Nice Warm Monday!

For a change it is a nice dday again. Lovely after all of the rain we have haqd lately. We haven't been out today, mainly because we are out tomorrow at podiatry, not an early appointment though it is an early afternoon one. At least we don't have to get up early, we don't like those.
Vin has been doing bits and pieces  this morning, there is clearing up to do after our breakfasts and the papers to get. Today's Express was soaking wet for some reason, must have been out in the rain when they were delivered. He tried drying it out under the bathroom heater but that just made it crispy!!
The papers are still full of Bad Boris and his argument with his girlfriend, but it seems that the Boris lovers are still behind him so goodeness knows what we will end up with. Did see a photo of Jeremy Corbyns very very large childhood home in the papers, in Shropshire, now he is saying he will tax people with large homes. What a hypocrite! Certainly won't ever vote for him.
Jessie hasn't been out today, despite the fact that it is nice and sunny. Shame really because there are some lovely sunny spots in the garden. Both our previous cats Bobby and Rusty and Tootsie  also loved going out, Bobby would spend hours by the edge of the fence, and Rusty wouldn't be far away.
In the garden with her daddy. Good News today little Jessie, cream cake today, soyou can have some creamon your plate.

Air Bag!

Today got up earlyish and got going because Vin had to go to Crosby to get his air bag done at his garage. It had been a recall from the Nissan company to replace them, however vin said it was the cannister that blows them up that had been showing a fault somewhere so that was replaced.
At the same time, after he had dropped off the car he took the quilt cover off our bed, the patchworky one which is too cumbersome to go in our washing machine to the laundrette along College Road. Left it in the machine and was told it would be about half an hour, so he had a walk up the road. Went to the Co-Op and got some veggies but nothing else apart fromsome reduced pancakes for his breakfast. By the time he had done all that it was time to collect the quilt, and then make his way back for the car. A little wait before it was done but collected on time Finished.
Home for coffee in plenty of time, early actually.
Can't say that  I have seen much of little Jessie, she never comes upstairs to the middle room if I am in here, not like our Rusty who used to come and walk all over the computer keyboard. Gorgeous she was. Maybe Jessie thought that we were both out so went in the front room and went to sleep as usual.  First I saw of her was at lunchtime when she deigned to come into the middle room. She did go outside for a little while but sat on the step waiting for Vin to let her in as she usually does. Of course he runs to do so. He's well trained!
A pleading look, can I come in now? No cream cake today Jessie, sorry it's all run out by Friday. Wait till Monday now eh!

Roll Out The Barrel!

Today is the day the barrel made it's appearance in our front garden. After two coats of varnish in between rain showers and some black paint round the iron rings it was ready. So Vin wheeled it round to the front in the wheelbarrow and put some of the soil into it to make it ready for the plants. He has already got a dwarf conifer for the  centre of it  and we got some nice mixed lobelia for round the edges from obbies the other day, so it is ready. Looks lovely too.
He has been a busy boy today because he also did the washing from the bedding today too, nice enough to put things out on the line today too, doesn't lok like there will be any rain at all so quite safe for a change. We have now had three days of decent weather, not too hot but very pleasant. Sun and blue skies.
Little Jessie was in the front room on the sofa most of the morning, only to appear at lunchtime when she needed feeding, and then later as we were eating ours to use her cat littwer!! Good timing Jessie! Not.
Keeping an eye on us! Making sure she is not forgotten at cream cake time! Last day for that, it runs out today, no more till maybe Monday!

Off Out!

