Freezing!

Really cold today! i fully expected to wake up this morning to loads of snow, but nothing really here on the coast. Looking at the people online some of them in other areas have been hit really badly. One in Norfolk had about a foot of snow overnight and the whole of Norfolk brought to a standstill.  Looking out of the window right now it is snowing quite heavily, and will probably stick because everywhere is quite dry.
Poor Jane is on nights tonight so will probably get loads of broken ankles and arms I should think. I hope it isn't too slippy for her.
We didn't go anywhere today, at least I didn't but intrepid Vin did. he went off to Homebase to get some logs to stock up in case!
Well that flurry of snow has stopped now so that was quick!
Little Jessie hasn't been out either, she much prefers her nice warm basket. all curled up and lovely and warm. Funny at lunchtime, we had soup with a few croutons and a slice of olive and rosemary bread toasted. She jumped up on the arm of Vin's chair and looked very interested. He said it wasn't cream cake, but he thought it was the smell of the rosemary, and that maybe it was a bit like catnip!! He is probably right as I think it is of the same family.
In her hut last night, right by the fire, best spot in the house!

Snow!!

Well we were going to go to Dobbies today, but when we woke up  everywhere was covered in snow. So that decided it for us and we stayed in. Vin did the bedding instead, very exciting.
Poor Jane has no choice today, she was on eight to eight, and shee rang up at lunchtime to say it was very snowy where she was too. The roads weren't too bad but the pavements slippy if you didn't watch.  I asked her if her windscreen was iced up but it wasn't once the snow was moved it was ok. That saves time anyway.
Little Jessie actually went out today, I didn't think she would but she decided to go and have a look. Not for long though! Vin was saying through the window "you all right ? " and she sat on the step and waited till he let her in again!. Too posh to push again!
Cream cake time  Jessie?

Monday 26 February 2018

Supposed to be very very cold this week, and forecast for snow everywhere. I do have to say that whilst it is really chilly, there is no snow and it is very sunny looking out of the window. Listening to the radio however, there does seem to be patches of snow around. We do happen to be quite lucky on this coast though, and it has to be quite bad for us to get snowfall.
We had a nice viewing weekend on Saturday and Sunday. We watched  all three episodes of Little Women. We had it on the HD and were looking for something to watch, so Vin said we'll scroll down and see what we have. Came across that from Christmas and decided to go with it.  It was absolutely gorgeous, we enjoyed it hugely. Terrific acting and beautiful scenery. We were convinced it was New England but it turned out it was filmed in Ireland!
Little Jessie went out twice today, even given how cold it was!
Not for long though!

Podiatry Again!

Podiatry again, twice in one week. they will be getting tired of me!  Mainly it was to get the insoles fitted for the slippers that I had previously had from them. We had to ring to check up whether they were in otherwise we did not have to go, but they rang back to say they were so off we went at 1.00. We thought it would be really quick, but we didn't get out till 2.30. We waited quite a long time today, and then the feet needed re-doing to fit them, but all was done.
On the way home Vin called in at the garden centre to get one of their cherry cakes so we could have a smidgen of cake with our coffee later.  Their cherry cakes are lovely actually, and will tide us over till we get to Dobbies next week.
Little Jessie was really lively today, she was up and down like a yo-yo. Following her daddy and jumping up and down on the bed.  He said he was trying to hide from her and get under the covers, but she is getting crafty now and puts a paw up to  tickle his cheek till he gives up and goes down to feed her.
She was nearly in the fire last night! notice the slippers in a nice Burgundy colour.

In Today!

Since we were out yesterday and maybe out tomorrow, we are not sure about that yet, we are in today. It is really lovely and bright outside and looking out of the window it looks really sunny. However, Vin keeps coming in to say how cold it is. Watching the weather forecast, and it says that it is expected to be very cold this evening too. We actually haven't had too much frost or snow this winter actually, so we are quite lucky.
Our Jane is on nights for a few days now, I wonder how she manages to sleep with all this bright light coming in through the curtains. Either very thick curtains or a sleep mask.  At least they don't have a landline so they don't get disturbed by foreign phone calls !
Jessie was funny this morning, Vin says she was miaowing everywhere he went. He went in the front room and she followed him miaowing there. He came in the middle room and she miaowed there. He went in the kitchen and she miaowed there too. She wanted food< there was food there, but she wanted a different one! Cheeky monkey!
Waiting patiently. I hope she isn't waiting for  cream cake because there isn't any. I'm lying. There is a tiny piece left, I MIGHT let her have some cream from the middle if she is nice to me!

