Quiet!

We did go out yesterday because of that we were in today, so hence it was a quiet day for us. Not that there is a lot going on anyway.
Only one letter in the post which was an appointment for the fracture dressings clinic on the 10th October which isn't that long off. The only problem for us is that it is for 9.05 which is a terribly early start but never mind, at least it wasn't for seven thirty like it was last week.  Jane is off today too so doubt whether she will ring up either.
It is nice and Autumnal today, did go a bit cloudy mid-morning but it is lovely now. Would be beautiful weather in New England. A little early maybe but I suspect that the pumpkins are out already.  They are very keen on Halloween over there, far more than we are, and it is beautiful.
Little Jessie was in her basket this morning with the radio on low. Vin says she likes the radio and enjoys Ken Bruce!
She did go out for a while this morning, and Vin was thrilled to bits because she came back in on her own! I said how old is she? He said she is a slow learner!. Aaah!

Nice Little Outing!

Only off to Tesco, but it was a nice Autumn day with blue skies and the sun shining and we went off to spend our free coffees.
Had a bit of a look round the store first, and bought a few things. Vin had said the other day when he did the bedding that we needed a new mattress cover as the old one was getting frayed. Lo and behold they had them in there a double one for £9 which is very goo0d value so we got one. Also got some crispy min ts and some frothy coffee a skinny cappucinno one which looks nice. Lovely golden packaging.  We went through the self service tills which were quite busy, I hate those but Vin goes through them like wild fire.
Went off for our free coffees then, both coupons from the papers, we weren't alone either, while we were there there was another couple who were sorting out their papers on the table to the right of us.  Quite nice in there the seating is comfortable and looks more modern.
We had a latte for Vin and I had a flat white.  Very tasty as usual, we shared a pack of wafer biscuits, nice and light.
Off home by one fifteen, and enjoyed that.
Little Jessie not moved as usual and  when I came down from getting changed there she was holding court on my footstool! Typical, take the place over. Queen Jessie!
A girl has to look nice for her cream cake!

There's a Little Man !

There is a little man sitting on my shoulder saying "watch those toes" everywhere I go. He is so careful with them, you'd think they were on the end of his foot. Bless him.
We are in today, Vin was out in fits and starts yesterday with his car and getting that sorted, so in today as usual. Maybe out tomorrow for a free coffee if everything goes well. We have vouchers from the free paper and one in a leaflet so may as well use them. It will be nice to see what they have done with the Costa in Tesco also. Vin says we could have a bit of a look round too, they have the Christmas things out apparently.
He has done the bedding today, and turned the mattress over as well, busy boy! Got quite a lot of things on the line, the weather today is quite sunny and he says it is a bit breezy too so might be a good drying day as well.
Little Jessie is round and about, she foes on his lap for a stroke quite often, he said she came up twice this morning to get him up. The first time it didn't work and he turned over, then the second time worked and he got up to feed her. She is a very insistent little puss, and doesn't give up easily.
Who can't resist this little face looking at you first thing in the morning?
Vin can't for one.

Car Works!

He started this morning early by getting up, feeding the cat and then taking himself off to Crosby  to get his car serviced. He had originally gone to see about the back window wiper sorted but the bloke said it was probably the wiring so he decided to get it serviced at the same time.
He drove there of course, and left the car, wasn't sure about getting the bus or the train back, in the end the train won. He was back before I knew it actually, I was amazed when he appeared upstairs with our coffees as usual. Plus the papers, he has been a busy boy.
Morning doing our normal things and mid- lunchtime he got a call from the garage to say his car was ready and since the little bus was over the road waiting he went over to get that. The advantage of that is that it drops you off outsside the garage. He was back within the hour, good going eh! As I was waiting for him Jane rang up, she was off to Tesco to get some snacks and drinks to keep her going. In the middle of chatting to her Vin returned so he was really quick.Pleased as Punch because the car was all done, sorted, serviced and washed and vacuumed also. Two year's worth of muck inside which is good. He said he was going to  give it a vacuum as well so that saved a big job!
Little Jessie has been largely oblivious to everything going on this morning. He did say she greeted him at the door when he got back this morning though Aaaah!  Probably worried about where he had gone.
Where oh where has my Daddy gone???

Tootsie Traumas!

