Brrr!

Really quite cold today, even the Hardy Vin put his electric blanket on the bed last night for a short while to warm up.  Very very blowy overnight as it was all day yesterday.
Now to add to the woes there is news of another local lockdown, this time in leicester, where everything has been closed for at least two weeks.  Seems to be due to overcrowding and lack of social distancing. I wonder how long it will be till there is one n liverpool?
You only had to look at the papers this weekend after the hot weather and all of the people sunbathing together on the sun all crowded together.
Vin has been busy this morning, getting the recycling bin organised for emptying tomorrow, did the cat litter, made a batch of yogurt, the EasyYl one which is lovely. Finally finishing the plant at the front with a top layer. He will be ready for his morning coffee today.
Jessie has spent the day in the warm today, as she usually does, in the heat she finds a cool spot, and in the cold she usually finds a nice warm heater somewhere!
Anywhere warm this morning?

From Rhew to Brrr.!

What a change! complete turn around with the weather. From the sun packed beaches of last week to cold very blowy almost March like weather. What a country! You just never know what is round the corner.  Some quite bad rain storms too,
We have a week off this week, we aren't seeing the podiatary man till next Monday so are footloose and fancy free ths week, so to speak.  Trouble is with the dreaded Lockdown measures in place, although they are being lifted slowly it does make you nervous about going out to places. Like our little trips to Costa every so often or our outings to Dobbies. Since you cannot really browse, or get your free coffees there is no point in going really.  We shall have to have a look online to see what is available to spend our voucher on. Get something we want I'm sure.
Jessie is lying around the house somewhere, Vin is in the front garden planting his new Clematis which he got on Saturday from the garden Centre over the way. Nothing seems to flourish in the spot near the front door, we shall have to see what this one does.  At least it isn't raining at the moment, just windy.
Just making sure you are doing it right!

Phew!!!

Phew ndeed, certainly wrmed up over the ast few days. Yesterday was very warm and today loks the same. Horrendous pictures of crowds on the beaches no sign of social distancing or of masks, and packed in like sardines. No toilets open either! Yuk!.
Today Thursday the podiatry man came to call, we had to cancel the appointment on Monday because I was under the weather so to seak. It was a blockage which I have had in the past, and which knocks you ut till it "blows!" then it takes a bit to get over. Getting there now though.
Vin had to get a form signed which he usually gets done by a friend from down the road, so he rang them up yesterday, and the mystery of the crashed car ws solved. It was them!! He had come out of his drive and gone sharp right into somebody's front wall and into their front window. Took them off to hospital, where he stayed for a few days but they are both ok now thank goodness. Car is a write off which is a shame it was a good car.
Also found out that our next door neighbour but one is in hospital, bowel cancer apparently, hope he doesn't end up with a stoma like me. Good luck to him. Hope he recovers well.
Jessie has been looking for coolish spots around the house. She doesn't go out it is too hot, but at the moment sits in the hall in a shaft of sunlight till the door bell went of course then she runs off . She has a couple of little spots where she feels safe, one is under Jane's bed, a favourite, and the other is behind the door in the front room where she can hide away. Bless her, I have no idea why she runs off, just a timid cat I suppose. She will come out later.
I've come out for my food now!!

The Big Day Out!

Not really a day, more of a morning really. I had to have a blood test done at Aintree hospital about the Aranesp injections. I get one done every so often to check levels. It was due this week so we went yesterday morning. What a difference from the ast time we were there! Very quiet, the nly people we saw were hospital staff, very few others, since the clinics are obviously not up and running properly yet. Vin dropped me off at the front of Elective care and I waited while he parked the car, then we went up to get it done. We had our masks on like we are supposed to, and there was hand gel at the entrance anyway.and boxes of masks if anyone wants one.  Must say they are very uncomfortable, especially if you have glasses on, because it steams them up.
Jane says the new rule in her hospital is for everyone to wear one all the time, and it's making everyone grumpy now. Formerly they only had to wear one when dealing with a patient now it is all the time.  Sign of the times!
After the blood test was done it was not off to the Costa as we would have done, but along the road home again. Our Homebase in Formby is closing down, and we needed a blacout blind for the middle room, so we carried along the by-pass to there. Just beginning to rain and the queue outside was moderate, so Vin went off to join that. Good timing because it started to teem quite heavivy but he was undercover.  He came back later with one at 10% off so that was a help. Job done.
Home for coffee, and lo and behold there was another letter on the map, guess what for? Another blood test, for another department. What a pain, so the whole procedure will have to be repeated in a few weeks.!
Jessie hadn't moved much, Vin leaves the radio on for her so that she has some noise around, but I think she was asleep in the front room on the footstool and couldn't care less where we were!
Look at me ready for tickling my belly!

