Delivery!

Well this morning the new wasking machine was delivered. Vin rang the shop up yesterday afternoon to see if  it was still on and was given a time of between nine thirty and noon. They actually came about a quarter to ten, rang up when they were outside. In and out very quickly, took the old one away which is on its way toTurkey to be recycled! Don't ask me, no idea!

Jessie of course stayed out of the way, she scooted off upstairsto go under Jane's bed, her little sanctuary of safety. She will come out later to check her daddy is still here. She probably thought it was mark coming, but he is not due till next Tuesday.

Beautiful day today, blue skeies and sunshine, same as yesterday. Seems to be a spell of nice pre-easter weather, but not due to last according to the forecasters who are telling of coler weather by the weekend. There were pictures of crowds in the various parks all over the country of  people gathering in large groups, not much social distancing going on.

Just had a phone call from some Indian man to say that the warranty had expired on our washing machine! Took pleasure in telling him that we have just this morning had a new one delivered and it was sitting in the middle of our kitchen waiting to be unpacked! he said goodbye and have a nice day!  Vin has now gone off to tesco to get some bits for the week as he normally does. Hope he isn't wearing himself out!

Happy Monday!

So say the papers this morning, at least the two we read on a Monday anyway. A few more relaxations such as people can meet in small groups in gardens etc., can't say that is going to affect us much but there we go!

A bit of a blow last week when the washing machine made a horrendous noise at the end of a cycle. Sounded dreadful and was telling us that it had given up the ghost.  Not repairable any more, gone are the days when you would get a little man to come and mend it for you, so it was a trawl on the internet to see what was aavailable.  Vin rang up the shop in Formby where we got our dryer from and our last washing machine from and the chap there told him there was a nationwide shortage of white goods due to the pandemic. Factories not producing as many, workers laid off etc. They didn't have the one we wanted in stock a Hotpoint, but they did have Hoover but it would be after Easter for delivery. Vin came down to tell me then he went back to order it and the chap said they had checked their stock and they had one actually in their warehouse, so they can do it on Wednesday. So that is the big delivery this week. they will take the old one away for about twenty quid so that is sorted as well. One of the blessings of dealing with a small ffirm instead of the big ones who don't vare what happens.  Great!

Apart from that nothing going on this week much unless something else transpires. Little Jessie woke him up at six o'clock this morning. The clocks went forward on Saturday night so I expect that has affected her rhythm somewhat. I felt her on the bed jumping around, then Vin got up to feed her. Later when he went down for our coffee she was asleep on her blanket. What a nice life. All is well in Jessie's world!

Not too early for breakfast yet is it?

Another Weekend Comes Around!

Friday again and another weekend cming up. We have seen the anniversary of the lockdown this week too, that went quickly. Change in the way we do things, and no outings for coffees for us this year. Missed those, always liked going to dobbies for a browse and a coffee there. My brother died in the middle of last year, not of Covid thank goodness, but he did have a lung problem. That was over in Australia so missed his funeral obviously.  Get updates from Ann though she moved to an apartment nearer to her oldest daughter so that is better for her. They don't seem to have been affected as much by the virus as we have here. At the last count there have been losses of 126,000 people who have died. However, there have been a lot of vaccines given out, around 28 million now with some having had their second one done also. Jane is due for her second tomorrow, while ours is about a month later. April 27th.

Phone went this morning, Vin was in the bathroom so he went to answer it and it was the lady about my injections. He said he would go down to check on what we had left, he told her just going down now, just going past the cat now, and Jessie raised her head and started to miaow so he held the phone towards her so the lady could hear the miaowing! Talk about having a conversation with a cat !

He has gone off to Sainsbury's this morning, saves going to Crosby on a Sunday morning. That turns out to be a rush, we  do the crosswords on a Sunday morning, and often hair washes, and it is nice to have the day free,

Hello lady Miaow! Nice to chat to you. As long as you don't come to the front door and press the doorbell, I don't mind chatting!

Anniversary!

One year ago today since the very ffirst lockdown. This was the one where everything shut down, nothing open except food stores  post offices and medical premises. You didn't go out of the house and certainly not without the masks on. Covid numbers huge, and a lot of people dying from it.   Now a year on we are still in semi lockdown although vaccinations are being done and about 26 m illion people have had their first one already with about 2 million or more having had their second one too.Minutes silence at twelve o'clock to remember those who have died.

