Oooops!

Ooops indeed! A bit of a misunderstnding yesterday which I couldn't do a blog about because it wouldn't let me on the site. A number of sites actually until very much laater in the morning when it was time to go down for our coffees.
We were up early in preparation for the podiatrist, but we waited and waited and Vin tried ringing the centre but it was engaged. Eventually after hours of waiting he got through to discover we were on the list for Monday. We both seemed to remember a bit of a conversation about changing it to Mondays but it didn't register properly which week it was. Anyway it is for next Monday so it is all on again then.
Very warm yesterday as it is today, and apparently the beaches are all full again, in this country again anyhow. Scotland and Wales still keeping quite strict rules but people here appear to have made their own minds up and are mixing again. Still the government daily briefings telling us to atay alert, stay home and social distance. Jane quite often goes to her local park which sounds quite a big ne and walks some laps round it, normally chatting to us as she goes for her daily "toddle". Lovely to hear her news.  Vin just saw about thirteen cyclists going through the village on their way to the cycle path, so not sure how it applies to them.
Jessie has been very good about social distancing, staying n jane's bed out of the way, but just noticed her on the carpet down on the floor, fast asleep and looking very comfy. Not something she usually does at all.
One peaceful cat!

Shopping Day!

Vin has taken himself off to Tesco this morning to get the weekly shopping, what he gets just about lasts the week and runs out by around Tuesday so it's just about right.  He says he doesn't browse any more but gets what is necessary, sign of the times i suppose.
What he got from Home and Bargain in Crosby yesterday was great, everything we needed stocking up on. The loo rolls that were disappearing fast when the Lockdown began were back in evidence, in fact he said you were nearly falling over the piles of them! Oh how times have changed!
Got my refund from the Premium Bonds this morning, will now have to try again and get the name right this time.
Jessie was trying to trip her daddy up again this morning lying on the bottom of the stairs so he couldn't see her or so she thought! Now she is on the bed Jane's one making a little hollow for herself up by the pillows where it is nice and comfy.
Anybody going to feed me!

Still Rolling On!

Although the numbers are dropping with regard to deaths from the virus it is still causing trouble. yesterday of course was the late May bank Holiday and it seemed from the news reports that the world and his wife were out at the beaches all over the country. Not a lot of signs of social distancing either.
Yesterday, after it had emerged that a senior advisor to the prime Minister disobeyed the lockdown rule and drove 250 miles from london to Durham to his parents home because he was worried about him and his wife becoming unable to look after their four year old son, thus he had no child care.  people saw this as a definite flouting of the rules. Therewas a confrontation between him and the press in the garden of 10 Downing Street, and he was slated. Understandably really, he totally disobeyed the rules which he was instrumental in setting down. Surprised the P.M. has backed him and all through the interview yesterday he was given the opportunityto say sorry or offer an apology, but not once. That is what people are most angry aout really, that they have given up a lot during these times, yet he gets away with it. Not well managed at all.
Jessie of course isn't bothered, she still lives her life as normal,  she really seems to have taken to Jane's bed,and there are little hollows all over the top of it now, where she has gone to sleep. She is even stil in here while I am and the radio on too! Improvement!
Vin had gone off to Crosby to the Home and Bargains to get some stuff we have run out of, he hasn't been there for weeks now due to the lockdown, so he is braving it this morning.Hope there aren't queues.
Seen at the bottom of the stairs this morning, Vin said she was waiting to catch him when he went down to get the coffee.! naughty gurl!

Tootsie Day!

Today it is up earlyish for the podiatry appointment. It was a lady called Selena who was really friendly and bubbly. She rang up before she came to the house because she had come out of the local road and didn't know which way to go from there. i gave her instructions, and she was herein a few minutes.  Did the padding of the feet, and put the padding on the outside so the feet could be moisturised which makes a change.
Vin went off to Formby to get a car wash because the car is covered in the sticky stuff from the horrible sycamore trees outside our house. they are a pain in the neck drop bits all year except for the winter when they are bare. Anyway the car wash at Tesco is still broken, and the other garage which has a jet wash is totally closed so that was no good either. he rang up from the garden centre up the road to say he had got some bedding plants for the barrel at the front, begonias they are so they should add a nice bit of colour.
Very blowy today, not rainy yet althugh it is forecast for sometime today i think.
Jessie was on the bed but when the podiatrist arrived she must have jumped off and hidden under Jane's bed because she isn't around at the moment. No doubt she will come out when she wants to!
Yoo Hoo! You can come out now!

Still Lockdown!

Well it is supposed to be, but judging by the pictures  in the papers this morning the world and his wife were out yesterday on the beaches, parks etc.,  Bank Holidayon Monday too, sogoodnessknows how many will be out. Apparently there was a five mile queue in Formby yesterday! people trying to get to the beach and the sand dunes. Traffic log jams, wou do wonder if it is worth it.
Jane rang up yesterday on her "Boris Walk" she has a nice park not far from where she live so she goes round the park about three times. good for her. Maybe she will take up marathon running next!!
Vin was out in the garden in the afternoon with little jack from next door playing. he is a reallylively little cat with a real character. Vin was watering some of the plants because it has been very dry actually, not much rain this month at all, and Jack was dodging the hose pipe. he didcome into the house at one point, not near jessie shewould run amile! and had a run round the middleroom, and a play, then he went off.

