Fryday!

Apparently it is going to be extremely hot today the weather forecasters are saying. So far it is fairly warm, wonder if that will mean hoardes of people going to the beaches again? Probably. Some bodies seem to have no idea of social distancing at all, and the latest news is that Greater Manchester has been put into local lockdown too.  Fears of a second spike.
It appears that next door's cat has gone missing, not jack as Vin had been told but Millie the little girl one.  Trouble is that she is far more timid than Jack is and has not really been near Vin at all, whereas jack will go to him quite readily for a play. He also comes to our back door to get a few biscuits that Vin pokes through the cat flap, taking his hand back quickly before he gets it. !
Couldn't seem to get onto the new post slot yesterday so wasn't able to get onto the blog, but today I saw the new post slot so have made it again. Looks like they have altered the layout of the blog site again. Do wish they would leave things alone. So annoying when things change. You have to find your way around again. Got there in the end though.
Little Jessie meanwhile carries on as normal, she is presently asleep on the footstool in the front room. She likes it in there until the front door bell goes then she runs off like a streak of lightening. usually ends up under Jane's bed where she goes into a little corner at the end where she can barely be reached.  Generally goes to sleep then comes out when she is hungry or needs a Daddy fix!

God knows what they have done with the photo albums.  Nothing is coming up as normal. Grrrrr!

Mondays!

Would be a horrible day to go to work, it is a Monday morning, dark and rainy and very blowy. Quite wintry in fact. More like March or October. Apparently it is going to warm up by the end of the week though. We shall see.
Mark the podiatry man was due today so we were up earlyish to be ready for him.  He arrived about half past ten nearly getting blown up the garden path. Seems to be getting more blowy as the day goes on too. Not a good day for going out at all.
We watched a newseries on BBC last night called "A Suitable Boy" which has been hyped for quite a while now. It was terrible! we gave up after twenty minutes, and turned it off. ended up watching the repeat series of Downton Abbey and it was far superior. Oh Dear ! i fear the Beeb has bombed with their one. it was so frantic you had no idea what was going n and  there were things going on that you just didn't understand. People throwing red dust about for one thing, goodness knows what that was about.
Jessie woke her Daddy up early for feeding this morning. They are very insistent when they want to be. She hangs around till he gives up and gets up. She had settled down on the sofa later, and Vin spoiled that because he started vacuuming the carpet n the middle room ready for the podiatrist.  She jumped off and I presume she is under Jane's bed in the corner fast asleep. She will surface later whe3n it is time for feeding again.
Posing outside. She isn't going out today though. !

Nowt Doin!

Another day at the fun factory, that is speak for not a lot going on at all. new rules for wearing face masks from tomorrow they will be mandatory in all shops and supermarkets, and now they are saying they should be worn to collect takeaways! Not to eat them I assume!
It is a year since Boris Johnson was announced as Prime minister. What a year! Started with all the rows over Brexit, but that all seems to be largely forgotten now, along with the virus taking over from everything else.
Jessie doesn't care about anything at all, as long as she is fed, watered and has a comfy place to lay her head she is very happy.
And my Daddy of course!

Tesco!

Back to normal this week after going a day or so later last week. He has gone to replenish our stocks f essential items and get some fresh food today. No need to wear masks till Friday yet but not sure whether he has taken one with him. Don't think so.
Nothing very much going on at the moment, nothing n the local facebook, apart from the night flying helicopters, which Vin says are quite noisy, I don't hear them of course. One advantage of being deaf! Our day is very much same of the same, with the exception of Monday when the podiatry man comes, and Wednesdays when he does the shopping.  The days of nipping out to get a nice quick coffee seem to have disappeared for the time being. Boris Johnson says we will be back to normal by Christmas but not so sure about that really.
Schools have broken up for the summer holidays which is a bit of a laugh since they have been closed since March!  Back in September apparently.
Summer holidays not yet going, seems to be a case of staycation as they are calling them now. Traffic back to normal on the roads, quite heavy now.
Apart from all that life is trundling on.
Jessie is keeping herself to herself, mostly she seems to like the front room, must be a nice quiet spot for her to get some shut eye.
I like this one, Vin and his little Princess!

Monday Again!