Ooops!

Firstly an apology to our Jane. I posted a picture of what I thought was her yesterday, but it wasn't. It was a photo of a girl from a paper who  is her Doppelganger! looks exactly the same, very confusing. Sorry Jane.
Today we had an appointment at podiatry at 3.30. So basically the whole day revolved round that. We had to do everything a bit earlier and left the house at about a quarter to three after squashing everything up.  Got there at around 3.15 just about sat down and then heard my name called. Good start! Saw the lovely Cathy . I like her always have done. She is one of those easy down to earth people who gets on with things.  Mind you the whole team is great, they are like old friends by now!.
Had my feet dressed and was given some new podiatry shoes a bit smaller, so a bit easier to walk on.  I have another appointment on Friday with the orthotist, but she said  to ring up first in case the shoes aren't in to just check.
Little Jessie was in her basket  when we left and was still there when we got back! Don't think she moved at all. Vin said Hello Puss when we got in the house and she just about raised her head.  Hmmmm.!

Nice and Bright!

Lovely day today really. Bright and sunny although the forecast for tonight is cooler and maybe frosty. You just do not know what to expect these days. Typical of the type of the year really.
Little Jessie went out this morning in the sunshine. Vin says "Look Jen she's gone out in the sun, " as if  I can see over the window sill! So I just say  Ah how lovely and leave it at that. Then she does her routine sitting on the step and waits to be let in. So he drops his lunch and runs to let her in.  What a Princess.! Definitely too posh to push!
Outside looking in!
Our Jane rang up on her way home from trying to get her hair cut. Apparently they were closed again, so she says she will try again next week.  Hope she is lucky then her hair must be well over her eyes ! Shame really it looks gorgeous short.

Monday 19 February 2018

Just Another Monday!

Yep! Just anther Monday. We didn't go out anywhere today mainly because we are out on Wednesday and Friday this week and that is enough till the weather picks up a bit anyway.
Vin had his usual trips to Tesco and Sainsbury over the weekend. We had a voucher for money off  at Tesco so he stocked up on things like coffee mints  and other things that we keep. Cat foods and cat litter always useful for his Princess.
She went out yesterday and then sat on the step waiting to be let in. I said "Why doesn't she come in through the cat flap?"  He said  "She's too posh to push" I thought that was hilarious.  He can be really dry sometimes.
Not out for long though because she doesn't like to be too far from her Daddy!

Short and Sweet!

Stayed in today so short and sweet post as a result.  Funny thing happened though. I was clearing the e-mails from the AOL and noticed one to Vin about a new direct debit account set up to BMW. I left it for him  and he said that he had not set up any direct debits. The other odd thing was that  when he looked online at his bank account there was a notice that hiss account was overdrawn! The thibng is that it wasn't. So he contacted the bank and they said that it was not to do with them and was incorrect. They would keep an eye on his account. Very mysterious.
We didn't go out today mainly because it is possibly half-term. Judging by the clouds of steam comin g from the boiler next door we are not the only ones.! Haven't heard from the prodigal daughter yet so I do hope that she did get her hair cut.
Little Jessie therefore has had a nice quiet day. She came up on the bed this morning and settled on her daddy's front beautifully. Looked really lovely all nestled into him. Then he decided to get up for a shave and she slid over to my side. That didn't last long!!! She was off like she had been shot! Oh well we all know who she loves best!
Definitely his cat!

Yesterday and Today !

