Another Cold One!

No snow here though it is cold outside so Vin ssays.  Jane rang up this morning for a chat and to say that the pavements are very slippy there so I bet she is glad that she isn't at work because there are probably a lot of broken bones around. She had gone out to her car and the pavement was really slippy so she wasn't going out today. Neither are we for that matter no point in going anywhere for a coffee when we can have a lovely coffee at home!
Next door's were out in their garden doing some tidying up, they must be frozen!  I see they are now inside with clouds of steam coming out of their heating vent so they must be warming up.
Our Jessie hasn't been out for a bit, she likes her home comforts that one, preferring her nice little warm basket and her Daddy to get her food when she miaows for it. Not soft that one!
Best spot in the house!  She will wake up in a bit though it is nearly cream cake time. Not that she gets the cake, she gets some cream from the middle!

Snow!!

Rainy yesterday morning and then it went cold during the afternoon. There were dire warnings about snow on the weather forecasts mostly further up north than where we are here. It did snow overnight but it was only light here. Some area had it quite bad and it was fairly deep in places like the lake District and Wales. It melted quite quickly here and was gone by mid morning. our Jane rang up to say that  it was snowing there in Manchester and she sent a photo of her back garden and it looked quite deep there. She wasn't going to go out in that she said and was going to stay in the warm. Don't blame her it is what we were going to do.
Vin went off to Tesco because he wanted some coffee whitener he had run out. he came back at coffee time with that and a few other things and also a little conifer tree for the barrel at the front of the house. He had been to the garden centre over the road where he had a voucher for a half price plant so it was good value. Lovely little tree looks like a tiny Christmas tree!
Little Jessie has had a very normal busy day, miaowing for her food this morning and then sleeping in her basket for the rest of the time. Nice and comfy and with radio two on for company what more does aa little cat need?
Please can I have some cream cake now daddy  I've been a good girl haven't I ?

A Quiet Day!

A nice normal quiet day in our house today. W3e don't tend to go out on a Monday unless of course we have an appointment somewhere. This week we don't actually have to go anywhere so we can do what we want to.
Not an awful lot in the news either at the moment, still  talking about the "B" word which completely turns me off and bores me to tears. The sooner they get it over with the better.
Jessie is presently in front of the heater in the middle room, the fire is not lit yet  so that space in front of it is not warm enough for her at the moment. She is a great fire lover this one, and likes to stretch out in front of it with her face on the fender in front of it.  She jumped up on the bed this morning for a cuddle with her daddy and sat on his chest for ages. In the end he had to movee her while he got up to get a shave. She of course ran off looking quite cross with him.
Won't last long though it's cream cake day today!
One man and his cat!!! Don't look so snooty Vin!

Not As Cool Today!

It is a bit warmer today I think! Well there isn't any snow on the ground anyway, nor sleety rain. However there are clouds of steam coming from next door's heating vent so maybe it is cooler than I think.
Yesterday Vin spent the morning removing our old television from the bedroom which is very large and cumbersome and took up a lot of room. We got a new one a couple of weeks ago from Argos which is a Hitachi one and has the same screen size but is a lot smaller and not as obtrusive. He was yesterday morning tuning it in and getting the channels right and working out how the remoter worked. Looks great, and works great too. Nice to have one where all the channels come on when you want.
Today we have stayed in, we have had our coffees for the week and the shopping days are tomorrow and Sunday. I think the nights are drawing out a bit because it is now twenty to five and it is still quite light outside. Makes a difference to look out of the window and not see pitch black.
Little Jessie is in her basket fast asleep and probably dreaming of cream cake which is a pity because it has run out!
She looks half asleep here dreaming of the cream.

Frost6y The Snowman!

Very grey day yestterday as it is today as well. We were up early yesterday because we had an early appointment at the podiatry clinic in Aintree. Very overcast as we were driving  and then as we got there the sleet started which went into hailstones and heavy they were too. The car park Vin said was crammed so he had to park outside luckily the hail had stopped but he still came in wet looking. What a trooper!  Quick dressings done by Annie then we went off to the Aintree retail park to the Costa coffee to get a coffee. Still sleety so nice to get in the warm. I had my usual flat white which is a good size one and Vin had a latte with a flavour in. Lovely, and we were home before one o'clock too!
Today we have stopped in and it is really cold with frost everywhere although it looked bright as the morning progressed. The trains were off today so pity help the people who go to work on them, it would be cars today i think. Poor cold people. We of course have stayed in today no point in going out since we were out yesterday anyway. Little Jessie hasn't been out much at all she stops in the house in the warm, in her little basket with radio two in the background. Good life for a cat eh!
Working up an appetite for her usual little taste of cream from the cream cake.!