We were up early this morning because Mark was due, it is three weeks since he had been so interested to see how the toe was getting on, in fact it is doing ok, a bit of a dressing on it and he will be back in two weeks. That will be Easter Tuesday actually. That has come round quickly, clocks go forward this weekend so an hour less in bed Sunday morning.  Vin is doing the bedding this morning and we will have our coffee a bit earlier because we were up earlier. Does throw the day out a bit.

Jessie attempted to do her usual disappearing trick this morning when Mark came. However, she got to the top of the stairs and spotted me coming down so she turned round and decided to go into the front room instead. What a madaam!

On theprowl, who is worse, Mark me or Jack at the back door?

Ready Set Spring!

First day of Spring not that it really feelslike it, fairly cool today. Not up early, Vin had a fight with a welsh cake and the toaster this morning so was a bit later with the breakfast, but he got there. A case of a crumbling cake I fear, so he will try to get it clear this morning. No Mark this morning so it didn't matter much, we don't have to get up for anything really. He is coming tomorrow so will have to get going for that.

Nearly three quarters of a million jabs given yesterday, that's good going by anybody's standards, mostly first ones but some second ones done also. Some European countries not giving the AZ vaccine out but  basically that is stupid, as far as I can see it is a case of three choices The Pfeizer one or the AZ one or Covid.  A couple of weeks ago Vin was chatting to a man in the village who wasn't having the jab! I told him to keep away from him! as you would.  Not much sign of anything opening up again just yet but some shops will be opening next month.Still largely  only food shops at present.

Jessie was up on top of Vin at five o'clock this morning,he said she was on top of him but wasn't miaowing and pawing at him to get him up. he said she was just sitting there, just wanted company he said. Then she went downstairs after a bit and he got up to feed her later after he'd gone back to sleep again.

Imagine waking up to see this face staring at you!

Weekend Approaching!

And the end of yet another week. We have passed the first anniversary of the initial biglockdown  wheneveryone was scared to death of going out in case you got infected.  Now we have 23 million people vaccinated, and some of those on second jabs too so that is very good going. maybe sometime the rules will relax a little and things will be opened again.

An awful lot has changed,  a huge number of high street stores, closed the latest being Thorntons chocolate shops. Mostly going online and in the supermarkets now apparently. The rise of online shopping is huge, with takeaway foods and everything else too being widely used.  We don't get online shopping not for groceries anyway, Vin still goes to Tesco once a week, and he has gone off to Sainsbury's this morning  but he says he is very careful to keep away from people and always wears a mask. Until more of the population has been vaccinated twice you cannot take changes.

Jessie is blissfully unaware of what has been going on this year. She has had largely a nice year with her daddy pandering to her every want!

Her "house" her garden and her toy. All is well in Jessies world.

Mystery Solved!

A little mystery solved this morning,. Monday we got up early to wait for Mark who was due, and by lunchtime we gathered he wasn't coming so we did the same on tuesday in case we had got it wrong and he had said Tuesday instead< anyway he rang up this morning to say he had been off with a bad back and Thornton obviously were not aware he was off sick hence he didn't get the message.  All cleared up now though and we will be back to normal on Tuesday.

Nice little chat with  a friend of our who lives down the road,  Vin had agreed to sign some papers for her and they were arranging a time to go and do that.  Then Jane rang just after that, so been talking to her. She was off to the big ASDA  not far from where she lives, she should get some good things there it is a  great shop for the bargains. She is very lucky with the choice of shops she goes too, pretty much everything. We really only have the Tesco and Sainsbury's and there is a Waitrose but they are so expensive.

Jessie is very quiet today fast asleep downstairs, and didn't come up to get her daddy to feed her this morning, but that is quite normal for her. If she is hungry she comes to find him, if she isn't she settles down on the sofa.

Hark! Do I hear my daddy coming?

Monday! monday!

Yet again, once more the Monday's come round with monotonous regularity. Today it was get up earlier, get ready for Mark the podiatrist coming, but i am sitting here in front of the computer at eleven o'clock still waiting! He normally comes at around half past nine but there is no sign of him so far. Leaves us on pins really because you begin to wonder if you got the day wrong. I know we didn't because we both heard him say the same timein two wweeks last  time he came but you do wonder. Maybe he has been delayed.

We shall wait and see.

Jessie of course has been aware that something is going on because the vacuum comes out, so she disappears then, usually upstairs to go under Jane's bed when the doorbell goes, but it hasn't gone yet.

