Eventful!

It was a good job we stayed in today, in the end quite a lot going on. Firstly during the morning I had a phone called from the GP over the line. It was about the results of the blood test I had done some weeks ago. He said that my blood count was aa bit low and would I get another blood test done to see if it had gone up.
Then a bit later, Vin was in the garden putting up the new brackets for the hanging baskets and the doorbell went. That was a parcel of two jumpers I had ordered from Bon Marche, one for me and one for Ann for her birthday. A bit of quiet then the doorbell went again after lunch and it was the most beautiful  boquet of flowers and greenery, scented too. With a lovely note/card  for Mother's day from Jane and Jessie. Bless her, that is much appreciated.
Finally another doorbell ring from our neighbour saying that she had an email saying her parcel had been delivered but we didn't have it, maybe it is at the dentist's?
So quite an eventful day today all in all.
Vin said that poor little Jessie was going  wild downstairs she hates the doorbell going, even if she hears one on the television her ears prick up. Don't know what it is about doorbells but it is the ding dong type she doesn't like.  She is asleep again now though.
I love the way she does this, with her little face over the edge of her basket, really cute.  No cream cake today either which is a shame, it is all gone for this week and cherry cake doesn't have the same appeal really does it?

Two Outings!

Out yesterday and today. Hair appointment yesterday at lunchtime, so I toddled off down to the hairdressers in the village and got my straggly locks cut and blowed. She made a good job of it too,a nice lady called Jackie. My hair now looks nice and tidy cut to a bob style again.
Today was an appointment at the podiatry clinic for 10.30 quite a good time for us. It means getting up a bit earlier but not in the wee small hours. We left in plenty of time and the traffic was light which was good. Got there at around a quarter past ten and waited while Vin parked the car. He was back in a few minutes and we went in after a few more minutes. Saw Jo today, haven't seen her for a while so was catching up with what she had been doing. She dropped a blow because she said she was leaving to take up another post at Wythenshaw which is much nearer to where she lives and would cut down the commuting time so you can't blame her. Shame though, we have had her doing my feet for ever now and you get used to the same persons. They are all good girls there though.
After we had finished there we went to the retail park for a coffee at the Costa. Vin called in at the Range shop before that though to see if they had any hanging brackets and they did, just what he wanted so he got those. Then off to Costa. I had a really lovely flat white and Vin had a hazelnut latte which looked nice too, and we shared a little packet of wafer biscuits. It was fairly busy in fits and starts but we did get our favourite table. So all good.
Beautiful and sunny today too, really nice and warm, when we got home even Jessie went outside for a bit. Vin said she was rolling over in the sunshine, before sitting on the step to come in! He went for a walk around the block and came across the ginger cat who has been around for a while now. He does have a collar so not a stray, and he said it followed him while he was walking, like a little dog he said. Aaah.
She is now tired out and fast asleep in her basket. No cream in this week cake so she will have to make do with milk.

Hairdo Week!

Washed my hair this morning ready for going to the hairdressers tomorrow.  It is so long now it is creeping down my neck at the back and I've never had it that long. Don't like it that way so will be glad to get it shorter again and tidier.
Quite a nice sunny day today but still fairly cool. The sun is out but the air is cool sonot sitting out weather yet. It will probably be windy and rainy tomorrow if I am going to get my hair cut. Then clear until Thursday when I have an appointment at the podiatry clinic in Aintree.
Jessie actually miaowed at me this morning. When I was going through to the kitchen I went past her basket and stroked her head and said hello, as you do, and she let out the biggest miaow. Vin said there you are she does love you! I thought she was probably thinking get6 off me! Maybe not, she is quite a miaower, and does it to Vin all the time. He is always talking to her, and it is lovely to hear them communicating. They are quite a partnership.
Just how she looked when I went past her, you can have a bit of cream from a very jammy cake for that. None of the jam for you though!

Monday Again!