Midweek!!

Wednesday again, seem to come round with monotonous regularity!
Vin has taken himself off to Tesco to do the weekly shopping. This he does very well because what he gets lasts the week just about. He has a regular list and then keeps an eye out for anything suitable for us to eat.  Mostly we eat different things anyway becaus of the things that don't suit me, so he will for examle have a chilli or a curry while I have a bit of flan and a croquette. Suits us both then.
It seems to be quite humid today as it has been for the last few days really, we have been forecaast storms but nothing really materialised just looked like it.
He  has just rung up to say he is on his way back, there was noqueue and nothing at the check out either so he got round quickly. We are waiting for a parcel to be delivered this morning of some fruits for cheese that were ordered on Monday. We got an email to say it would arrive yesterday but it wasn't actually on the delivery van till today. Doesn't matter, it is a good delivery rate anyway.
Jessie is downstairs, sleeping on her blanket after her breakfast. So tiring being a cat! Jane rang up last night for a chat on her way to work, a night duty, and one of the things she said was that she had seen that "Bob" the cat had died. That is a real shame, it was a beautiful ginger cat who attached himself to a homeless man and would follow him everywhere, even on buses. There were a coup;e of novels written about it, and a lovely film too which we really enjoyed. R.I.P. little Bob.
Jane and her mate! What a lovely pair they are.

Up and Down!

Goodness knows what the weather is ging to do today. The weather forecasts were quite undecided really yesterday, but mostly they said it was going to be scattered sunshine and rain showers,
Very little going n today, Vin put an order in for somemore fruits for cheese yesterday. We had a look online at Amazon but they were to come from a firm in Hawkshead and you didn't get free P&P so in the end he decided to go with the Tracklements.  He got an eail quite quickly to say they would be delivered tomorrow! which is today! so he is awaiting another email to say when they will arrive. That's good gong.
All the small shops on the High Streets were open for business yesterday and the papers this morning showing the differences between them Big queues at Primark and at the Nike shop in London. Not a lot of signs of social distancing.  Funny as I amtyping this they are playing Manic Monday on the radio!! There's a coincidence.
Jessie was having a great time this morning chasing Vin's foot which was hanging out of the bed as it often does for some reason. She was really nibbling at it he said, he told her to stop it but she took no notice. Too early I suppose. Anyway she is now fed and watered and is now asleep on the blanket downstairs.
What me? I am little Miss Innocent!

Foot Day!

Are we supporting the High Street? I think not really, cannot see us going to the high street any time soon. There was an item on The Cheshire Oaks this morning, showing cars waiting in a long queue to go inside. But...they had lost the key to the entry gate which didn't help really. So lovely empty car parks but no-one could get into them.  Probably solved it by now though!
My podiatry man came this morning at about half past ten a bit later than normal but it doesn't matter because we aint going anywhere. Feet are doing fine, and hehopes to get me to every two weeks soon, which is a leap forward.
Vin always has a bit of a vacuum around before he comes in so that was a signal for her ladyship to disappear upstairs, think she is now under the bed in Jane's room, which is her safe spot. When she first came here and Vin let her out of the cat carrier, she miaowed very loudly a lot and ran off upstairs to hide under her bed only coming out when she was hungry.  That is the pattern since really, if she hears the front door bell off she goes up the stairs.
Hooray! We are back again!

Opening Up!