Not quite trauma, but tootsie treatment though. Friday was the day I had to go to Aintree for my toes to be wired and bones removed to straighten them up.  We had to be there for 7.30 which was a bit of a killer for us but we made it. The nice thing about that was that there were plenty of parking spaces in the car park. Waited when we got there and eventually we saw different people, one nurse who took the history and asked all the questions, then another who did a blood test, the anaesthetist who asked the questions about allergies amongst others , she was a lovely young woman and really pleasant.  Then saw Mr Butcher who was doing the op., he explained what he was doing again, and drew a lovely tree on my leg with leaves and berries and an arrow running through it! Also two arrows pointing to the toes he was doing. Bit of a sense of humour thing going on there.
Lastly the nurse who took me into a room to get ready, all undressed and just with the gown and dressing gown. Went down at about ten fifteen and don't really remember much till waking up in the recovery. Fairly quickly off to the next stage recovery and in time given some very welcome coffee and toast. Hospital toast is always lovely for some reason.
Vin picked me up late afternoon, nice to get home again. Quiet weekend and not going out today either.
Vin is off to get his car serviced tomorrow, so today he spent some time getting the back boot cleared of grime, caused by about two years of leaf dropping etc., terrible parking under the sycamore trees.
Little Jessie just went her usual way, doing what she always does, she has been out a bit today enjoying a bit of sunshine.
The best seat in the house according to Jessie.

Wash and Brush Up !

Nice wash and brush up all round today for us. I had a lovely hot shower and hair wash this morning and Vin has had one this afternoon. It is all a bit of a faff for me,  with having to put the Limbo thingy on and shuffling round on that. Was lovely though, used my last Linco Beer shampoo which I have had for years. I loved that shampoo and used it for ever, but then disaster struck and they stopped making it, and you cannot buy it anymore unfortunately.
It is still blowy a bit outside but not as bad as yesterday. There is rain with it today and it is quite dark in the house which means that the lights are on everywhere. Quite a good thing really since we will have to get to bed early tonight. Probably about by ten at least if not before that because we are up at six in the morning. That is the bit I am looking forward to least actually.
Jessie has been quite quiet today, but around and about. Mostly asleep somewhere, often in her basket but   then she suddenly gets down and flops on the floor.  Strange little cat !
Waiting for her food ! Vin said he went down to feed her this morning, put the biscuits and cat food down for her then filled the kettle. She still sat there, looking up at him, and he said to her that's your  breakfast, then she got down to eating it! What a madam!!

A Bit Blowy!

A bit blowy indeed to say the least. It seems storm Ali is with us for the time being. We heard on the radio that some poor woman had been blown off a cliff at Galway, a terrible way to go. A too.
We went to Dobbies this morning for our coffees for the month, it is always a blowy spot at the best of times but today you had to be careful  Vin nearly got blown over going across for the wheels.
We had a bit of a mooch round first, they are in the middle of putting the Christmas things out already. It must be awful working in a shop, Christmas stuff from September! but they all do it. It's a wonder they don't have the Christmas trees out at the front by now.   We just bought some cakes for keeping and some shortbread biscuits that were on offer, and that was it really today. Nothing else caught our eyes yet, and it is too early to be buying stuff for Christmas yet.
We then went for our coffees and it was quite quiet today, probably the weather keeping people away. Vin had a latte with a flavour and I had a flat white which are really nice from there and not too big.
Home for lunch which is yogit and crips!
Jessie did not move from her basket. I love the way she rushes to the front door when we come in! More like she flops down in the doorway to trip you up, me anyway!
I've woken up now, ready for my cream cake!!

In Again!

Certainly in again today but will probably go out tomorrow. We were supposed to be expecting storm Helene today with warnngs of gale force winds but nothing has happened as yet.  Just a light breeze really if anything.
Vin went out to give his car a bit of a wash and brush up because at this time of the year there tends to be a lot of tree sap which is horrible, really sticky and gets everywhere. It is going in for a service next Tuesday so he wanted it looking tidier than it is. At least the sun is shining now so it will dry off beautifully.
Jessie seems to be grumpier than usual today, she was beside him in her basket having a sleep this lunchtime and he raised his hand a bit accidentally, and she went to scratch him. Then she jumped down and he went to stroke her and she was really grumpy, tail was going and her eyes staring at him. He said give her a stroke does he think I am stupid !! Stroke her while she is in that mood? No way Hose. As they say.
Loo0ks like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth! Don't you believe it!!

Mondays !!

Usual things going on here today, a very normal Monday!
It started off quite cool this morning looked like rain, but it has suddenly warmed up and is quite sunny now. There are weather warnings for strong winds, but there are no signs yet.
Nothing going on much here this week either, apart of course from my toe operation on Friday. The worst thing about that is that I have to be at Aintree at seven thirty in the morning which is a killer for us.  I for one am terrible at getting up in the morning, especially now I don't have to get up for work !
Jessie was out for a bit this morning while we had our breakfast,  and when I came into the middle room to use the computer, there she was sitting outside the back door.  I shouted through the window "go on, you can go through the cat flap" she just sat there gazing at me, while her Daddy ran downstairs to let her in.  The moment he opened the back door she ran in. What a minx!!
On the prowl, and on her way to see her Daddy and get her cream cake.!

Using The NHS.!