Nice day today so we got up and went out to Dobbies for a look round and a bit of a stock up too. Lov ely and warm today, bright sunshine and blue skies for a change. Very warm in the car so Vin put his air conditioning on very welcome too.
Not a spot of breeze at Dobbies either which is unusual for there. We had a bit of a look round first to get an idea of what we wanted , that took a while so we went for our coffees then. Vin had  a medium latte and I had my usual flat white. Always like their flat white and it was a really hot one today too. Had a nice chat then went round the store for our things. Vin was looking for some bedding plants for round the barrel which he has nearly finished painting and we spotted some trays of mixed lobelias so we got those. Then it was round the food hall and got two cakes for keeping, two boxes of shortbreads that were on offer, a box of bendicks mint crisps  back to the main shop for some tealights, two boxes of plain ones reduced from 4.99 to 1.99 and a box of "flavoured " ones clean cotton from Yankee Candles  then off to pay. A good reduction with the Dobbies card which also gives you the free coffees each month and a reduction on what you buy. Bill should have been £34.05 but after those was £23. 25 so we did quite well.
When we got home Jessie was flopped down in the hall in front of the door. I went in our middle room for a while and she came and nuzzled my hand and let me stroke her head! Gosh that has only taked about two and a half years to get that. Aaah!
Vin thought she was a bit under the weather this morning but she seemed ok now.
Madam on the prowl, looking for her food and probably her daddy too.  Cream from our cream ckes later too!

Finally!!

There has been a bit of a break in the weather and a bit of sunshine has appeared in a blue ssky. After all of the rain we have had recently very welcome it is too.
At last Vin was able to give the new barrel its coat of varnish to go with the black paint he put on the metal rims ages ago now. He wasn't sure whether the varnish would be a quick drying one or not, but it appears that it might be, so this afternoon he ha gone out to give it a second coat.
We are planning to go to Dobbies tomorrow because we need a few things from there and also look for a few plants to go round the edge of the barrel too. He has got a new little conifer, a dwarf one for the middle like the last one we had, but that got a bit big in the end and has now been put in the back garden. Start again, all fresh and new. Should look good.  Might have a look at hanging baskets but not too sure about those, they are getting a bit dear there, we shall see.
Little Jessie spent most of the morning in the front room, suppose it is nice and quiet there but she did rouse hersself at lunchtime, enough to come in and start picking at the carpet!!  Wonder if she did that in her previous posh house down the road in the big house zone?
Jessie looking like little miss innocent! but, there is devilment in those claws.  Watch out you might not get any cream from the cream cake!
I might add at this point that the cake we have is just a small portion and lasts us for four days.(and the cat as wello)

An Eventful Day!

It was indeed an eventful day! firstly my bridge in my front teeth fell out on Friday of all days, so Vin called in at6 the dentist on his way to get the papers spoke to our usual one and he said the girls weren't in yet to do the appointments so he went back a few minutes later, they had one for 10.30, but that raised a problem because my appointment at Aintree podiatry was for 11.o'clock!  So he rang them up and  they didn't have anything for today but one for tomorrow at eleven o'clock. However when I went into the dentists I wasn't as long as I thought I would be so when we came out Vinsaid it was a shame because we could have got there. I suggested that wee ring them back and see if it would matter if we got there but a few minutes late.  That was ok so we just turned round and off we went, arriving at about a quarter past eleven./ Great, that saved us going tomorrow. Feet dressed and home again at around oneish, had a lovely cup of coffee each and a listen to the pop master quiz on radio two. We never miss that but don't answer many questions on that one.
Poor Jane has also had a health service4 day too0 because she had an eye appointment to see what stage she is at. Culmination of that is that it looks like they are going to have to resort to surgery6 to correct her problem. She is due for another appointment in about six weeks, it's all a shame because she can't use her car because she can't drive, so her poor little red car is outside not able to be used yet.
Vin was speaking to our neighbour this morning, her little kittens now have new names. Previously they were called Teddy and Maisie, but she is now calling them Jack and Millie. Personally I liked the first names but it is her choice.
We had no problem with our Jessie she was called Jess when we got her and she is the typical Postman Pat cat, black and white. She was still in her basket when we got back from our travels. She is no trouble at all really our little cat.
Cream cake for tea today Jessie, if you are a good girl!

Friday 14 June 2019

Phew!