Some easing of the lockdown measures over the weekend. Shopping centres open this weekend and all small shops due to open in July. Not too far away now. Still daily deaths from the dreaded virus but much much lower than they were.  Worries about the hospitality industry and how they will manage, pubs and bars say they will find it difficult to social distance. We shall have to wait and see what happens.
I cannot see us going out any time soon really, certainly our little trips to costa and Dobbies have gone by the wayside.  Good job we have our coffee machine!!
Bit brighter today, quite dark and cool this morning though,  it is supposed to brighten up as the week goes on though, so again we shall wait and see!
Jessie is round and about, sat in the middle of the landing this morning, right outside the bathroom, do you think she is trying to get rid of me? I wonder!
Still will not show pictures on here for some reason.  Sort it out soon maybe!

Christmas Early!

Nice surprise yesterday, when a shoe box sized parcel arrived by Royal Mail. Not badgoing actually, she sent it the day before first class. She did say she was going to put pensioners Care Package on the side but thought better of it!
We got some QT which is for Vin, he was running out and couldn't get any more anywhere. Jessie has a new collar with a bell on it, and we got some Easter egg shaped shortbreads from M&S and a pack of malted milk biscuits that we like. A great tea towel too, and a couple of other things too. Bless her, she is a lovely kid I am so proud of her.
Very blowy here today, and Vin has just come up to say it was raining a bit too. Don't think there will be any gardening today somehow. Apparently the weather is supposed to improve as the week goes on, we shall see.
Jessie didn't come up to wake her Daddy up this morning but she did come up last night and lay for ages on his front till she decided she has had enough and then jumps off. He said when he went down this morning, the biscuits had gone, the food had gone and her water had gone. She must have had a midnight munchie feast!!!

Sorry for some reason the photos will not come on this morning!!

Wednesday!

Now Wednesday and Vin have gone off to tesco to get the weekly shopping. He generally gets just enough to last the week before it runs out again. Very good judgement.
Jane rang up this morning too quite early we were still having our breakfast, she was on a walk round the park which is near where she lives. Although it is bright here she said it was very grey therem and looked like rain, and lo and behold as she was getting to the end of her walk which involves a few laps round the park it started drizzling. Sounded like she got to her car just in time.
She has sent us a parcel with some QT, instant tea that her Daddy likes but does not seem to be in stock in our local supermarkets here. She got some from B&M bargains , also some masks because shedoesn't want  us to go for the blood test without one. Bless her!
Jessie is downstairs thiis morning after waking her Daddy up early for feeding her. She perches on top of himtill he moves  very clever!!
Little poser!

Twas On A Monday Morning!

The podiatry man came to call! he normally comes about half past nine but today he didn't arrive till after half past ten. No matter, we aren't ging anywhere. We were up early and ready for him when he did arive, and he is usually quick doing my feet and out. Apparently they are looking much better, and he was saying he is aiming for two week appointment soon.  After all of the years we have been back and forth to Aintree that is good going.  Great service.
Distinct change in the weather this morning, quite a lot cooler than it has been over the last month which was the warmest on record. very overcast today, grey skies, not raining yet but could well do.
The dentist is open again today, with new regulations, no waiting in the waiting room, you have to sit in your car and they will call you in apparently. They have always worn all the gear, masks and visors so nothing new there.  Suppose the traffic will build up again now unfortunately. It has been lovely and quiet for the last eleven weeks since they closed.
jessie of course was in the front room on one of the chairs, then when she heard the door go she did her disappearing act up the stairs somewhere. Possibly under Jane's bed which is where she goes to feel safe.  She will come out later when she is hingry I suppose.
On the run!

Coler!