'Twas on a Monday mrning and all that! The podiatry man came to call. Round about a quarter to ten he arrived, complete with new haircut. He had said that he was going to get it done on Saturday after booking it first. I guess the days of just dropping in have gone now.
He redressed the offending toe with the new dressing which seems to be doing the job which is to soften the skin on the top to allow healing. He will be back next week so that is good.
Quite a nice dry sunny day here today, not boiling just right.    Blue skies and just a bit of breeze.  Jessie did her disappearing act when Mark arrived, i don't think he has seen her yet!
Very sad day in Australia today, because it was our John's funeral at 10a.m.  their time, so when we got up this morning it would all be over. Hope it all went well and that Ann is ok.  She will miss him so much , at least she has all her lovely family to keep an eye on her. The three girls will anyway and their husbands and children too.
Jessie must be having a good sleep this morning, she wakes Vin up quite early for feeding, then finds a nice spot to sleep it off.
A nice little rest to keep you going!

Up Early (ish)

Not that early actually, just a bit earlier than normal. We were waiting for the podiatry man who generally comes around half past nine or a bit later. today he was a bit later but it doesn't matter, all was ready. He did what he had to do and put another dressing on the offending toe and said he would try that and come back on Monday to check on how it was doing. All done by a quarter to eleven.
Jessie had done a runner of course because as soon as Vin gets the vacuum out she disappears.  Probably under the bed in Jane's room, she will come out later when she knows the coast is clear.
Not a bad day today, quite bright although we are supposed to be getting a bit of rain later. Same as usual then! Not a brilliant summer so far, apart from some time in May when we were supposed to be on lockdown.
Best seat in the house! For me anyway!

Thursday..Tesco!

Off he has gone to tesco this morning to get some groceries to top us up for the next week. He aws also going to the Formby Hardware to get a couple of gas cylinders  not for sniffing I might add but for his weed burner.  A lot more mundane. !
All this rain and drizzle is making them grow like mad. Doesn't bother little Jack from next door though, he still comes to our garden and Vin said he was on the cat's hut this morning licking and sunning himself.
It is quite nice today yesterday was very drizzly off and on, but there is a clear sky this morning and looking fairly good.  Vin was talking to our neighbour this morning and they were having a conversation about the leaves that are coming down, almost like an early Autumn. Very odd!
Jessie is round and about, came up and got Vin for a feed this morning as she sometimes does.
Time for feeding! and maybe a little bit of claw sharpening too!

Tea!

Vin has nearly run out of his favourite tea which he has when he has a mug of tea mostly at night. Jane had verykindly sent him some as a parcel of goodies she sent us. Aaaah! Thankfully it is back in stock on Amazon so we took the opportunity to order some this morning.  Plus we have vouchers from the shopping scanning that we do when we buy groceries or do questionnaires online. We have got two packs of six for £5 with the vouchers, quite a bargain.
We have now got to wear a mask in shops and stores, frm July 24th or face a fine of £100. Notice Boris and Donald have now started to wear them, and not before time really.
Vin is his usual busy self, doing the bedding the last couple of days, plus looking after his princess. Not me, his furry one!
Jane is on days this week well three on a run 8-8, she rang up last night and sounmded very tired too probably had a long day, a McDonalds burger on the way home might have helped a bit.
We are awaiting deliveries this morning or afternoon for that matter. One is something from Jane, and the other is for Vin and me which is the sound box.Wending it;s way from Belgium.
Jessie is all over the house, under Jane's bed, in the front room, and quite a lot on the sofa beside her Daddy on the sofa.
Which way shall I go when the bell goes??

What a Week!

Started off with the news about John, and emails frm Oz about the arrangements. Ann has requested no flowers but a donation to The Fred Hollows foundation which is a charity that Joh supported and was one of his favourite charities. So we will get that arranged.
Otherwise it has been a week of the car. Vin went out on Wednesday to get in his car to go to Tesco only to come back to say that his battery was flat and wouldn't start at all. His battery charger wasn't working  either so he asked our neighbour if he could borrow theirs, that wouldn't get it going either so another plan was hatched to get the R.A.C. to bring one toreplace the dead one. This they did yesterday so he has gone ff to Tesco this morning,. He hasn't come back yet so that must be a go then.  Unfortunately weoverslept a bit thismorning so he was a bit late but I'm sure he will get round ok. Bless him.
Meanwhile Jessie has been doing what she does naturally, miaowing for her foode, sleeping on her blanket or running round a bit in the middle room.  Vin brought her into the bedrom this morning because she was on the landing but she wasn't having any of it, jumped off pretty quickly but I did get a bit of a sort of remote stroke. Only her Daddy will do!
Best place in the house!!

News From Australia!

