn't soft that one. Staayed inside in her basket all curled up nice and warm.
She did get up to greet her Daddy when he came through the door though. Aaaah!