Yesterday we were up early to get to Aintree for an appointment at 10.30, at the podiatry clinic.  We got there on time because we are very rarely late. That is one thing about us, if we have appointments we get there on time. The girls greeted me like an old friend, which was nice, and had a look at the feet. I have unfortunately got a blister on the base of the left foot which Vin has been putting a plaster on each night. Also a small area on the right foot which has been rubbing probably on the slipper.  Anyway the "foot lady"  came and looked at everything  and eventually decided to take my lovely slippers away and put some new reformed insoles in them. So, sadly I am back in the duck feet shoes for the time being till  we go back  next Wednesday.  When we had eventually finished there Vin went off for his car, and we went off to Costa for a lovely coffee.  He had a coconut latte with soya milk and I had a flat white.  Our usual spot in there, and a bit of people watching. Chiefly today was a young mum with a little girl. The child was running round while mum got their food and trying to take her coat off. Eventually she got it off and threw it on the floor! . Couldn't keep still, and running round all over the place. Mum spent a lot of her time on her phone, typical of what you see these days really. So many ignored kids!
Home easily by lunchtime and neither of us could be bothered coming upstairs again so stayed by the fire in the warm!
Today we stayed in which we normally do if we have been out the day before.  A lot brighter today, which is better than yesterday which was really cold and icy.  Little Jessie has been quite quiet today, mostly in her basket.  Once her daddy has fed her in the morning she tends to leave him alone, as long as he is around she is quite happy.
My lovely red house shoes! now with podiatry for a while.
Our Jane rang up this morning, she was going to get her hair cut Hooray! The last time she was here it was right over her eyes.  Hope she did everything she wanted to do today.
Jessie has just been moved out of her basket by the doorbell. She hates them and runs upstairs mostly.
Wary of the bell !

Tuesday 13 February 2018

Weather!!!!

You never know where you are with the weather these daays! We woke up this morning to a grey rainy day. Very little light coming through, but now it has cleared up and is all bright.
Vin looked out of the window this morning at our road to see a woman parking her car where the dentist usually parks. She got out and went over to the station which usually means it is there all day. The road these days is becoming a car park for people who park, go off on the train and then return in the evening. We were listening to an item on the radio however which was about people who parked a car on somebody's drive, and then went on to leave it while they went to work or shopping! Can't believe that, how can anyone have the nerve to do that. Apparently if you damage their car too, you would get done for criminal damage, so you can't let their tyres down or anything else!
Vin was saying this morning how our Jessie had not been out for a couple of days, and with that she jumps down from her perch in her basket and goes outside! Only to return about two minutes later because it is cold!. Little madam.
Back in to her daddy. Home to safety.

Monday 12 February 2018

Snowing?

It seems to be snowing all over the place today, but while we have had  hail last night we haven't had any snow. We do appear to be very lucky here on the coast, touch wood! and it has to be very bad for us to get any bad weather.
Our Jane rang up when we were having our late lunch after what seemed to be a really short sleep. She had been on nights  but is now off till Tuesday, so can have a breather and get her hair cut!!!!
She looks really nice with the short cut that she normally has but it has got so long it's over her eyes. Trouble is she just hasn't got round to getting it done. Hope she will now.
Not quite like this though!!  I love this picture.
Little Jessie is quiet today, she woke her daddy up as usual for her first meal of the day, then went back in her basket, she did come up on the bed when we were having our breakfast though and let me have a stroke. very short however and she soon deserted me for him. There really is only one person in her life.
I've got him!!

Friday 9 February 2018

Supposed To Be Cold!

The weather forecast for everywhere today was deep frost or snow. Nothing like that here but it is very cold. Expected for February though, some of the poor little bulbs are growing in the front garden and I just hope that  they don't get bitten by the frosts.  Probably not!
Vin has been looking up about Pelham puppets and there are loads made. The one i have, my Lettice Leefe is quite rare apparently because they didn't make very many, during the years 1952-1956.
On my box there is a note which says you can send it back to the factory  and get them re-stringed for 2/6d. That is old money of course. Nowadays it will cost you £25 new money. Gone up a bit in 61 years!
Little Jessie came up last night, just as Vin was saying how quiet she was today, she jumps up on the bed and flops onto his front. Settles down and goes to sleep!  She did the same this morning too after she had been fed.  She knows where her daddy is that's for sure!
Posing again!

My Big Christmas Present!