Got a letter this morning with an appointment for Mr Butcher at Aintree. Only trouble is that it is for 8.30 in the morning, so we will have to get up and get going early that morning. Not what we are used to these days but never mind, don't want to put it off really.
We were in today, so Vin decided to drill a hole in the bottom of the new barrel, which he hasn't been able to do because of the rainy weather. He came up a bit later with the shavings that were produced in a tub, and boy could you smell the whisky! No doubt at all that it is a proper whisky barrel Vin said it had drawn an ant or two I bet they went back to their nest drunk!! He is now waiting for it to dry out properly after al of the rain we have had, so he can varnish it.
Vin got a card t6his morning which he put on the edge of my sofa so I thought it waas for me for some reason, I started to open it and he said that's for me!, When he finished opening it he found it was a Father's day card for him with a lovely photo  of him and Jessie, the one where she is in her basket just sstaring at him adoringly and he is talking to her, (as he does!) Well done Jane a nice thought and a good pick of photos too.
Talking of Jessie, she has been the morning in her basket where she is most comfortable, just raising her head occasionally to miaow at her Daddy!
No cream cake today darling! Sorry!  No creme Fraiche either, that has run out. Wait till Monday now. Be patient!

Thursday 13 June 2019

Wet and Drizzly!

There's a surprise, seems to be the weather for June this year. Vin wasreading on his tablet that Manchester Airport was gridlocked yesterdaay. An accident on one of the approach roads and removal of flood watwer on another, so every accfess road was gridlocked. Roundabouts blocked and cars couldn't get out of the short stay car park because nowhere to go. What a mess!
Read on FB that  both Janet and Tony have both got the moon boots on because they both have fractured legs. What are the chances of that! From their photo it looked like aq matching pair too, that will keep them out of action for a bit.
Mainly because of the weather neither of us were really fired up for going out so stopped in. To be honest the coffee that Vin makes on our machine is gorgeous anyway so no point spending loads on coffees out, and we can go to Dobbies next week if we have a reasonable appointment on Monday. Fingers crossed. I was a bit mi9ffed with Vin this morning because when he woke me up with his usual kiss he said "you look like a prune"! Charming! Then he tried to get out of it by saying "only kidding" damage done by then.
Little Jessie hasn't been out today like us she prefers to stop in out of the rain. She did raise her head this morning when the doorbell rang with an Amazon packet for our next door neighbour. She still is unsettled when she hears the doorbell, wonder why, don't suppose we shall ever know.
Ding Dong..Who's that ? my cream cake arriving? Perhaps not. It's the last of it today (sad face) Never mind more on Monday maybe if I'm a good girl.

Wednesday 12 June 2019

Lovely And Quiet!

Nice and quiet today, to be honest still recovering from Monday, I hope there aren't any more like that one.  We haf thought about going out to Dobbies but looking at the weather we decided to stop in instead. Vin did a load of ironing, all his shirts and trousers that he'd washed yesterday. He was looking at the information about our tumble drier today on his tablet, because the Government have ordered the manufacturer to recall them for a fault to be rectified.  He did find some information which said that you could have a new machine for £60 extra  That would suit us because we have had this one for four years, have never left it alone while it is drying so it has always been safe here, but you never know.
Looked at our emails this morning to find that we had three from our Jane, the first "Is there something wrong with your landline?" Two said Fix your phone, Three said FIX YOUR PHONE. Vin staarted looking at our messages and there was nothing on there but accidentaly he must have rung her number and she answered to ask if we were all right. It must have been a blip on the phone somewhere because we had the phone by us all evening in case she rang. Anyway whatever it was is all right now and there is nothing wrong with the phone at all. She will ring when she is off the bus tonight she said.
Very cold today, glad we didn't go out actually because Dobbies is in a very windy spot at the best of times. Also wuite wet too, as Vin found out when he went down the garden to get the bin in, there is a hole in his shoe so out they go, and  he will have to find another pair from his stock.
Litle Jessie of course hasn't been out today, not in the rain anyway, but she did go out at lunchtime in a bit of better weather. Then sat on the doorstep waiting for her Daddy to let her in. He jumps up to go and open the back door for her!
Now in her basket giving me the "evil eye". Waiting for her cream from the cream cake. She looks lovely when she is asleep actually.

A Quieter Day!!