Not  a lot doing today, we don't go out on a Monday as a rule unless there are things going on. This week my appointment is on Thursday quite an early one I think it is 9.30. So that will be an early rise for us.  Might mean a coffee somewhere later though.
The only post we got today was a leaflet from Tesco for money off a total spend. One for £6 off 40 and two for £4 off 30 so worth having anyway. We can easily spend forty with cat food, coffee pods and mints for example so not too bad. The other thing I did this morning was to make an appointment to get my hair cut. It has grown very straggly and unkempt  and it is badly inneed of doing. The last time I went to the hairdressers down the road she did it really well so hope it is the same girl.
Nice day today but quite cold, Jessie went outside for a little while after lunch but her Daqddy was watching her, and the minute she appeared on the doorstep he was running into the kitchen to let her in.  She is treated like royalty that cat! She did miaow at him a lot though so must have been pleased to be let in.
A nice little pose, even if she does look a bit cross! Never mind Jessie it's cream cake day!

Nightmares!!

No not me, I don't suffer from nightmares, because usually when my head touches the pillow  I am gone, dead to the world.
Last night however  i had pyjama trouble. Don't know for sure what it was but my newly washed pyjamas had been doused in either washing liquid or more likely soft rinse.  So much so itt was like being doused in cheap perfume. Every time I turned over or moved I got a very strong whiff of it. Therefore it was a nightmare and kept waking me up all night.  They have now gone in the machine again and we will try again with another pair tonight.
It has been quite bright today but I have just noticed that it is starting to drizzle with rain again.          Vin went off to Formby this morning because he said the ironing board cover had worn so thin that you can see the metal through it. I can't remember when I bought the last one, it must have been anabsolute age ago. Somewhere in the deep dark past anyway.  He came back with a very nice padded one with variegated spots on it, looks really good.
Little Jessie hasn't been out today, she has been in her basket, watching out for her boyfriend I think. Or maybe not!
There is only one person she loves really!

Nowhere To Go!

We were discussing where to go tomorrow, the troube is we have been to Dobbies this month already because we went last week to get the sound bar. So that was it for the month unless you pay for the coffees and not sure they are worth it really. Costa on a Friday would probably be busy and  there is only Tesco to go round, so don't fancy that. Maybe not bother then. The other problem is that our own coffee machine is just too good and it is hard to get a coffee out which is as good. Just picky!
Little Jessie has had a visitor! Not really, there was a strange little catty in our front room this morning Vin said.  It is the little cat which has been wandering around the front of the properties for a while now. He knows who it belongs to and apparently it lives with the people who have the flat over the local shop down the road.  He says he can't quite see the tag on its collar but thinks it is Louie or Lovie, anyway, it was on our back garden wall this lunchtime and staring in at our window.   Jessie was definitely  a bit disturbed by it being there and jumped up on the back of the sofa giving it the evils through the window. It's a lovely little cat too, looks like it would be very affectionate. Take note Jessie!
Is it out there? Don't let it in to get my cream cake Daddy!

In Today, Maybe out Tomorrow!

Started off quite bright this morning but has gone a bit dull now. Doesn't look like rain though. Jessie went out this morning but sat on the step fairly quickly waiting to be let in by her Daddy.
It is the Spring Equinox today, so officially the first day of Spring. The daffodils in our front garden have been out for a long time, but I think that has more to do with the mild winter that we had this year. So far it has been quite a wet Spring and the last few days have seen flooding in certain areas of the country, especially where there are rivers. What price a nice house on a river bank eh!
Nice little bunch of daffs.  We bought someone year called mini moon which were really late flowering, pity that wasn't this year, they all flowered early.
She was lying in her basket at lunchtime andVin reached over to stroke her, as you do. And got bitten for his trouble. Naughty Jessie. Not the way to get some cream cake from him!

Saving Money!