When I was about ten, I got for Christmas the one thing I wanted which was a Pelham Puppet of Lettice Leefe. She was a character from the big "Girl" comic at the time, and that was my want list for christmas. I loved that puppet and played with her for ages. Since i was a good girl with my things i always kept her in good condition so we still have the box and the original tissue paper that she came in. Also all of the paper work how to untangle the strings etc., not that I ever did!  It says inside you can send them back for re-stringing for the princely sum of 2/6p.  We have seen  them for sale on Antique shows and some of them fetch quite a sum. In fact Vin was looking online and one exactly the same as mine was sold at Bonhams for £500 ! Just shows you, keep something long enough and it is worth something!
We have stopped in today, except that vin nipped over to the garden centre at ladygreen to get a cake for our afternoon coffee with Countdown. He had said that we didn't have any cake and whilst we only have a small piece it is a bit of a treat. He came back with a cherry cake. Goody my favourite.
Haven't heard from our Jane, she is probably still sleeping! However, I do hope that she has had her hair cut!! It was right over her eyes and does look lovely when it has been done.
Little Jessie has been in her hut a lot during the last few days, keeping  warm we think. she also spends a lot of time in her basket, which is nearest to her daddy so she is happy!
Somebody's favourite girl!

Back Again!

Back again since Friday.  our Jane came home on Saturday for the weekend  so I tended to leave her alone in the afternoons when she usually had a sleep.  She went home last night at nightime when she said the traffic was lighter.  She rang up when she got home at around half past eleven on her way to tesco, no doubt to replenish her stocks of pepsi Maxi cherry flavour! Pity she doesn't have shares in that firm.
Today we are clearing up her room, getting the bedding done for next time, which hopefully won't be too long.  It was lovely to see her though.  Vin did her hair on Sunday, now all she needs is a good hair cut. There is a place she goes to in Manchester who do a lovely cut, gets it really short which suits her.
Little  Jessie wasn't bothered by her visit. She is probably getting used to her now. Actually, the only things she runs away from are doorbells. We wonder what has frightened her in the past to be so scared of doorbells.  All of the cats we have ever had have been wary of something or other. One a lovely little black one called Inky was terrified of the black coal hod, or my black boots. If I came in the house in those she would scoot upstairs like lightening. We always  reckon she must have been kicked or something when  she was with a former owner.  No other wxplanation for it really.
Anyway little Jessie was happy enough to see Jane and wasn't at all bothered.
Cream cake with her daddy tonight.!

Friday 2 February 2018

Bright But Sunny and Cold!

Judging by the amount of steam that is  coming out of next door's outlet from their boiler, it must be quite cold.
We stopped in today  no more appointments to go to and it is nice to have a breather from them at least.
Our Jane rang up yesterday on her way to the Trafford centre to do a bit of shopping. Wonder what she bought. Probably a nice selection of ready meals knowing her :)
We got a card today, or at least Vin did ! from the people down the road who used to own little  Jessie. It was a nicely drawn card from the little girl of the house showing a fat cat sitting in the middle with a food and water bowl at the side.   It pictured her perfectly.
We only got the cat because the little boy of the house developed a really bad allergy to cats so unfortunately Jessie had to be rehomed. Sheis certainly happy with her daddy though.
Cupboard love!  He gad some baby mincepies the other night and some of the squirty cream that Jane brought home with her. She wouldn't leave him alone till he had given her some!!!  She doesn't come after anything I have though!!

Thursday 1 February 2018

Busier Yesterday!

Yesterday  was a busier day than today. We got up reasonably as I had a hair appointment at the hairdressers, mainly to get my hair cut. It hadn't been done since July !!! I couldn't believe that when Vin told me from his diary.  In the meantime the salon I normally go to had moved to a larger premises in Formby. It was a horrible day actually and the door to the salon is right on a corner. I was nearly blown off my feet!  Lovely hair wash  nice young girl with a very gentle touch. Then my hair cut. Nice and tidy again and hopefully looks a lot better.  Out of there one hour later and we went off to Tesco to their Costa. Vin had an Americano and I had a flat white which was lovely. We both remarked just how many older people there were in there. Most of them with food things as well. We seem to be the group with all of the money these days!!
Home to a nice quiet afternoon.
Today we have stayed in , it is a brighter day, but Vin says it is very cold. Our Jane  rang up as we were having our coffee, she was on her way to The Trafford Centre. To do some shopping she said.  She was telling me about  her night shift on tuesday, sounded awful, and a load of troublesome cases. Oh dear!
Little Jess didn't move yesterday when we went out, today she woke her daddy up fairly early and plonked herself on his front.  Then she spent the rest of the day in her basket. As usual then.

She went in her hut last night and stayed there for ages. Keeping warm by the fire I suppose.