After yesterday any day would be a quieter one! We were both knackered last night and our bed was very welcome at last. All that waiting round was actually very tiring and poor Vin had to do all the toing and froing with the parking which was a real pain. He did his usual stirling job of course of which I am very grateful.  Kept saying sorry to him all the time which annoys him but what else can you do?
He missed his coffee out yesterday but we had a very nice one this morning, boiling hot and really tasty. Little shortbreads from Sainsbury's too, they  are the same as the Costa ones but very much cheaper, and I think nicer too.  Raining quite badly today and reports f baad rain down south, as long as it stays there that's ok.
Little Jessie hasn't been out today which isn't surprising because she doesn't like getting wet, and who can blame her for that.
Reading the papers with her daddy and snug as a bug n a rug in her basket. Nice life if you can get it.  Cream from the cream cake later too, especially served by Daddy!!

Monday 10 June 2019

Brst Laid Plans!!

Appointment this morning at Aintree for eleven o'clock. We hit a bit of a snag on the way because Vin just heard on the traffic news that Switch Island was closed due to an accident.  So he decided to go the other was round, still in a couple of queues but we did get there five minutes early. Didn't make much difference in the end because we sat  and waited and waited some more and were eventually called in at around a quarter to twelve. Then the girl who was doing my feet decided that she needed a registrar to prescribe some more antib's because the MRI scan had shown that the infection in theleft foot was quite deep.  So we had to wait a bit longer it was  ages actually and poor Vin had to go and movethe car three times in all that time.!
Eventually the Dr came after a long period of waiting and prescribed a different antib. One tablet to be taken morning and evening this time. Vin took the script to the pharmacy which was of course very busy indeed and  was told that it would be an hour!!We were  finiswhed in podiatry so what to do? it was by then a quarter to one so we decided to go to the co-op and get something forlunch. Vin went off on a forage , came back with a yogurt for me and a pack of cheese and onion sandwiches for him, and bottle of water to share and a multi bag of crisps. We had a nice little picnic lunch in their car park! Then back to Aintree pharmacy to pick up the script which was read. Finally we could go home, at a quarter to three!! What a morning!!Sorry Vin!
When we got homelittle Jessie was in the hall by the front door waiting for us, or rather for her daddy to feed her. She woke him up this morning sitting at the bottom of the bed miaowing. Better than  an alarm clock!
Waiting patiently. Don't worry there is cream from the cream cake for tea!

Roll Ou The Barrel!

Well the barrel arrived first thing this morning. Vin had done the tracking and according to that it was still in Welshpool so that wasn't working. Never mind though it was here nice and early. I was woken up today with Vin saying in my ear "Wild Turkey" !  Confused me because I didn't know what he ws talking about, then he said what does it come in? of course I said bottles, and he said no..bigger and then the penny dropped that it was the barrel. It was shrink wrapped in plastic but he said the fumes of whisky were still there. No doubt about the fact that it was a proper whisky barrel. Very good firm, easy to deal with and it came when it was supposed to. Vin is very pleased with it. He was out this morning painting the bands with black paint, and will get some varnish tomorrow from Homebase.
I got a delivery today too from QVC of a lovely pair of earrings and the doorbell went a short while ago and it was a delivery from Amazon for our next door neighbour, so it has been a day of delivery men today, no wonder the high streets are struggling .Hard to compete with the Internet.
Jane rang up at lunchtime she was on her break, and said it was raining there. It wasn't here but when she had finished chatting to us it was, she must have sent it over to us!
Jessie hasn't been out this morning and she won't go out if it is raining, so she is at home today. No cream cake today either, it is all gone by Thursday.  She will have to wait till Mondaynow.
Waiting by the window for her Daddy. She always keeps an eye out for where he is and is only happy when he is there by her side!

Thursday 6 June 2019

D-Day!