Lovely blue skies this morning but still cold, it was forecast for rain and cloud so they got that wrong. Some of the people on the Delia site that I go on have had rain today so it does seem patchy. Nice here though.

Vin said this morning Jessie was on the bed early this morning trying to get his attention but he pulled the covers over his head, so she started to paw them down. He said "it's too early" so she went off! I swear she understands what he says to her. :)

Couldn't get much closer.  One of her favourite places!

Flipping Catty!

The Jessie one, woke me up at some stupid o'clock hour thismorning. Still dark and I couldn't get back to sleep again. Then my legs started itching as they often do, and then I had things going on in the brain so tossed and turned but to no avail. Trouble is once you do drop ogg it is time to get up again! Vin said it was his fault because he didn't feed her last night so I expect she was hungry this morning.  Make sure she gets fed tonight eh!

Yesterday Vin took himself off to Tesco as he normally does on a Wednesday and got the shopping for the week. Today it is nice and sunny but very blowy, the chemist over the way normally has an awning up so people can stand under while waiting to go into the shop, he came and removed that last night in case it got blown down, very wise too, they are quite expensive to install. Notice a panel of fencing has blown down next door so I suppose it is wise.

Jessie of course is fast asleep on her blanket on her daddy's sofa. Typical, wake us up then spends the rest of the day asleep!

Let's have a nice rest!!!

New Start!

To the week that is, another Monday comes round with monotonous regularity. Today a little bit different because the schoolchildren are back to school today after months and months of home schooling. I bet the parents  are relieved by that. Remains to be seen how it will affect the infection rates but time will tell. Nothing else happening this week except for the big "Harry and Meghan" interview with Oprah Winfrey! What a woman the Meghan one is,  who is desperately seeking an A-list lifestyle and everythig has to go her way. feel for Harry he is smitten but I fear in time he will regret it. Again time will tell!

Finally spoke to Jane towards the end of the week, she had been off work with a sinus infection which sounded very nasty, she reckons it is the masks they wear for their twelve hour shifts.Have heard this before so it probably is.  From our end there is not a lot going on again, Viin has just taken himself off to the garage over the by-pass to get a pizza for his tea,  nd to the garden centre to see if they have any solar lights. A lot of them online don't get good reviews so you have to shop carefully.

Jessie is doing very well, presently sleeping, as she does a lot of the day. She woke up early this morning because I wanted to go t the bathroom so Vin gets up to put lights on etc., then he goes down to make a cup of tea so that wakes her up. He said she thought Christmas had come because she got fed early! One pleased catty!

Little extra for meeee!

Wednesday!

Not doing my posts every day since there is not so much to write about in lockdown. Everyone and everywhere is very quiet as a few people have commented on.

Vin has gone off to Tesco this morning, seems to be a good day to go there since he says it is quieter, so he can get round easier. Still in masks and social distancing but you still need to be careful.

Short and sweet today mainly because Vin has just rung up to say he is on his way back, and so need to get moving.

Watching and waiting for her Daddy!

St David's Day!

Not that you would notice really, it is just another manic Monday as the song goes!  it was an early start for us again because Mark the podiatrist was due to arrive any time after about nine o'clock. In fact he arrived at around  ten to ten and as soon as Jessie was aware of that she scampered upstairs under Jane's bed and as far as I know she is still there. Although, she may well have slipped past without me noticing, she tends to do that.

The offending toe that he has been treating is well on the healing point now and we are down to plasters only, he is coming back in two weeks then after that maybe three and then maybe goodbye Mark.  It has taken an age altogether with all of the toes and foot operations but it really does seem like we are getting somewhere finally. Must be a few years altogether by now.  Well done the podiatry service.

Two deliveries this week, one was some nail varnish I had ordered from QVC and the other is a runner for the hall to replace the one that is presently there, that is due to arrive this afternoon. Do hsve to say that the online ordering is very painless and they have mostly all got their acts together with regard to sending out the products.  We have ordered a fair few things over the last year, and so far "touch wood" have not really had any problems.  The click and collect system is very good too, have used that a few times.

The disappearing catty, or the anti-social cat it seems. Mark was giving my feet a pedicure, or nail cutting and I said that Jessie could do with her  claws doing. he remarked that she would never go near him to get them done so I said don't worry she doesn't come near me either. She is very definitely a one man catty that one. Aaah!