Made good use of them yesterday and today, our weekly visit to the podiatry clinic in  Aintree. Our visit was for two o'clock and we just about got there on time, being a little bit late leaving the house. Didn't matter because  I had to wait  a few minutes before I was called in. Never mind waiting there they see you when they are ready. Had  the foot dressed again, mainly to prevent it rubbing or anything before it is done next week.
We had received a phone call some time ago to go to the village surgery for a medical review, and that was today. Originally it was supposed to be for eleven o'clock this morning but we got a phone call yesterday cancelling that and to go for two o'clock instead. That was a bit of a shame because we had planned to go to Costa after that for a coffee, but never mind.  We had our normal coffees at home then got ready, got there on time anyway, but it is only over the way so not a big journey! Saw an axtremely nice Doctor, very impressed with him, smiley face and a beard but not a huge big one, hate those!  We had said in the waiting room that he would say "What can I do for you?" and he did but we were laughing and explained why, said we had been called in for a review and they wouldn't give any more prescriptions without one. He was spot on actually, went through all of the medicines I was on, took some off the list and reinstated the statins because he said the cholesterol had dropped a lot so it was a no brainer really. Then he went through every one I was on and redid the prescription so everything is done now.  Plus he put me down for a review again in a year so that was a bonus, better than six months.
Home for lunch and little Jessie who just about raised herself she came in the middle room and immediately flopped down on the floor, Vin said she is having a rest, she is tired!!!
Hello! I know there isn't any cream cake today. What do you have for me?

Short and Sweet!

One of those nothing sort of days today really, we weren't going out today because we are out on Thursday and Friday,  therefore in today. Nice and bright and sunny too, Vin put some washing on the line so it should dry in this weather even if there is no breeze.
Bits of post which is unusual these days, we certainly do not seem to be getting the post that we used to. I suppose it is to do with the advertisers using the online services and e-mails, we don't even get as many catalogues that we used to either and some firms like Argos for example are stopping producing them altogether, in favour of online. Where would we be without the internet?
Little Jessie went outside for a short while around lunchtime, mooched about for a bit and then sat on the back doorstep. Of course Vin turned round and jumped up "she's waiting outside!" and rushes to let her in. She has him for a real mug, I'm sure she knows what she is doing too!
Do I look appealing enough for some cream cake Daddy?

In and Out!

One in and one out, guess which one! I( stopped in today and Vin went out to Crosby to his garage to see about his back windscreen wiper blade. He spoke to a man  there who explained that it might be a wiring problem, which means that if he bought a new wiper motor it might be a waste of money which makes sense. He is also thinking of putting it in for a service but because of its low mileage it would only be a minor one. He is aiming to get that done when I have had my toes done which will be next week, so any time after that.
He also had a look at kitchen shops which there are very few there but he did go into one and the woman said to check whether our cooker had legs or was a push in type. When he came back for his coffee he had a look and it is the push in sort that sits on the floor of the kitchen although built in, so that sorts that out.
Little Jessie has been up and down mostly when she was hungry or not, I think she likes the attention from her Daddy !  who panders to her every whim. No wonder she sits on his knee and ignores me!!
She is very definitely a one man cat.
Where is he? My Daddy ?

Gas!

Vin is in charge of sorting out the energy providers in our house. Very recently we had t change from Ebico who we had been with for some time and he decided to go with SSE.  Bearing in mind our gas bill is just £90 or thereabouts a year, we do not exactly big spenders, we do not use a lot of gas, really only for cooking. Anyway, just for changing to them we got a £40 Argos voucher, with another to come in six months time for £5.  So do the Maths, ninety pounds a year bill fixed for two years and a forty five pounds voucher plus five more. Quids in!
We have stayed in today  as we often do on a Monday. We are out on Thursday at Podiatry, and to the surgery over the way on Friday for a review so not in a hurry to go anywhere at the moment.  The Friday appointment is for eleven o'clock so if in time we might go for a coffee after that at Tesco.
Jessie  has been her usual self today. She is a funny little thing, lies in her basket all asleep and cuddly looking and Vin goes to give her a nice little tickle. Then, nip she gives him a bite or a scratch! What a minx. He of course says she is only playing!  do we believe him, hmmm not sure on that one.
Come and cuddle me Daddy!

Tootsies Day Again!