75th Anniversary of the D-Day invasion today and a lot of ceremonies going on around this country and abroad of course. Very moving to see the old soldiers/survivors and hear their stories. So young they were, in their teens and not knowing what they were going to face, mostly in their nineties now and amazing to hear their tales, told so clearly too.
Vin spent the morning doing the barrel in the front garden. The new replacement one that we have ordered should be arriving soon so he wanted to clear out the other one first which he did.  There were three bags of soil left and he reckons he should be able to reuse those by mixing them with some new top soil he will buy sometime. He found a pot of black paint for painting the bands round the edge and has some varnish in the shed so is set for when it arrives.
Strange weather today, this morning was dry, fairly bright and then as the morning went on it went overcast and we had a bad rainstorm at lunchtime with thunder also, at the time of doing this late afternoon the sun is shining brightly and the blind is down. Weatherwise, what an odd country we live in.
Jessie was out at lunchtime just before the rains came down but wasn't out for long and soon sat outside waiting for her daddy to let her in. Quite why she won't come in through the cat flap I haven't a clue!
You do wonder just what is going through their minds, she must know herdaddy will run to let her in. Still some cream from the cake left Jessie so worth it.

Eyes Wide Open!

This is probably going to be short and sweet because it is q2uite difficult to see what I am  typing. Went for an eye screening at Litherland town hall this afternoon and it takes a whiloe for the drops to wear off.  They put them in to dilate the pupilsd so you look like you are on drugs!
Very overcast and rainy today although it isn't raining at the moment, actually when you come out of the screening it is better to be overcast because you just cannot see anything in sunshine. We made good time getting home again because the schools had finished and mostly gone so the traffic wasn't too bad.
D-Day 75th anniversary remwembrance services all over today, with a big one in Portsmouth attended by the Queen and Donald Trump and a variety of other state leaders. Very well donwe as you would expect from this country. When they have ceremonies they are done extremely well.
Jessie hadn't moved from when we went out she was in her basket when we went and was still there when we got back!
She was on the bed last night gazing at her daddy, but waiting for her cream cake now!

Tuesday 4 June 2019

In Today!

In today because we were out yesterday and are out tomorrow afternoon so a breather day today. It's a good job because it is aq horrible day weatherwise. Very wet here this afternoon. Would be quite good if it is like this tomorrow because it is the one where eye drops are put in which are terrible in bright sunshine because you cannot see anything.  The good thing is that it is in Litherland town hall  so is quick to get to.
Vin ordered a new barrel from a company in Shropshire which sells a lot of different types of whisky ones.  It should be the same as the one we have there already which is falling to bits. He is in the process of clearing it out but can't do anything today with it being so wet.  Quick delivery on it too and comes by courier which is good.  Seems to be a very good firm.
Jessie hasn't been out today yet, don't think she likes the drizzle, who does, she came up last night to see her daddy and climb up his front. She stays for a while and sometimes lets me stroke her which she did last night although she usually looks a bit wary, not totally comfortable with that. Definitely a daddy's girl. She stays for a while then all of a sudden jumps down when she has had enough. Funny little catty.
She crawls up his front and lies there gazing at him. Adoringly. Reward! A nice bit of cream from the cake later!

Monday 3 June 2019

Podiatry Again!

Up early again this morning and off to podiatry i9n Aintree at eleven o'clock. We got there quite early because the traffic was light, and had a good  journey so we made good time. Waited a short while and then went in to see Rachel. Haven't seen her for a long time but she remembered me from when I had the melanoma on the toe way back quite a long time ago.  She spent an age looking at my notes and the computer but eventually got round to doing the feet. They seem to be doing fine but keep up with the antib's. Grrr.
Because it was getting on for twelve we decided to go to the retail park for a Costa, and it was qquite quiet there too. We went to our usual seats and I had a very nice flat white and for a change so did Vin today too. He normally has a latte with a flavour , I think he likes a larger drink but the flat whites only seem to come in one size. We sat and enjoyed those and chatting then it was time to go home.  Always a nice ittle outing that one. Same again next week maybe?
Sunny day today but quite breezy, it was really breezy outside Costa, for some reason it is always a windy corner, but nice inside in the sunshine.  Jessie was in the front room when we came home, don;t think she had moved at all, but she did get up a bit later to follow her daddy around, probably looking for some biscuits or some such!
Cream cake again today Jessie, your Lord and Master managed to get one yesterday.