Had a message on Facebok yesterday that my brother had passed away in the morning.  So sad to hear this, I was beginning to think he was invincible. He had breathing problems, but thankfully nothing to do with the virus, Ruth, their middle daughter said he passed away peacefully in his sleep.
John was born on the 2.2.1931 and died on the 7.7.20 so not quite ninety.
What a life! married to Ann for well over 60 years, four children, three girls and  one boy, lots of grandchildren and now great grandchildren too. Emigrated to Australia twice, the first time to Brisbane, the second to Perth where they settled. The second time they went, he went first to earn the money to send for Ann and the children. They have all settled and married in different areas of Oz., and the girls are in close touch. They also a number of years ago went twice round the coast of Australia in a camper van, quite a feat in itself. The children were all grown up by then, so they did it on their own with the cat too.  Always kept in touch, and we have seen their oldest girl twice which was lovely, when they came to iverpool. John doesn't write often but always bery interesting and witty letters in that lovely neat writing that he had. Poor Ann, she must be devastated, so glad she has the girls close to her.
Vin is still  having car trouble with the dreaded battery, he had borrowed our next door neighbours battery charger but he has just rung up to say that he is still outside the house and it still won't start! What a pain for him. The idea was to go off to Formby to get a new battery and do the Tesco shop, but he has given up on that.
Jessie was up early again, half past six to be xact, and wanted feeding. That was nice of her!
Our John 2.2.31-7.7.20 R.I.P.

Eventful!

Yesterday Vin decided to go to Tesco to get a flan for our teas, plus some other stuff we had run out of. Went out to the car and nothing doing. Thought he had been and cme back very quickly when he saaid that the battery was flat, and apart from that his battery charger was flat too! Gremlins at work possibly!. brought the battery in and put it on charge and it is now ready to go again. Thinking about it, he has only been going to Tesco once a week at the moment, otherwise we have been in because of the Lockdown, clearly not enough to give the battery enough charge.
Also on Friday the sound box downstairs went kaput. Couldn't turn it on with my remoter, and Vin couldn't turn it on with his either. He tried everything but no go at all. Eventually he got through to Bose to find that it cannot be repaired because it is obselete! and it isn't that old, about ten years or so.  They offered him a replacement one for half the Argos price so he went for that, which they are sending. We have to send the old one back, so he spent the whole of saturday trying to cbble together a box to put it into. Quite a job actually but he made a brilliant job of it really and it is being collected today by a courier.
Busy day today, started off early with the podiatry man, who hasn't been for about ten days. The foot is doing ok, but is noot yet fully closed but looking fine.  Just keep going.  Also the  curier is due to colect the parcel with the sound box. At around one o'clock the Dr from the Diabetic clinic is due to ring for my diabetic review, which is being done by phone, instead of going to the clinic in Aintree.  Did my weight yesterday and was surprised to see very little change, also the blood sugar readings yesterday and today very god too, so all good in that respect.
Vin has just come up to say "guess what?" the car won't start! even after the charging yesterday. Must be totally kaput, and will need replacing. Can't be done today, so will have to be done tomorrow. Talk about gremlins!
Jessie has done her usual disappearing trick when the vacuum comes out, hiding somewhere, probably under jane's bed, she feels safe there.
I'll come down when I am ready thankyou!

Thursday 2 July 2020

Oh Dear!

Yet another cod and miserable day, getting to be a habit now. must admit I would rather have cool weather than hot, it is much easier t get warm than it is to get col.
Vin went off to do the weekly shop at Tesco yesterday, said it wasn't too busy, seems to be a good day for going on a Wednesday, mid week so not too crowded. He got quite a few things for us all including the cat, who is usually top of the list! Actually got a nice box of Toblerone chocs, the tiny ones of different flavours, so we will have something a bit different for the weekend,
Covid still causing trouble, with Leicester being a ocal lockdown due to a peak in new cases. Don't think it will be the onlyone either. Most small businesses are due to open on the 4th of july. Including hairdressers and barbers. Wonder how many others will go under, probably quite a lot. We hear of job losses a lot on the high street, and in the aviation industry.
Jane rang up on Tuesday night, on her way home. She had beento McDonalds to get a veggie burger, she got home undressed, got settled down nly to find she had been given a chickenburger!! What a pain after a twelve hour shift. She had to get dressed again and go all the way back to get it changed. What a shame for her.
Jessie did not wake her Daddy up this morning like she did yesterday at half past six. Must have been sleepy, or it was darker.
Fancy waking up to see this face loking at you in the eye.