What A Grey Day!!

Today, according to the papers is officially the worst day of the year. Not surprising really, you look out of the window and it is  grey, murky and not very nice at all.  Vin went off to Formby this morning because the local shop did not have any Daily Expresses and he always does their general knowledge crossword so he went off for one of those.
Our Jane rang up this morning on her way back from her eye appointment at the Manchester Eye Hospital. She says that the eye that they did the botox on is now back to square one again so she is on the list again to have it done again in the hopes that it will work this time. Hope it does for her sake.
We stopped in today mainly because we don't normally go out on a Monday anyway, but we are out early tomorrow for a podiatry appointment so we shall have to get going. We shall probably have a coffee somewhere after that if we finish on time.
Little Jessie has had her claws cut! Vin has just come up to say that she let him do them, and he thinks she knows he is doing it to help her. Bless him.
At the moment when she gets on to the bed her claws get caught in the quilt, so she did need them doing.  Good news is that there is cream cake for being a good girl!

Brrr!

Not snowy or frosty but very cold. Vin went out for the paper this morning and came back to say how cold it was, then our Jane rang up as we were having our breakfast to say she had been to the Post Office  to get a parcel and then to Sainsbury's to get some suppluies. She said it was bitterly cold so she had come home to get warm and watch some netflix. Nice life!
We were going to go out somewhere today but given the weather and the fact that we have already been to Dobbies last week we decided not to bother. Neither of us were fired up enough to go out so we didn't. Nice life!
Judging by the amount of steam that is coming out of the vent next dooor they are feeling the cold too.
Our Jessie is nice and tucked up in her basket, all warm and cosy with the radio on to keep her company her daddy says.  Nice life!
Last of the cream cake today!

B is for...

Boring Brexit! Who ever inventesd that word wants shooting! I swear if I hear any more about that subject i will scream, but it seems it is likely to go on for an absolute age yet.  Deal or no deal, it makes no odds to me, and i don't suppose it will have any effect on our lives. Still they march on, the debaters and the talkers, and they are very welcome.
Pouring down here too  nothing to lift the greyness of the mood today either. It is a good job we weren't going out today because I think we would have got very wet. Very drab month January, nothing happening and all of the joy of christmas well and truly gone. Everything away now for another ten or so months.  A month for nice wrm fires and lovely hot coffees and we are fine!
Little Jessie enjoys the fires too and most nights is to be found sprawled in front of it with her chin on the wooden fender in front of it. She looks lovely there and only gets up to chase her daddy for some food when she is hungry. Brexit does not bother her one little bit. What a nice state to be in!
As long as it doesn't affect my cream cake!!!

A Normaaal Day!

Just a nice normal day for us after Christmas. Everything gone now and put away all done and dusted.
Vin went off to formby this morning because the village shop had run out of the paper that he gets on a Monday which has a general knowledge crossword in it that he ikes doing. Also for some reason he didn't have any cow biscuits left this morning which is unusual because he normally has a stock of them. He only had one left which he had given to me and I hadn't noticed that he didn't have one. What a saint! Polish the halo Vin!  For some reason yesterday the edge of the shed roof had come off too so he went to price up roofing felt at Homebase and at the building suppliers (Which was dearer too). Now waiting for a drier day to fix it.
I was trying to get on a bit with the letter to go with the birthday parcel for our John who's birthday is on the 2nd of Feb., but having to send it to Australia you have to think ahead. At least his birthday will be a bit warmer than it would be here. February is quite often a very grey month here with not a lot happening apart from Valentine's day.
Jessie has had a nice quiet time of it lately. Vin came home from  Crosby yesterday with a new carton of Otex ear drops for me because the other one had run out. He put it on the little chair by the door in the living room and she went to it about three or four times during the evening. Makes you wonder whaat it has in it, maybe some essence of catnip perhaps??
Did I hear you say Crosby? Goody that means cream cake!!!

Dobbies!