Cloudier and cooler today with a breeze too. We pulled the quilt back on the bed last night and wwere not too hot either. very comfortable in fact.
Jessie jumpedon the bed this morning apparently but I didn't feel her, she must have jumped on Vin because he said he turned over and she fell into the middle! Poor little Jessie. Reminds me of the times our little Rusty used to sleep on my side balanced on my hip, she used to sit there wobbling and swaying from side to side. So light you never really knew she was there. I loved that little cat! Really miss her.
We have had a number of cats over the years, al of them different, all with their own little ways, but each of them you remember with great fondness.
Otherwise a very samey existence for us here. i was saying to Vin this morning it is going to be quite difficult to go back to our normal routines, going to Costa for example, or to Dobbies for our bits of shopping and free coffees.. Wonder when we will do that again.  Jessie is probably looking forward to it, to get a bit of peace and quiet!!
Nice cream cake Daddy. You went shopping!!

Rain!

Nice to see a bit f rain today to wake up with. The weather people did say there would be a change in the weather over the next few days but didn't realy believe it while it was so warm yesterday.  That will do the gardens a bit of good, and make the weeds grow again probably!
Vin has gone off to Tesco this morning to do what has now become his regular Wednesday weekly shopping trip.No doubt he will be careful as he always is, he takes gloves and wipes with him and says he doesn't browse any more just gets what is necessary really. probably the cat's need at the top of the list!
The news is very much the same as it has been for weeks now, mostly different reports about the virus and related subjects. Now the riots in America, where a black man was killed by white policeman kneeling on his throat. Riots here also, in supportof the cause.
Jessie is still staying out of the way largely, mostly on jane's bed all curled up at the pillow part. Looks so comfy.
Hope he got some treats for me!

Tuesday, 2 June 2020

Phew!

Still hot weather, apparently the hottest Spring for years, I heard on the radio yesterday there were 620 hours  of sunshine this period, which is somewhat of a record.
The news is very much the same as it has been for the last ten weeks.on with the daily briefings and the same old same old! The death rates from the virus seem to be dropping, goodness knows how after the pictures you see in the papers of the crowded beaches, and even the numbers of people about in our vilage.
Formby again was gridlocked with people coming from miles away to be stuck on a car park or in a queue. You do wonder if it is worth it.
Vin has fixed a leftover blindfrom the kitchen in our front bedroom, that makes it easier to sleep in the early morning because it is a bit arker. Usually the sun streams through the window, and that wakes vin up. Once he is awake that's it usually, doesn't bother me, but it means he gets up too early at the moment.
The weather is supposed to change as the week progresses though, and we are due to have rain later on. Welcome too I should think.
Jessie seems to be finding the coolest parts of the house to have a sleep in. The front room downstairs is favourite at the moment, but she does surface when she is hungry.
Quiet up here all on my own!

Monday, 1 June 2020

Early Start!

Up and at em this morning bright and early, well early anyway! The podiatry man was due at about half past nine so we were ready for him,
Sweltering today as it has been all week, everywhere must be very dry now. After all of the rain we had this winter it must be very odd for the farmers dealing with crops etc., Pictures in the papers of crowds on beaches, and very little sign of social distancing either. Wonder if the virus will crop up again given that.  There was one photo of massive crowds outside the U.S. Embassy in london, protesting against the killing by the police of a black man in Minneappolis. Quite why they are demonstrating here I have no idea but the ccertainly were not social distancing.
Some easing of the lockdown today, schools reopening for reception and year one, and markets opening too. Also car showrooms and open air dealerships, with further measures to come.  It does seem that an awful lot of people are treating thelockdown as a big bank holiday though and not taking much notice of the rules, except maybe for older people who have more sense!
Jane had a long day yesterday, she was on an eight to eight day to start with, so we waited at about eight for her to ring. Then waited and waited no sign so we had our tea, and eventually she rang about a quarter to eleven n her way home. Apparently as she was due to leave the trauma bleep went off and she stopped to help the bloke on duty then five trauma bleeps went off so she was stuck. A massive fight in the middle of manchester, a bit of sunshine brings them all out!
Unfortunately some sports beginning today too, Snooker< horse racing, and football later. Been lovely without all of those this Summer so far!
Jessie is mooching around. She was in the front room on the floor, but scooted ff upstairs when the podiatry man came! She doesn't like strangers, or some members of this house for that matter, or other cats like Jack for example.  She knows what she likes does our Jessie, and it begins with D and ends with Y.
Oh and her food!