He is very good at saving money my Vin! Today's job was to ring the AA to see about our subscription for the year.  He reckoned that our subscription was comparable to that of the RAC and he said that on the Martin Lewis website they say to give them a ring. Well that worked becaquse the lady was ready to offer a comparable price to theirs, so that was worth a phone call. Well done Vin!
It is grey bin tomorrow so  he was also clearing out the stuff to go into that, actually it is amazing how much rubbish you accumulate in a household of two pwople, and a cat of course.
She (Jessie) went out for a bit this morning, then Vin said she looked all miserable sat on the back doorstep so he let her in. She is quite capable of coming in through the catflap, but prefers to sit and wait for him to let her in instead. Spoilt little madam!
Can I come in now Daddy. I want my cream cake.

Rain Rain and More Rain!

Yes it is a rainy one today. Off and on all day at the time of writing this it is pouring down on the back window here. Horrible day. We weren't going anywhere today  which was a good job given the Spring weather.
Vin was doing a bit of fix it last night. The doorbell went and it was our neighbour who was having trouble with her front door lock which was sticking. He came to their rescue with some WD40 which got the lock working and let them in.  He saw her this morning and she said that she was getting someone in to put a new lock in. Better to be safe than sorry as the saying goes.
Little Jessie has been having a rest after her visit at the weekend! Only kidding, she got on really well with Jane and let her pick her up for a cuddle so she is very honoured.I think she has a bit of the cat touch like her Daddy.
In relaxing mode! Just taking it easy, and of course there is cream cake again today with Countdown later.

Weekend Visit!

Lovely surprise on Thursday afternoon. Our Jane appeared at the door on a flying visit. I think she came to see Jessie really, but maybe not. It was a little visit and the first one since Christmas because she is so busy with the shifts etc.,it was lovely to see her.
She said she had intended to stay till about Monday but she got an e-,ail asking for anyone to cover a Sunday night shift and she said the money is too good to turn down so she actually went back on Saturday night.
Her Daddy checked her tyres and lights for her and blew them up to the right pressure because he said they were under pressure only about 20ish when they should have been about 30. The lights were fine, but she was saying when she got home how many cars were on the road with deefective lights at the back.  She got back really quickly and stopped off for a small Dominos pizzqa with cheese and tomato and a bit of sweetcorn. Sent a picture of it and it was yummy looking.
On Friday we left her in bed and we went off to Dobbies, mainly because we wanted to collect a sound bar from Argos who had finally got the one we wanted in stock. We had vouchers for Argos so that ruled where we bought it from really.  So we collected that first and then went off to Dobbies for our coffees. Quite quiet in there and we had a bit of a look round too. Then coffees, I had my usual flat white and Vin had an Americano for a change he said. Both lovely anyway.
Jessie quickly got used to jane being here, she is very good with her, and Jessie lets her pick her up and everything. Without struggling either. She seems to have a nice touch with them. She is itching to get a house so she can get a cat. She has seen one in the local animal rescue called Cracker that she has really taken to, a cute little black one with a tiny white patch under its chin.
A lovely visit and I hope it won't be too long before the next one.
Our Jane and Jessie. Before a haircut! Her hair is so thick now it is all over her eyes, her Daddy did her hair colour for her on Saturday before she went back so she hasn't got any excuse for getting it cut now.

Village Gossip!!

Storm  Gareth has been and gone. Very blowy last night even I could hear the wind blowing down the chimney, not that it woke me up, it was a case of hearing aids out and I am dead to the world!  Just cold today Vin went off to formby to get his hair cut and he said it was freezing and still quite blowy there.
Jane rang up this morning n her way back from the shops, she had been to Morrisons and bought some stocks for her freezer and store cupboard. She is having another eye botox on the 4th April so stocking up for that because she won't be able to drive after that till it settles down. Hope it works well this time.
Village gossip today is that the festival that is planned for the field outside our village where the pumpkin farm is usually sited is going to have buses running from the trains to the site. That will make the shop down the road busy I said to Vin and he wasn't happy about that. Then I said they will probably all be on the village green smoking wacky baccy and he threw his hands up in the air and went downstairs! What a scream!
Jessie hasn't been out today, just up for her breakfast, back to her basket and will raise her head at about six when it is cream cake time.
Ready for tickling? Maybe not. She tends to go for the fingers then!