I am waiting and hiding! If he is around I'm off!

Blooming!

Vin's trip to the garden centre yesterday proved quite fruitful, he came back with some nice colourful bedding plants and a jar of marmalade that he had run out of.
At the moment he is doing the basket over the front door, and possibly the barrel. Also in the back garden with some plant pots. Just noticed little Jack from next door flying past him, I think!! He is so speedy can't be sure. Jessie won't go out there if he is around, she is so timid she stops inside. We never see Jack's sister Millie though think she is timid too, stays in with our neighbour.
Jane is on two eight eight days at the moment, she cycled to work yesterday and wasn't sure whether she was going to today, we shall have to wait and see. She tends to ring up at lunchtime, and also when she is on her wy home.   Seems that Man United have started their free food supplies to the hospital again and she was having a three bean chilli last night for her tea. What a good thing for them to do.
Who's a cuddly girl then?

Another Weekend!

Been and gone, done and dusted.  Same old same old really, ending with our crosswords yesterday which we enjoy doing on a Sunday morning listening to the Steve Wright Sunday love songs which we record.
Lovely film on Saturday night. It is ages since we watched a proper film, it was such an enjoyable film we both enjoyed. Called "The Guernsey literary potato peel pie Society" and I have just bought the book on Amazon for the kindle too. Might get round to reading that sometime.  Great film though.
Lockdown still in full flow, even if the relaxation of the rules have been lifted a bit. People can go out for exercise and garden centres open again but that is about it.  Vin went off to the local ones this morning to get some plants for the front garden and some compost. he did quite a bit of weeding and clearing out last week and flled the green bin which was emptied this morning. Well done Vin!
Jessieis isolating again on jane's bed,   all curled up on the little baby blanket, looks lovely.

This is what she has been doing each night for the ast three nights. Just lies there on his front staring up at him.
Good timing vin it has just started raining.

Wake Daddy Up Not Me!

Some ungodly time this morning I felt Jessie trampling all over the bed. proper woke me up shewas all over the bed and eventually jumped off over my feet of course so I turned over. Vin said what's going on? and I said it's your cat, he hadn't felt her at all! No it wasn't a figment of my imagination it was definitely her , he said he probably was on the other side so didn't hear her.  Went back to sleep after a while and got up at our usual time later on.  She reappeared while he was having his breakfast trying to get his toast! Cheeky monkey. Is now fast asleep on Jane's bed up by the pillow bit spreading herself around.
Vin rang up the hospital this morning to cancel the eye screening that wehad for next week. I wasn;t entirely happy about going for that there, after being in our isolation for all of these weeks. he explained that and we were put down as a cancellation. Our jane wasn't happy about us going anyway so we took her advice and the appointment has been deferred.
House insurance came in this morning and that is £44 cheaper than last year so that is good and we will stick with LV who have always been very good anyway. His new car insurance starts today too, he is now with the R.A.C. so that is a change but it was cheaper for the same service.
What me? I don't wake people up, look how innocent I am!!

Overslept!!

Yesterday we did but not this morning. We think that it was because we got up early the day before for the podiatrist, we only got up at a quarter pst eleven!!! our Jane was horrified because she had been up since half past five to get ready for her eight to eight day. And, she cycled to work as well. Puts us to shame really!!
Instead of going to Tesco yesterday as he has been in the habit of doing, he went this morning instead.  We did get up reasonably early this morning so no trouble. He did set the alarm but in the end he doesn't need it, he tends to get up as soon as he wakes, but I don't, I tend to go on sleeping till I am woken up.

The weather has changed a little bit, yesterday and the day before was, definitely cooler as the weather people forecasted. Today is nice and sunny though still a bit cool I think.
We had a bit of a shopping spree yesterday, we ordered some coffee pods from Amazon, also some body soap in the flavour we like. Why do we always refer to scents as flavours? there is a tendency to do that with scented candles as well.  Daft really.
Garden centres are opened again from yesterday but I don't think that we will be going any time soon, not till things are easier anyway. Showed one on the local news last night with queues round the car park, all social distancing of course, waiting to go in. Don't thin it is worth that.
Little Jack from next door is back!! It is ages since he has been around, but Vin was outside getting the bin in and he appeared, ready to attack his feet. He did get in the house and was going mad running at high speed through the rooms. Thankfully jessie wasn't around but hibernating under Jane's bed so was quite safe.  Nice to see you back to normal Jackie boy!
Where is he? I'm waiting to run!!