Friday this week for a change, it is usually a Wednesday but it was a day for the doctor's inspection as well. That is always a longer one, but the appointment was for eleven o'clock, so it was an early night for us, and early rise today.  We hoped that we would be finished in a reasonable time and we would be able to go for a coffee afterwards. Everyone was very pleased with the state of the tootsies and the doctor said we had done everything right. Finished by about twelvish so we set off for  Costa at Aintree. Very blowy there too, it normally is a blowy spot but it has picked up a bit today.
I had a flat white, and Vin had a coconut latte with coconut milk a soya one, I had a taste of his and it was lovely too, not too sweet either. My flat white was lovely, it always is from there with a nice fern pattern on top today. It wasn't too busy either, interesting people watching, all sorts in there, yummy mummy types with babes in prams, older and younger couples as always and the off single person having a quick lunch. usually quite a mixture.
Home by around half past one and little Jessie was in her basket in the middle room . She doesn't tend to get up to greet us when we come home, I think she is too comfy, Doesn't want to move, radio two on in the background because she like it Vin says, so she doesn't need to move.
Come in quietly, a girl is asleep here!

Fact Finding Mission!

We were not planning to go out today, and it was pouring down when we got up. However, it did clear up after breakfast, so Vin decided to go off to Formby to see about cookers. Ours is a built in oven/grill with a hob on top all gas.  He went to the kitchen place who originally did our kitchen and got some advice from them, also another firm in Formby where we have bought assorted electrical items from, got more advice from them too. It seems that it is very difficult to get a gas oven now, and grills are non-existent.  Whatever happened to grills? let alone white, most of them are black now too.  Grrr!
Little Jessie left  a blob of cat meat on the kitchn floor this morning, and when Vin went down to get our coffee, he said he went into the kitchen didn't see it and slipped right on it and nearly went a**e over heels backwards.  Sorry I missed that! Bet it looked funny.  She is determined to trip him up today because at lunchtime she was flopped in the alcove so he had to do  acrobatics to get over her. Little monkey!
Boo!

Hair Cut !

After some pressure from Vin I bit the bullet this morning and made an appointment  with the hairdresser  along the road to get my hair done this morning. All I  wanted was a cut and blow, and have been searching for a hairdresser for sometime now. My original one was a salon in Formby which I had used for some time, then they moved to some other premises and went a bit poncey and pricey for me so started to look around. Got a price list from one near to where I used to go but couldn't make sense of them so rang up the one along the road in the end. This turned out to be available at a quarter to two  so went along for that. It was nice in there actually, clean and modern run by a lady called Jackie. We had a bit of a chat, and I asked her how long she had been there, she said ten years, then she said how long have you been here and she nearly fell over when I said 70 years!  Very nice haircut too,  the back is certainly a lot tidier now.  Quite reasonably priced too, the last time I went to the poncey one in Formby it was £36 today I paid £22  so that was good.
Nice and sunny today, I thought the weather forecast was supposed to be  cool and overcast but they got it wrong today.
Little Jessie has been her normal self today, in and out and about a bit.  She has developed a funny habit of lying in doorways just as you want to move so you have to go round her. We have a little alcove just before you get into the kitchen and she flops down in the doorway there and poor Vin nearly has to do acrobatics to get past her. She of course lies there and stares at him !
I love this one. Our two babies!.

Tuesday Doings!

The fourth of September today and it seems that quite a lot of children are back at school today. Hope that means that  places  we go to will be quieter now.  You do get a bit fed up with kids running round and quite often unsupervised.
Vin has filled out a claim form for the letter that he sent to our Jane today, it has been about two weeks now since it was sent, and no sign of it at all.  I wonder what happens to all of the mail not received by the recipient.  There must be a huge big black hole somewhere.
He has also renewed his Dobbies vouchers for the year too,  which means we have coupons for free coffees for September anyway which is nice. Like going there it is always pleasant, and new things to look at.  They will be putting the Christmas things out soon,Vin said Tesco already has all of the tins of chocolates out in store. They don't use tins now like they used to but are in a sort of plastic box/tub. Not quite the same.
Our Jessie has been her usual self today, up and down and in and out for a bit. She has been in a good mood today, looking forward to her cream cake probably!
Comfy here innit!

Another Monday!

Another manic Monday..Not! We haven't been out anywhere we generally don't go anywhere on a Monday, but we were waiting in for a delivery from Aranesp of my injections. Vin rang up early this morning to get an idea of the time slot and got from two o'clock. They came at a quarter to three which was quite good anyway because we were having our lunch downstairs.
Jane rang up while we were having our coffee this morning, she was on her way to the bank with a pile of money she had collected in a Coca Cola bottle we had bought her years ago. She was taking it to the bank where they had a change machine, and when she rang back it had been £107 so that was worth collecting, all her loose change. She said it was raining drizzly rain there, the sort that gets you wet without you realising  the odd thing is that it wasn't raining here at that time, and in fact it is nice and sunny at the moment.
Little Jessie had been up and about today, Vin said she was on the landing this morning when he went down to get the coffee and he stuck his hand through the bars, probably wiggling his fingers at her, she responded by scratching out at him.  He does like to tease her though.  She responds by being "playful", at least that is what he says.
Basket isn't big enough Daddy!