Rainy Tuesday!

A day of two halves really today. When we woke up it was absolutely pouring down, Vin said it was battering the back windows. He made his little cup of tea came back to bed and went to sleep again, after feeding the cat of course!
Consequently we got up a bit later, but it didn't matter because we hadn't planned to go out anywhere. The weather picked up at coffee time and it is now very sunny and bright, Vin says it is extremely cold though. He went out to get rid of some plastic pots from the garden and put the brown recycling bin out for tomorrow. Still looks quite blowy too. Jane rang up as we finished our coffees and said it was rainy there, so it doesn't look like the sunny periods have hit her there.
Jessie is spending her day in blissful ignorance of what is going on around her. She doesn't go out very much preferring to stay with her home comforts inside, and her daddy to wait on her.
Sharpening her claws ready to pounce! maybe on her cream cake!.

Tis Monday Again!

Once again a monday rolls round with monotonous regularity.Nothing in particular going on this week and no podiatry appointments which is nice. in fact we haven't got any till the end of March which makes a change.
Vin did a load of ironing this morning and put the last bit of washing out on the line to give it a bit of a dry. The blustery wind has gone and there is a bit of sunshine so they stand a good chance f drying a bit anyway. It is the quilt cover that is out which is the heaviest and hardest to dry so that willo get it going.
Little Jessie didn't wake him up this morning so he said he went to the bathroom then came back to bed instead of going to make a drink of tea, and she did wake up when he went down for our coffees later.  Those Denti-bites are working well he says. She has quite good teeth as it happens but he was stroking her yesterday and she gave him a bite at his sleeve. He said " she's only playing!"
She adores him really! And, he got a very nice cream cake yesterday so there will be a bit of cream today if she is a good girl!!

Friday Washday!

Very grey today and drizzly. We stayed in today because Vin decided that he would do the bedding, no chance of  hanging anything out today so it is the tumble drier today. I remember wash days in our house  in "the olden days" with washing draped everywhere, over clothes maidens and in front of the fire, mostly steaming away. The windows all steamed up and the smell of wet washing in the air. Now it is the smell of soft rinse coming from the tumble drier.
The nights are drawing out now with the sun setting about sixish which is much later. At least the early dark nights have gone.
Jessie seems to have quite a little routine going , after waking her daddy up for food or waking up when he goes down for the coffees, she settles in her basket and there she stays till lunchtime. Moves around a bit and then back in the basket. They don't half sleep a lot cats do! Suppose that's normal.
Favourite spot in the house, especially with my daddy feeding me some cream! None today though it's all run out!!

Dull and Cold!

Very grey dull, blustery and cool here today, not a day to be going out really.so we didn't. One of the good things about being retired is that you can decide what you want to do. If you don't fancy going anywhere you don't need to. Great life!
Vin looked out of the window this morning and said the window cleaners were here, not for us I might add.  I said that it was bound to rain now, and lo and behold a bit later on in the morning it started tipping down. Always the same when the window cleaners come.  Bit of a waste of money if you ask me, but I suppose they are clean underneath!
Little Jessie hasn't moved much from her basket, but no doubt she will when it is time for her cream cake later.
Did I hear somebody say cream cake? Where is it? Is it coming?

Tootsies!

Today has centred around the appointment at the podiatry clinic which was for one thirty and also with the orthotist at two fifteen.
We had an early coffee and a shortbread at twelve. A listen to the popmaster quiz and then up to get changed to go out.
Left the house at around ten past one and got there at one thirty so we made good time. No traffic hold ups for once. Sat in the waiting area while Vin went off to park the car, and waited and waited. Around an hour later we were called in to see cathy. Ashleigh also to see to the shoes and they decided to reduce the padding to try that for a while. The next appointment is for three weeks so that will give Vin a breather and we will go to dobbies in the meantime. Always enjoy a look round there.
No sign of Jessie moving when we came in, she did look up but didn't move. We had our lunch and she still didn't move. taking her time today, must be comfy, either that or she is becoming a student in training.
Looks up adoringly at her daddy. She does look at me but with the evils usually.  Never mind it is nearly cream cake time, if she is a good girl.