Yesterday we took ourselves off to Dobbies. We needed to get something for our John for his birthday and also it was a good opportunity to get out of the house and have our free coffees for  the month.
When we got there it was really quiet with loads of parking spaces and not many people inside. We had a quick look at the sale items but did not see anything that we either needed or wanted. If you were loking for Christmas items they had tons of them of all sorts and sizes. It seemed to me that they had over ordered they had so much. We have more than enough decorations so don't need any more of those.
Not much in the food hall but we did get some more of the shortbreads that we like and a cake to keep us going. We also found a book of cartoons by Giles so got that for John. I think (hope) he was fond of  those in earlier years so hope he gets some enjoyment from them.
When we left to go to Dobbies it was grey and drizzly but while we had our coffees a mist developed, which actually was quite thick. Still cars on the road witout lights which is a bit stupid given the visibility.
Today we have stopped in and done bits and bobs really. Just spent a happy (not) half an hour trying to get an order on Amazon with the free p&p. We had a voucher  for fifteen pounds but the trouble was it brought the total price down to just below the twenty pounds for free delivery. In the end we lost patience after trying to find something for 60p but not successful, so just went with the price given. Couldn't be bothered fiddling any more and Vin was getting impatient so that was it.
Little Jessie deigned to come upstairs while we were fiddling with the Amazon site and was miaowing like mad. Cheeky little thing, she never comes up here when I am on my own but of course she was after her Daddy.
Favourite spot these days!

Normality!

Just a nice normal day for everyone today including Jessie. Just how we like it really! All the Christmas things are put away now for another year, ready to come out again in some ten months time.
I thnk the nights are drawing out a little bit at the moment, it is now about a quarter to five and it is still quite light outside, just getting to twilight. Not been a bad day today but it isn't raining, it is cold though Vin went out earlier to get the bin in and he was saying how cold it was. We have had a very mild winter this year though so we cannot complain. We have had  about eighty odd fires this season so far which our Jessie has enjoyed  the fire a lot. most nights she can be found  stretched out full length in front of it. Sometimes she puts her head on the wooden fender that we have in front of it even while it is still quite hot. She stays there for ages quite comfy.
One fireplace waiting for onelittle cat!

All Away!

That's it, all away for another year, Vin was joking last night that it would only be ten months before they would all be out again. Ha Ha !
He finished up this mrning getting the tree boes out of the shed and putting them away again with new tape so they would be protected. Excellent job Vin XX  He said the little cat was helping, she came and sniffed round him when he was putting the tree away, then went off to get something to eat. Good choice puss cat! She has had a lovely Christmas, plenty of attention and plenty of rest and things to eat, I think she likes it here. Just wish she wouldn't wake us up at six o'clock in the morning though.
No appointments this week so might go out somewhere on Thursday, Vin needs a break he has worked really hard over the Christmas period, getting us all sorted. Not sure where yet though.
Any nice cream cake for meeeee???

Tootsies Day Again!

Today was mostly set around the appointment at aintreefor two thirty. Morning mostly as usual but early small coffee and a light lunch of a piece of toast with cheese spread on.  Then up to get ready and  out by two o'clock. Good traffic going and we arrived there at twenty five past two. Waited a little while in the foyer area which was really quiet, and then called in.
Very dull and darkish today,it was actually dark when we came upstairs to get ready after lunch, and it is a matter of puttinglights on everywhere. Driving home after the appointment waslights all over but the number of Christmas lights have now depleted. We are taking ours down tomorrow which will leave the house looking bare, as we have quite a few around.
Little Jessie greeted us at the door when we came home...not! She sat there residing in her basket, quite comfortable and cosy. No doubt she will move later when we have our coffee and cream cake. Not that we have a big piece it is a small cake which does the two of us for four days.
I love this one, a bit high on the old catnip.

Happy New Year!

All over for another year! Went really quickly in the end too. A good time was had by all I think, we had our jane here for over Christmas and she went back for work on New Year's Eve poor girl. Lots of work going on there methinks.
We had a lovely christmas dinner, Vin did a meat free roast, which we had with all the trimmings and he bought a butternut wellington with mushroom which he had.  Followed by chocolate brownie with ceme fraiche and raspberries and tiny white stars.  Much later in the evening I might add. Boxing day was a buffet type meal which we  normally have
All back to normal now and the decorations will come down on Saturday this year. Always seems bare when they go you tend to get used to them.
Jessie had a great time, jane took loads of photos for us, and this is one of her with a new bowl and also a catnip duck/mouse which she really took to. Licked it like crazy and it is now on the floor with distinct dark colouring where she has been at it. funny little cat!