Tuesday 12 May 2020

Up Early (ish)

Had to get going quite early this morning because Mark the podiatrist was due round about a quarter past nine but he came, sat in his car, probably writing his notes and then came in. Jessie had been asleep on the sofa but she knew something was going on and perked up her ears. When he did eventually come in, she shot off upstairs like streaked lightening. I think she is now under the bed in Jane's room.
All done and dusted by ten so upstairs for an early go on the computer this morning. Not much going on really, things are very quiet the lockdown has eased a little with garden centres opening tomorrow, and some people going back to work from yesterday. As long as you do the social distancing it seems that you  are alright to do so.  Not that that affects us much at all.
I am on the lookout! Anyone comes in and I'm off!

Monday 11 May 2020

Relaxed Rules!

Not much different really. The P.M. spoke yesterday at seven in the evening to tell us what was going on. You can now go out exercising as much as you want as lng as you social distance. People can also go back to work if they cannot work at home. However, Wales and Scotland are keeping their lockdown rules for sometime yet.  So some confusion arises. No return for the hospitality  industry, or foreign travel except for France it seems which is odd. Oh well.
No coffee shops open yet though.  Primary schools open from June, hardly worth their  while since they will soon be closed for the Summer Holidays. People to avoid public transport as much as they can use cars, or bicycles which is fineif you work nearto where you live. We shall wait and see what happens.
Jessie isof course unaffected, she is alternating between downstairs and jane's  bed.
Now which way should I go?

Friday 8 May 2020

Jane's Little Present!

To herself, yesterday she rang up and  told us she had bought herself a little present. A new bike. It is a bright red Raleigh Strada one which she fancied for getting about on. She has bought a helmet and a strong lock for it as well so is all protected. She rode it back to her house from the shop and left her car at Morrisons which meant she had to go back there to get her car back. She needed shopping anyway so went later.  All good for the fitness anyway. just hope she doesn't keep on about bar ends which she did when she was young and at school. Mithered the life out os till  we eventually gave in and got her some!!
Today is V.E. Day the 75th anniversary of said occasion, so everything is wall to wall memories of that day which was momentous in this country's history. Now we need a victory over this virus which is still claiming lives. I read in the paper that nine of the famous Chelsea pensioners have lost their fight over the virus. No sign really of it going away, and we are awaiting the PM on Sunday to let us know what the next step will be.
jessie is still unconcerned about everything, as long as she is near her daddy she is happy in her little world.
She positioned herself very nicely on the landing this morning just outside the bathroom, waiting to trip me up perhaps!!

Thursday 7 May 2020

Up And At Em!

Up and going quite early this morning. Reason, the podiatrist was coming to do my feet, he tends to arrive at the same time about nine fifteen or thereabouts so that is good. He is always on time so that leaves  the rest of the day for Vin to do what he wants.
Even though he opened the front door ready and just left the porch door shut so he didn't have to ring the bell. For some reason Jessie hates the doorbell, we have no idea why but if it goes she runs a mile and hides. Even though the bell didn't go she still ran off and at the time of typing she is still hiding.  No idea where, probably under Jane's bed.
No sign of a relaxing of the lockdown just yet, but we are expecting Boris to say something about it on Sunday.  It is another lovely day today, but is supposed to be getting cooler towards the Bank Holiday weekend. We shall see what happens.
"Was that the doorbell? if it was I'm off!

Monday 4 May 2020

Lockdown Still!

Looks like another week of the lockdown.  Some countries are beginningto relax their rules but not here so far yet.  Apparently boris is speaking on Sunday to tell the country what is going to happen. We shall see therefore.
Not a lot going on in our house at the moment as you would expect, not being able to go anywhere and avoiding going shopping as much aspossible. Vin is just going out on a Wednesday to Tesco at the moment, he is not going the other way to Sainsbury's because it is a smaller shop and not so easy to social distance. With the Tesco store and our corner shop that is enough to keep us going, and vin does a wonderful jobof getting our meals sorted so not too hard going.
Little Jack next door seems to have recovered from his mishap whatener it was, and vin was waving at him through the window so he must be  getting around a bit more.  Our jessie isn't bothered at all, either by the lockdown or by the fact that jack hasn't been around the back garden either. She did go out yesterday but not for long, she is a catty who likes her home comforts is our Jessie.
On the prowl, as long as there is noone else about!

Friday 1 May 2020

Tootsie day!

It is indeed a tootsie day today with the very nice cheerful mark coming to do the feet which are getting better day by day. I was discharged into the care of the community last week from aintree so do not have to go back there and the community podiatrist comes to the house because they are not doing clinics for the over seventies!
Yesterday the new Sky box arrived and Vin was most of the morning getting that set up which he did very successfully. he has reinstated some of the series we watch and also a couple of the ones we have missed so that was a very good job done and all so quick too.
Everything is being done online these days, vin orderedsomething from Argos yesterday that he had a voucher for and that arrived this morning at the same time as the podiatrist which was a bit of a rush but it al went well.    Just waiting for a delivery from M&S now.
Jessie has done her disappearing act again, but has probably come out again now she feels safe again. !
Safe again!