Waiting!!

Didn't go out today because we are ut tomorrow. An appointment at the podiatry clinicin the early afternoon. Also we were waiting in for a phone call from the G.P. who was supposed to be ringing about my blood results. As yet no word so I expect it was routine and nothing out of the ordinary. That's good anyway.
Vin has done some clearing up since it is grey bin tomorrow, not outside yet it is still quite cool, but no sign of the storm we were supposed to be getting. Storm Freya never really happened down here although there were reports of some damage down south. A bit breezy  here but not much otherwise.
It is actually a very quiet day here today, and not much going online or in the village either.  Jessie4 didn't wake her daddy up this morning  he had to get her going when he went down to get the coffees.  She must be having a quiet day today too.
Funny yesterday, she was all asleep in her basket  at cream cake time, not that she has the cake, then as he comes in with the plate with her smear of cream on it her head comes up as if to say "is that mine?" Of course it was.

Monday, 4 March 2019

Funny Weather!

We are supposed to be having storm Freya overnight and today. However, it is just a bit of a breeze here anyway. Very changeable day though over our lunch it was grey and overcast, then the most almighty hailstorm battering the window, then the sun came out! You just don't know where you are in this country.  The trees are blowing a bit and it is cold but so far i wouldn't say it was that stormy here.
We have stayed in today as we normally do on a Monday. Our Jane rang up just before our coffee time, she has  been to the occupational health department of her hospital to keep an appointment. Sounded as if she had got sorted and at least her eye trouble has been documented.
She was off home again to get in her pyjamas and get some lunch and no doubt have a little nap!! We had another phone call just after coffee time which was the surgery for me, apparently the doctor will ring me tomorrow at mid-day to discuss the results of the blood test that I had done on Friday. That was quick!
Our Jessie hasn't been out today, and I don't blame her either. It is raining again now and is horrible outside. Blowing a bit too so maybe it is storm freya coming up from the south to hit us.
Just blobbin!  Waiting for the cream cake time! Won't be long now.

Friday...A bit late!!

Friday, we were up earlyish and off to Formby clinic fr a blood test. We went last week but got there after the time so didn't get in, we were a bit stuck in some roadworks otherwise we would have been thereon time maybe!
Anyway yesterday we got there took a ticket (number 31) and then waited. Not for long, a nice girl did the deed and then we were off. We went to Tesco to their Costa to get a coffee. Earlier than we usually do but that didn't matter. Car park at first quite busy so Vin parked and went in to get some veggies then came out to say there were spaces nearer.
Costa was quite busy actually and the only spot we could see was a little table behind a huge great pile of easter eggs. Great big notice outside offering them for half price (only 75p) and we were behind the creme eggs ones with  the mini eggs to one side and the Cadbury's dairy milk buttons to the other. Very interesting watching them actually. Talk about flying off the shelves! Loads of people  putting multiple numbers in their baskets. Buttons seem to be the favourite. No wonder the supermarkets put them right by the entrances they know what is going tos sell. Same at Christmas with the boxes of sweets like Celebrations and Heroes etc!
So we sat there sipping our coffees, very nice by the way both flat whites because we didn't want to get a big cup with it being early. Vin was funny, he reached into his pocket a bit carefully and brought out this little pill bottle, leaned over to me and said I've brought my own flavouring!!!! So he got his flavoured coffee after all without having to pay 40p. What a scream. Goodness knows what people would have thought, I imagine all sorts!
Little Jessie hadn't moved when we got home. Still in her basket but did move later, probably feeding time in her little mind!
Daddy my daddy! Missed you!
